Hi ,does the digital display give both speed and distance? never used an e.bike . Thinking about using this with my dog at low speeds no more than 15 mph and no mote than 7 miles in distance. Thanks
@@dannyboy8644 Yes, the display shows both speed as well as has an odometer.
Can u review the plus version that has a 750 motor
So I have a 700 series and when I went to sensor option it was set at 1 and I turned it to 12. So I should hit 40 mph with just the throttle? How fast for pedal assist at level 9 assistance?
Good job!
Hello, fellow Valley of the sun rider! I finally found a fat tire ebike for my brother who wants passenger capabilities for his young daughter. Only to find out the Ride1up Rift is already discontinued! I have heard that Step thru bikes can have a tendency to go into a "Death Wobble". I was just curious if you have experienced any such occurrences ? Hopefully Not, As I may be able to acquire a used model. I don't know why the bike is already discontinued , most reviews I've seen are great and the specs are great also. Thanks for any info!
My wife and I have never experienced the "death wobble" on the step through version ourselves. Strangely though, it wobbled like crazy when a friend of ours rode the bike. We couldn't figure out why it would only wobble with her on it.
@@RiverbedRides Glad to hear you have not had much of a wobble problem. From what I can tell the death wobble is often caused from unequal weight distribution. When more weight is placed on the rear tire, the front tire loses traction and the wobble is induced. Sometimes poor design and frame flex is the problem, sometimes both. Hopefully you don't experience any problems with your bike. I will keep an eye out for you at Tempe Town lake and maybe someday we can discuss your awesome bike in person. Thanks for the info!
You said 350 watts. I have eb- x which is 450. Coming in mail. Do you think would be much difference. ?
The industry is constantly changing, I know but 4 months later Q Life bikes offers a 26" bike with a 750 watt motor/36 volt battery built into the step thru frame and they claim a 40 mile range with a 20 mph top speed for $289.
With $200 shipping
you could get Jasion EBX 850 watts motor that go 25 mph and go 55 mile range for around $450 including shipping
um check the shipping its over $200 lol
Great introduction for novice
I got mine about a month ago, definitely needed the spring in the post seat, also handlebars were way too low for me. Put on a new stem and 4 inch rise handlebars.
THANK YOU. angles like the one at 8:20 help so much man. there’s a lot of parts to this thing but it’s honestly not a hard assembly, especially when you have it laid out like this. Thank you!!😊
i want this bike
finally someone assembles it on video
What's the fastest you've gone on the Rift?
@@dylanrogers6100 I have trouble getting it over 28 on flat ground.
I live in Florida where it rains a lot and was wondering if this bike is waterproof? I need a good e bike to ride to school but if I leave it outside it will 100% get rained on lol
The product information claims that the e-bike is IPX4 waterproof and can withstand spray from wet roads or light rain. However, Jasion does not recommend riding in heavy rain or submerging the bike. I wouldn't personally trust any of the electronic components in the rain.
Get a cover or take battery off. Easy. Good low priced bike. Switch seat and maybe get a 'stem aduster' 20bux. Huge help for comfort. I'm fl too and I just bought a second eb5. Praying its same as first one Read up on how to help bike battery last it will be worthwhile .
@@annreba ok thanks!
@@annreba there's also a controller, a display, and other electrical components that would render the bike useless if they were to take on water damage
How tall are you? I want this bike but I don’t like the handle bar position.
@@beau4526 I'm 6' 2". I added a riser to the handlebars because I also didn't like the position.
@@RiverbedRidesthanks for the reply. Was it a noticeable difference? I really enjoy the swooped backed handle bars but love the multi functionality of this bike
@@beau4526 I put this stem on the bike and it helped a ton. amzn.to/3WUaaWQ
I was able to raise the handle bars as well as push them away from me in a more comfortable position.
Thanks been riding mines for a few weeks now. I didn’t realize the weight limit was like 250lbs I’m 355lbs and I go up to 18 but I an upgrade my battery.
Hey. Where did you find upgraded battery ?
Ohhh, it lets you? Where do you get one? (waiting for mine from Amazon)
I thought the EB5 had mudguards and a rear carry rack?
They are additional options. They add $150 to the price of the bike. amzn.to/3QNRbcY
My front forks were slightly bent when i got the bike anyone else have this problem
Yes, mine too .what did you do?
18:50 👍🏼
I just got a rift and did a range test yesterday. ended up at 42 miles before i switched over to my second battery. i didnt run my first one down all the way to 0 either, only until i saw a dip in power. I stayed in PAS 5 going 28 the whole time. I think not staying in the highest gear nets you more human power and offsets the battery usage to get you more range.
Looks like no instructions come with it.
That's my fault. The paperwork in the bag of tools were the instructions.
Just bought a 500w Heybike. Seems like 350 would not be enough. 500 is barely enough. Was $500 on Amazon plus some freight. Strange that al l of the gauges etc are identical on the Heybike as yours.
Wait so this will allow me to pedal assist faster than 28 mph??? What are the disadvantages? Can I short circuit the motor?
@@billnyethewifiguy6827 It will essentially override your speed limiter. It won't cause any issues. Your limiter is only there to keep your bike legal.
Ok as far as the take off with throttle only..Try this. It normally works this way with half throttles. When you twist the throttle, twist it twice and hold. It should give you full power from the motor. I had to do this with the razor mx350. I don’t think many people know this hack.
@@engineerkentgaming1371 I have an e-bike now. And mines does not work that way. I have a half throttle but it acts as a regular twist throttle.
Get your feet wet with this e-bike and decide what real bike you may want next season. Don't spend $1,000 on an e-bike. Go closer to the $2,000 price point or get something like this. Even $1,000 you may be wishing you went ahead and got the more powerful one with the bigger battery. My battery alone cost more than $500
Is it possible to upgrade the battery? Also, by more power you just mean more torque I imagine? Cause this one does reach max legal speed if I heard correctly
Man, I appreciate the video. I just got my Rift yesterday and love it, but I definitely would be scratching my head trying to figure out how to get the rear wheel off. Thanks for making this clear and concise!
@@warrenjansen7096 Glad you found it helpful! Enjoy the ride! We love our Rifts!
Who makes the emoter? Is it a Befang?
@@MDHenry4 the motor is just branded "Jasion". No telling who makes it. I doubt it's Bafang though.
Handlebars also need to be swapped out for a more swept-back design. Straight bars didn't cut it!
Straight bars were great, I had to swap out the stem to get a better angle for riding.
a good battery is worth more than this bike.
Cool story bro
i would not trust the battery at this price ,fire hazard
...any bike that don't got even rudimentary fenders don't get my vote...super crappy pedals...wonder why they didn't just wire the rear LED light to the battery, if the front one is? I could do without the COLOUR LCD - the rear light is more important...Looks/sounds like it's more like a 250 watt motor...
E BIKE 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's not like a regular bike weighing 15-20 lbs. Lol
you deserve more subscribers, i dont even put in this much effort and I have more?
That might be one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said....
@@RiverbedRides your amazing, thanks for all the work you put into your videos!
Like the tires! Where did you get them? Maybe provide a link? Thx!
We like them too! They are super silent compared to the knobby tires that we took off. Got them on amazon - amzn.to/4b0lRPj

Thanks so much really appreciate it
Electric Bike report got 43 miles in PAS 5 so it might be worth it to check if your battery’s charging fully. A few defected cells and range decreases dramatically. Thank you
Thanks for the heads up. I don't see how they possibly achieved that range. My wife and I both own the Rift and both get the same range. Since this video I've even added a second 20ah battery to the Rift and get just barely over 40 miles now with double the battery.
@@RiverbedRides go figure… I don’t want to think that they faked the range to get more people to use their affiliate link 😩
I have a question sir what do the 3 green one yellow and one red light mean on the battery ?
These are the state of charge lights. Green means good, yellow means low and red means bad. Since there are five, I would assume each represents 20%. Meaning red means 20% left, two green means 80% left. I wouldn't bet the farm on the accuracy of them though.
I use mine for commuting to work and home
I think viewers should realize that with pedal assist you are not relying completely on the motor to get you up the hill so it’s less likely to stall as it did on the video. This is a less expensive bike so it will not have as much power as high end bike.
even my velotric nomad with 750w 1300 peak will cut out if i try to throttle only on certain dirt trails
I was about to buy one of this. But on like steep hill wise you need to help it out on pedaling wise? This would be my first electric price. Was looking something cheap for the time being to take me to my first job and such like responding to volunteer fire department calls and such. I do have a normal type bike. But would like to try a ebike wise.
The motor is just too underpowered to handle any kind of real hills. If you are already riding those hills on your pedal bike, it wouldn't be much different than what you're already experiencing. But once you're on flat, your legs will get a much deserved break.
@@RiverbedRides even on steady type decent incline hills? As I don't have a problem on a decent hill but steep one like forget it. Gonna push you up lol
@@brettphillips5267 The bike will do just fine on a steady incline, but a steep hill like the one in the beginning of the video, the bike had no chance. Most of the mileage I put on it in the video was steady hills and the bike did great.
Great and helpful video! A hundred times better than Jaison’s own video
All dem dang zip ties on the bike😤
I saw 25 of them blowing a red light if there in a biker gang
Blew my mind watching it keep up with traffic all hunched over on one wheel like that. My anxiety peaked just watching.
Good review...bought one myself this week and its working great. Just hope it holds up over time!
Thanks! I'd love to hear your feedback as you put miles on it. I'll be back with my observations as well at about 500 or so miles.
how's the bike holding up?
*New subscriber Great video! Although this bike isn't what I'm looking for, I like your presentation. I'm 60, with arthritic knees and right hip, so I'm looking for something with more power and range. It has made me rethink how I approach buying my first ebike on a very tight budget.
I'm happy to hear it was able to provide you some value, Ron! Thanks!
The step over is not as easy you would hope.
I am 5'3" and wonder if that one inch out of range would make for a sore ride?
My wife is 5' 6" and can put both feet flat on the ground with the seat at the lowest. I feel it would fit you just fine!
@@RiverbedRides Thank you for both the video and the prompt response.
I finally switched from a 26" to a 20". It was getting too hard to swing my leg over and mounting and dismounting were less than graceful. I'm 70 and 5'4". Don't do a Biden dismount.
The problem with the bike design is they make a one size fits all.
Do you think it would perform with the same result on trails?
Gentle trails, yes. I wouldn't take it downhill or on anything you expect to leave the ground. The forks have a warning sticker on them that says "Do not use for downhill or freeride".
Great review, not many Rift reviews out there. Thx! Today I took my Ride1Up LMTD on a ride until the battery died. Died at 40.6 volts, 19.5 miles, 14 AH 672 watt hour battery, torque sensor ebike. Bike has 2300 miles, and 16 months old.
Curious, what GPS app are you using. I'm buying a e-bike this weekend and would like to use one. Thanks for the video
I'm using an Android app called GPS Test. It's been the most accurate I've found so far. Enjoy your new e-bike! play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest
