That said, the game is still saddled with bugs and performance issues weeks after release, so how does it hold up now that the devs...

Family Camping Trip Interrupted by EXTREME VIOLENCE | Sons of the Forest Solo Part 2.5
woah... very cool concept. its like a reskinned 3d modeling software with progression systems functioning like a tutorial. but also systems to relay how model changes will actually effect weapon stats / performance... veyr cool idea.
Exactly what I was thinking. The mechanical systems for the performance changes are pretty hard to figure out right now, but for making swords this is pretty awesome
The only other forging game I've played was the flash game Jacksmith. I liked it quite a lot and I'm glad another 'forging focused' game is being made. Also, I can already see Skallagrim fans sending him cursed sword builds when this releases.
There aren’t many good forging games, I’m just glad someone is making one with such heavy customization
Ey yo my DnD weapons about to get designed
Man, making swords is my lifetime dream, this looks like so much fun!
@@ofnir123 if you don’t mind an editing interface, you’ll probably love this
Was this game abandoned?
Like by the devs or are you asking if I did a second video?
Last I heard it was fully released I thought
Thanks so much for that detailed video analyzing the game! You've only seen a tiny part of what we've got in the playtest build so far. We've got tons of great ideas for improvement and we've already passed them on to the devs. We hope you'll enjoy the final version even more!
My pleasure! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Yeah, the ballistic shield, unfortunately, doesn't protect from Melee attacks. 😒
Uh no. You already got the history at the beginning wrong. The original 1986 Chernobyl disaster happened and they contained it just like in our reality. However, unlike in our reality, the empty Zone of Exclusion was then used by a group of Soviet scientists to conduct clandestine research projects (the so-called Project X) which include high-tech weaponry, psychic control and the Noosphere, the informational field generated by human minds/thoughts that surrounds the Earth. The noospheric experiments intended to remove negative thoughts from human minds worldwide by directly tampering with the Noosphere backfired horribly and caused a breach or rift in the Noosphere in 2006 (resulting the very first Emission) enabling it to interfere directly with and break the laws of reality, defy physics, etc. THAT is what turned the original Zone of Exclusion into what it is now {the "Zone") after the original 1986 nuclear disaster and created the various anomalies, artifacts, mutants, etc. Emissions? Merely the periodic release of excess energy from the Noosphere that could not be contained by the scientists after they realised their mistake and tried to fix it. If you've never played the first 3 games, then check the Stalker wiki. It has loads of information including history and lore of the Zone.
I do appreciate the lore my guy, and I did forget about the containment thing, but the rest I left out because I didn’t want to spoil the first games and I have limited time
Also - a shoggoth in original Lovecraft is just a genetically engineered lifeform made by the alien race -The Elder Things - it’s essentially bio goop from a not particularly remarkable creature created to be a base labourer - not saying it couldn’t have interesting applications but to make a god out of it seems a bit of a stretch
Disappointed a bit in the creation story of the train , somewhat undermines the Lovecraft feel if you can make an elder god - would have probably accepted just a new guy falls into the train life and never gets a proper explanation as to where the train came from but thank you for covering a relatively obscure game the trailer of which caught my interest and made me keen to learn more
@@kopis117 Yeah and having lovecraft as the guy who sets it all up is a weird choice too. Always happy to talk about new indie games, especially when it helps you all decide whether a game is for you
Greetings
👋
To be fair, they did develop this while their country was being invaded by Russia. And they are dumping out patches pretty fast. I'll give them a pass considering its on gamepass.
I too wish to throw bolts at people and have them get mad. With that said I did find out you can lure "people" by tossing bolts so at least there's that. I know it 100% works on Zoms but I haven't really checked humans to be honest though but I have to guess it works on things that aren't detecting you yet.
I played the originals when they came out on disc, and bought and played them again when rereleased on Steam. I'm not at all a fan of the horror genre, but this franchise is really my exception to that rule. I think in part it's the eastern bloc sci-fi ground it's built upon. They are the only games where my character cowered in a small room watching the stairs leading down to the metal doors of another abandoned laboratory, while out in the real world I gave myself pep-talks to take that first step. It's a bizarre combination of dread, fear, and excitement and compulsion to keep exploring. I cannot think of another game series where the environment itself is the unspoken main character, and you are just another insignificant life form crawling over its surface.
@@majorgruber5925 Absolutely. The fact that the zone has such a life of its own makes everything else weirdly insignificant but a lot more personal at the same time
Soooooooo, I am veteran from the 1st part through 2 addons, and now to Stalker 2. Love this game. Your video is a good summary to new players, and describing franchise pretty well. P.S. According to lore, not the radiation created the Zone, but a group of scientists called The Group (idk the exact naming in English :D )
I hope they fix the fps drops soon. I do love this game. Let’s not complicate the plot though. It’s a guy that went to hell to get revenge on a rock that blew up his kitchen.
@@tjcarmichael07 Unfortunately there couldn’t possibly be any other identical apartments he could have moved into
The factions are what make S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so good. I love the feud between Freedom and Duty, Mercs, Monolith, Spark. They all just exist in the zone for their own reasons with no real good or bad guys (except maybe Monolith.)
The zone didn’t come about by the catastrophe, it was accidentally created by the C-conciseness.
Yes I know. Again, didn’t have time to explain all that and didn’t want to spoil the first game
I would remove eternal bolts.
Like bolts not despawning or having an infinite supply?
I absolutely love this game
aside from a couple bugs, S2 is exactly what I expected it to be. Veteran trilogy player will feels right at home. however if you're the kind that started Stalker with mod packs that drastically alter many aspects... S2 will likely not tick your fancy. There are too many complaints simply came from the fact that people trying to compare S2 with Misery, Anomaly or Gamma. of course, S2 is not a hero shooter, not a looter shooter. This is not an instant gratification game. That's another type of player that constantly complaining things...
I agree. I can see the weird vibes since some people were expecting it to be something completely different. But as a Stalker game? I think it’s fantastic
Stalker 2 is a story telling game, much more than Misery, Anomaly or Gamma. I am sure a lot of mods will turn S2 into their version after some time.
4:03 you can see something wery important... something blue... 😅
@@Krayton86 Yeah I completely ran past it the first time
If you look closely at the brand on Skif's personal knife, you can see the markings of the Ukrainian Marine Corps. So Skif is a former Marine.
Good eye, I didn’t notice that
And a combat vet, although his tenure in Ukrainian Navy was fairly brief.
I'll agree with you up until a certain scientific facility that I will not spoil. The game completely breaks into pieces after this point. It is so unfortunate because everything prior to this is brilliant.
The game is great, tons of interesting locations. The atmosphere is awesome. The underground locations are really scary. Huge zone with tons of interesting locations and hidden stashes to explore.
I love the world building in this game. The first few locations are a bit bland but it only keeps getting better from there
sooo... about the history of the stalker universe... you're a bit wrong about that... In the game world, the zone did not arise because radiation contaminated the surroundings, the history of the universe begins kinda after the first disaster in 1986. Coz the zone is a closed uninhabited territory where there are still other working blocks of the nuclear power plant, which produce a large amount of energy, there are laboratories with scientists who research a bunch of different things, including creating mutants from animals and people (yes - a large number of mutants are not like that because of radiation, although there are some there), and one of the main studies is the noosphere (the information field of the earth) - and based on this, you can "briefly say" that the zone arose as a result of unsuccessful experiments with the noosphere. And so - it was "very short" because in fact this whole story with the research of Project X, with a large number of relevant laboratories and things the like is a very interesting and mysterious story, which was to some extent revealed by the first and third games of the original series, which generated a lot of theories among fans and received its disclosure in the new game. It's all really interesting and fascinating and if someone is interested, then it makes sense to get acquainted with the old games, but not necessarily, a lot will be explained to you and so + you can learn something from audiologists, notes and your own research into the world of the zone. Good hunting, stalker!
Not to deflate you or anything, because I appreciate the lore for those who want it, but I’m a review channel first and foremost. No matter how much I’d love to dive into the deep lore in a video, I’ve only got about 15-30 seconds to keep a viewer’s attention. Plus I didn’t want to spoil anything the first game doesnt mention right at the start
Little correction: Stalker is not a RPG, it's a Survival Horror FPS.
An RPG (Role Playing Game) is a title in which the player takes on the role of a character in a game that functions as a story. Outside the definition, most people see an RPG game as one where the player can advance their character through equipment or levels and make decisions that alter the story, both of which Stalker 2 does. Yes it is a survival horror FPS, but it is also an RPG
Сталкер знаходиться на межі кількох жанрів
Waiting for all bugs to be polished, that's one of the best games I've played. Definitely top 10
They are already gone 99%
Game of the year!
I think it has been nominated IIRC
@Voice_InMyHead Game really deserves it, it's still has so much potential. DLCs, future patches makes it even better, I really believe that.
Even though I was still a child when Shadow of Chernobyl was released, I, like most children in Ukraine at that time, simply couldn't tear myself away from the game. For me, the Stalker and Metro series are a reason to be proud of Ukrainian game development. So, even understanding and acknowledging all the problems of Stalker 2, for me it is one of the best games of all time, and I am sincerely glad that more and more people around the world are getting involved in this fictional world of the Zone. Not to mention the fact that this game is one of the few that left me breathless after finishing it.
@@bloodangelsassaultracoon3067 I was just a kid when Shadow of Chernobyl released too. Didn’t play it til later but the world always fascinated me. The fact that this game was made during wartime is honestly an incredible feat of dedication from the devs.
Im currently on Metro New Light as well as reading the novel. I cant believe Ive only recently discovered this incredible series! Cant think of any other game quite like it.
Yeah! I love Metro. Books and games are both really great
I'm 48 and feel like a child saying this but......my son is getting me this game for Christmas and I've been watching videos like yours to get me a little understanding on this game. Great video!
That’s so sweet! One of my favorite things about games is when they can bring people back to the excitement of feeling like a kid. I think you're gonna love this game, see you in the zone o7
@@Voice_InMyHead Thanks for the comment. I am really excited for this game because during the Summer (due to mowing/working on the house/ working on cars) I don't have much time to play games so in the Winter I get more free time. I heard it's pretty glitchy but I also heard they put out a big update. I am going to be playing this on the Xbox. Did they put out an update and if so did it help with some of the glitches? I'm about to look through some of your other videos because for all I know you have a video on it. Just curious.
They’ve fixed a lot of the game-breakers. Bugs are mostly happening on PC though, so you should be in better shape than I am actually. And I’ve only had to reload for bugs once or twice, and quit to menu when the game spawns too many NPCs in towns at once
@@j.j.lanblaster42390 they've just put up the biggest 1.1 patch yesterday followed by a small hotfix. The game is fully playable now, chances are you never encounter anything gamebreaking but it's still not finished with ALL the fixes and additions, like they've implemented functioning A-life (NPC living in the zone simulation) just yesterday, and it's still just the first working itteration only, so the game is still a little bit unfinished and underpolished, but it's ready for 95% of players already.
You are like completely wrong about why Zone happen, it had nothing to do with radiation
I know, but I didn’t want to dive too deep into information that would spoil the first game
you've got the story all wrong bro, radiation didnt cause the anomalies, go read the wiki about it.
Yeah but I was not about to launch into a deep dive about the Noosphere and that’s only information you get at the end of Stalker 1 anyway
HP - hollow point lol
Well yes, but isn’t P+ high power?
@@Voice_InMyHead +P stands for overPressure. AP stands for Armor Piercing. And all of them technically "higher power"than the standard ammunition ;)
@@robinhood263 Ah. I knew about HP and AP but P+ I just assumed means “power +.” Thanks for the info 🤍
Nice job on the review though.
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Good hunting stalker
Very much in the "never played the OG - wanted to see what the hype was about" camp. Not disappointed. I'm loving this, from the story to the gameplay, to the incredibly harsh inventory management - absolutely loving it <3 It's kind of everything I never realised I wanted in an (essentially) FPS. Many many bugs yes, but none have been of a "screw this - I'm done" variety. Haven't finished it yet, but already looking forward to playing again and doing things slightly different. The world is great and I wanna spend more time there.
I’m really glad you like it! Stalker is one of my favorite series and this game brought a lot of new players into the mix. I’ve seen some of the particularly nasty bugs the game has, but I also played through Cyberpunk right after it came out, so take that as you will, lol
Bugs and stuttering are almost exclusively a PC problem due to old and frankly antiquated PCs that had no business running the game in the first place. I played on a Series X and had no problems. People are running this on a Series S and enjoying the game, so there is a solution, and it's on Gamepass. Win win for the gamers!
ive been balls deep in the game for a few days now myself, game is spectacular but does have a decent amount of problems right now. The biggest being that A life is not in the game right now and will come later (the AI system that makes npcs extremely dynamic and makes the world feel alive around you). Other problems are repair costs are insane and punishing which they said they are looking at, as well as the human AI are all trained navy seal snipers even with sawn off double barrel shotguns from 1 mile away. Great game and im honestly excited to play it again in a year when everything is fixed up. 2 mods i highly recommend are mutants drop loot to balance out the repair costs and make you feel like fighting them is worth something, and better gunfights that make the human AI less accurate from long and medium range for a more realistic feel.
Oh I didn’t actually know A life wasn’t implemented yet, that makes a lot more sense. And I agree, the game is phenomenal but does have a lot of issues still. Seeing as it was made in a war zone, I have a lot more tolerance for issues than I normally would, though
I wouldn’t exactly call any game with Leon ‘The Sex’ Kennedy survival or horror need it’s from the perspective of the enemies.
@@GlowstickMuncher The survival comes from playing as Leon during NNN
@ Survival implies a chance of success. That challenge is doomed to failure.
