DIY Headlight Bulb Replacement: Easy Guide | Car Care Tips
I can't see the reasoning with the use of wet belts Toyota don't use them and both our vehicles are chains timing chains the absolutely best for any vehicle and my 1997 Toyota Hilux has a cam chain and its original lets see a wet belt last 28 years and 440000 kilometres and there are certain vehicles that won't last 28 years let alone do 440000 kilometres
I came here because my seat belt is wet, I just noticed it the other day. Can anyone tell me why? drivers side and wet when it's pulled out about a foot. ta
VW use wet belts for the oil pumps.Honda also use wet belt seems they all do it I have a 2023 ford focus ecoboost hybrid but it's on a 3year lease so will go back after 3 years .
Ecoboom
As a life time engineer, I accept the failed concept of wet belt design. The route of the problem, engineers who are theorists, not practicalists, people who have no long term understanding of basic engineering principles, they design things without understanding the implications, after time in use, which absolutely proves their Naïvety in design.
I have an Smax 2.5T with Volvo engine. Timing belt last approx 200.000km according to service book and dealer. No wet belt for me.
Let's name and shame these companies
If you're getting a diesel, just put up with the clattering and banging and vibrations.
Wet belts were introduced to limit the life of a car engine and make more money for the manufacturers. The fuel saving is minimal if at all.
You didn’t mention Honda, they use wetbelt on 10th generation civic with 1.0 3 cylinder turbo
Won't you think they would of researched more on wet belts before they implemented them. Why change things that work as opposed to them that don't. All at the cost of the customer.
Do not buy wet belts. Ever.
Somewhat like Boeing : at the helm are too many MBAs/beancounters, and too few engineers
Stay clear of wet belts and timing chains that are fitted behind the flywheel !!!
They're s hit so don't buy one! Simple.
JUST DON'T
It's a ticking time bomb. Owners should sue manufacturers, like diesel claims. It's a bloody stupid idea.
What the fart language do you speak? Sounds English, but it's not!
But a renault
What anidiot who designed a wet timing belt,if your going to own a 3 cylinder,by a renault, not ford citreon peugeot Renault has timing chain
What do you need to know? NEVER buy a car with one!
As others stated , just dont buy an engine with a wet belt or a dpf system
Does anyone know if wet belts are used in any of the volkswagon/audi engine range? Thankhou.
No they use dry belts
@@pappirickiThey do use wet belts to run the oil pump in some engines. Same issue as ford/peugeot. Some VW engine model timing chains are bad too, very important to do proper homework before buying a VAG product.
Excellent video, great info. Thanks for sharing, Cheers
BULL , OIL AND RUBBER WILL NEVER GOOD TO EACHOTHER
What is the best brand to buy...? Dayco, INA, Gates...? I need it for Peugeot 208 1.2 Puretech...
We prefer to fit Dayco & INA
What is a wet belt ? A money making idea for the manufacturer
Yes you truly right there
This year I bought a 02 transporter with a 1.9td engine no ECU gets 40-45 mpg if I don't hammer it (which I don't!) bit noisy not as refined as a modern van but I've pre-fixed all the known issues to get ahead of them, 227000 miles and she starts on the button every time. This year also a friend bought a 2024 transit, half an hour down the road after leaving the forecourt all lights went out on the dash and had to be rescued. The dealership didn't even offer to rescue him presumably to avoid liability. Anyways I informed him seeing as it has a wet belt that it was just the start of his worries. Even if I won one in a raffle I'd just sell it on and take the money 😂
It runs through HOT oil so not only is the rubber being slowly degraded by the oil but the heat as well. What happens if you heat up rubber and let it cool o er and over 😂
Are you 110% sure?
Downvote. Stop telling me subscribe in the middle of the screen, and more than once!
Another stupid idea from 'engineers' straight out of university with zero mechanical knowledge. Another good idea is the Audi engine with the oil pump that disengages below 2000rpm! If these idiots knew anything, they would realize that this is motorway speed for most modern engines.
Those boots are 🔥
Criminal. Designed to fail. No thanks.
as the oil heats up and fuel gets in the oil, different compounds get formed that will break the belt down over time
Don’t forget this trade ..Better money in others trade ..look it up ..Ball breaker of a game ..
Is he English
I have done a fair amount of these and make sure if you are doing the belt due to oil pressure problems clean the vaculm pump gause and the pressure switch and back flush out the oil pump and clean the engine of any debris..
Wet belts a crime against the motor industry
the worst stupid car invention ever.... this is sabotage of an engine... rubber and oil do not mix... very unreliable and super costly... decent car companies do not do stupid things like this !!!!
Not just Peugeot and fords. VWs have wet belts driving the oil pump on some Transporters I only learnt that after oil pressure issues when the belt disintegrated
All you need to know is they're shite don't buy a car with this type of engine
Wetbelts on transit Tip from mate at ford... Take pan off bottom as the rubber belt debris collecting on pickup... 5000/6000 mile oil changes, and you will not have an issue... It is better to pay for oil. Then a new engine😂
Can you convert a fort transit custom from wet belt to timing chain ? Is it something people do ?
Designed in weakness, why would they do this when modern petrol and diesel engines are so good nowadays? Oh yea…..cause problems, expensive problems and nudge drivers into guess what, EV cars. Whole thing is a money making scam. Save the planet my arse.
The bad oil, yes, jut mostly bad oil rings, or cokd engines. Oil get diluted with petrol and fumes, and it eats the rubber. The more often you do cokd starts, the more often you need to change the oil, check the belt, oil pickup, ect... It's doyble the maintenance. So much for fuel savings.
There are ideas which need some polishing before they work. Wet belt just needs special materials, maybe change interval revised but apart from that I see nothing criminal.
Do Ford Motorhomes have wet belts? I know they suffer with injector failures........
Got a 2013 corsa 1.2 already replaced the engine had it two and a half years thought these engines were bad enough at least it's got a chain and its not rattling yet.touch wood 🪵😂
What s there to Know ?Its Just a Belt running in used Engine oil Until it Destroys Your Engine and Thats it,Dont buy a Car With one!!!!!!!!!!
