I lived in the Springs for 5 years, it was great, but I was military and groceries were a better price on base. Gas, same thing. We also got reduced price ski passes and rentals. I had my own. This was 1989-1994.

Denver Airport hack… rent a car from CS for ~$60, Drive to the airport, refuel, and drop it off. Then take the rental car bus directly to the airport. Easy as can be, never pay for the parking lot again. Also when I fly out of the CS Airport, I take Ubers each way for $20-$30.

So there it is. I have lived here my whole life and completely agree. Anywhere outside of the city is definitely the better choice !

I work for Costco in south Florida, my dream is to move to Colorado. I see all these comments about how Co springs is horrible bc of homeless and it’s expensive…Ive looked in every city where there’s a Costco in Colorado and Co springs is by far the cheapest…correct me if I’m wrong but Denver, gypsum, fort Colins…all more expensive

#6 - Violent crime is out of control.

I have never lived in a place where people raved about how good the traffic was. I lived in Columbia, SC - their idea of traffic was having to wait through 2 light cycles instead of 1. I've also lived in the Atlanta metro - if it snowed - you might not make it home that night.

How many people _actually_ have the choice between Colorado Springs and Denver? You move to the city with the job. Right? The exception would be my case - a remote worker. In that case, I could work/live anywhere in the US. I choose Colorado Springs. Our family wanted to be in Colorado and we looked at all the cities along the Front Range. My cousin eliminated Pueblo for us - although that wasn't hard as the views aren't that great down there anyway. I suppose the other scenario would be unrelated to work - like retirement or being independently wealthy.

Every time I visit Denver I have a good time but I'm also thankful I don't actually live there. I'm also disappointed in the mountain view from Denver vs the Springs. I love it here but if I didn't have a remote job, I would be so screwed.

Colorado attracts the WORST humans. Druggie loser who wanna smoke weed and be bums or woke lunatics who are full blown communists. On top of that, it's one of the most corrupt states in the country. It's the 3rd most dangerous state in the country and #1 in the country for car theft. Fuck Colorado forever!

My thoughts about Colorado/Colorado Springs: Too much traffic here because of tourism. Lots of pot holes on the roads and lots of construction going on all of the time. It seems like a lot of people are moving here and the infrastructure is not able to support it anymore. There are also no good paying jobs for the most part since Colorado Springs did nothing to keep the high tech companies that were here when they were here and we do nothing to try and attract companies here who could bring in good paying jobs as they give all of the money to the olympic training center due to this place wanting to cater towards tourism only as a main source of income. Government jobs here that hire a lot of military people also require that you already have a high level security clearances. Lots of minimum wage jobs here that most donot want. cost of living here is very high and it keeps going up like everywhere else. rental property, property taxes, homes buying, home owners insurance, auto insurance or renting are high for what you get and apartments monthly rent is very high just like everywhere else. we have tornado's here, hail, flash flooding, cold weather and snow and the climate here is dry, not humid and we have fires here. we get a lot of wind in general since we are so close to the mountains. In 2023 The colorado Sun said that we hosted 93.3 million visitors in 2023. which explains the conditions of our roads. And guess what; since there is no tourism tax. The people that live in colorado pay for the wear and tear of the roads cause by those 93.3 million visitors in 2023 through taxes. A lot of bad drivers here since a lot of people come here from someone else and they have their own version of driving and a lot of road rage. You didn’t move to Colorado; you moved to Colorado Springs.

Still upper 90’s in Austin in October. It barely cools down at night. Concrete too hot to walk your dogs most of the day without booties. Crime is out of control. Homeless druggies marauding like zombies and stealing your mail and everything not nailed down outside. Factor in the cost of running your whole house AC for at least 9 months a year. Heat, humidity, mold, and other allergens are brutal. Nearly the whole state is miserable, and it takes a day to get out of the state from central Texas. Air quality sucks compared to the Springs. Housing and property taxes are ridiculous. I get it though…family is what brought me back and kept me here, but I’m out as soon as can be!

I moved to CS three years ago from California and it was the best decision I ever made. Love the open space and Mountain views. I’m just concerned about all the liberals moving here. I left California to escape they destruction they cause.

CO voters got rid of Ghallagher. Property taxes won’t be low anymore. How dumb does CO voters have to be to willingly get rid of their residential property tax protections.

I wish you and the family best wishes and safe travels on your move back to Texas…but, oh no! My husband and I are considering relocating to Colorado Springs next year. Although we will miss Lake Travis sunsets, we are ready for mountain views and endless hiking opportunities. You were on my list to contact!
