Omega Cal. 26.5 T3 Military Watch: Full Restoration & Nickel Plating
This restoration of an almost 100-year-old Omega military watch includes a full service of the non-running Cal. 26.5 T3 movement, a complete case overhaul with soldering work, and a nickel plating process to ensure resistance to future corrosion. Additionally, it involves applying luminescence to the watch hands and making fine adjustments to the balance hairspring collar to reduce beat error.

Fantastic restoration! Good luck everyone!
That is an absolutely beautiful watch! Thank you for your generosity and the opportunity to win it!
Greetings from Germany.
I am waiting for the results with great curiosity.
Omega and Military OMG. I want this watch :)
Nicely done, GWC. It's clear why Swiss made watches are so popular, they are tough and have great longevity.
Love watching you work and explain the process but the music is horrible and makes it difficult to focus solely on what you’re doing.
First video :) Lost the music in following videos.
I like the aging of the lume, but would rather use brewed liquid coffee, than the powder. But the watch still looks beautiful!
I really appreciate your informative commentary and creative use of techniques accessible to a hobbyist! And you capture some operations that are very difficult to film. This watch was interesting - a split bi-metallic compensation balance in a wristwatch! With Nivarox hairsprings coming out in 1933 this must have been right on the transition to monometallic balances even for expensive watches. You triggered me to read about that: Thanks!
This is visual poetry !!
❤
Soldering the caseback was an impressive solution. Being new to watchmaking I would never have thought of that. Also I've seen other watchmaker use liquid coffee but never coffee grounds. It made the lume interesting with the spots.
Hi and Good Luck with the channel! Thanks for the content 🎉
1930 beatify! Thank for posting
Great watch. Great vid
Outstanding restoration. Lume looks great and complements its well 😃
What will happen to the grains of coffee visible in the hands over time?
Why on Earth have you not popped up in my 'recommended' before now? It's nice to find another watchmaking channel where the artisan describes their actions and methods verbally. Very refreshing. You have another subscriber. Oh, and hello from Western Australia 🖐
Thanks a lot. Greetings to Australia
Sehr schönes Projekt😄
Good job! I would go for coffee brew instead of powder, you will get a more uniform shade and also get rid of the spots. Fingers crossed for the giveaway!
Stunning work! If you want to get a more homogeneous effect on the aged lume, instead of the coffee grains you can brew an actual coffee and put some liquid drops into the mix, it gives an awesome patina. Good job and good luck everybody for the giveaway 👍🏻
Lovely watch!
Good work.
Nicely done restoration! I liked the wrist band also. 👍🏻
Such a relaxing video. Very satisfying watching your progress. Cheers!
Really enjoyed the video. Happy to have another watchmaker to follow.
Excellent job and I’d be honored to win this precious prize
Wow, what an incredible transformation!! Being very new to the world of watches, I found this video by accident, and I am so glad I did. What an amazing opportunity to learn. Such a clear, concise, and informative way to show the broad repertoire of skills a craftsman can have. Thank you so much, I can't wait to learn more.
Nice restoration of a beautiful old watch. Love the dial.
Thanks for such a great video. I’m on a binge of your channel now! May I ask, did omega do a lot of unbranded dials? How/where do you research what case it belongs in? If you get the right case for the watch is that considered perfectly ‘correct’ in the eyes of collectors or does it fall in a grey area between technically correct and frankenwatch? As I’m not a pedant I think it’s a beautiful watch you have saved from oblivion.
That is a very good point you raise here. In case of this watch in particular it sadly falls into the "grey area". The dial belongs to the movement, the hands are original to the dial, and the case is correct for the movement. So technically it is fine, but it could have originally been a different case for the caliber as well. I am not sure why they did the unbranded dials, I'd need to to some research myself. But by googling the case reference numbers and looking at pictures you can see that the reference 132.019 exists with an unbranded dial and a Geneve print. So both work. Besides this reference number, I could't find any that take the caliber 600/601 with unbranded dial. That is why I chose this case. If I have the chance I like to get it absolutely accurate and technically correct, but it's not always possible.
@@GermanWatchmakingChannel I know you understood my question as academic. Of course unless ‘you’ as in a person not you you, are in it for the financial it is really irrelevant. You created a beautiful thing that I for one and most people would be lucky to own. It just struck me this is a new situation for me where it’s possible to argue either way so is interesting. I am learning watchmaking myself and I thank you for your videos. I hope you keep going! This vid got me thinking though. I’m looking forward to researching it myself after your kind reply. Will let you know if I find anything!
Fantastic restoration, came out way better than I expected especially with what you had to work with. Would be great to own a watch like this because or you restoration and service you got see every part of this watch inside.
I just descovered your channel and after looking at you restoration's wonderful job I instanttly subscribed to it. Have you done a video teaching tecniques for electroplating?
You have brought the beauty out of that watch with your restoration. Loved the video :) I love hand wind, vintage dress/field watches with a small sub-seconds. This era is particularly interesting to me as there is a real blur of those two types of watch, as even field watches looked beautiful. That dial looks amazing and is very reminiscent of a pocket watch dial.
Hast du Instagram oder eine andere Plattform auf der man dir schreiben kann? :)
Danke für deine Videos! 🫶
Very nice watch. Well done.
Nice restoration! Happy to find new watch repair channels to follow. 😊
Ich habe genau die gleiche Uhr und mir fehlt auch der Sekundenzeiger. Wie hast du deinen gefunden? Kennst du zufällig noch die Maße?
Yes the old look 👀 with the coffee really did the trick
Great to watch I love these old watches good luck with your new cannel .
Very good job.I like the way you done the loom on the hands
