Lovely lovely video.. I would watch a lot more of these kinds of videos ...
Hey - I was enjoying watching this video and found it very jarring to hear you use the phrase “sp*zz out”. That’s a slur that is really hurtful for disabled folks to hear, and I hope you only said it because you were unaware of that fact and will not continue to use it in future.
@EssieRuthMakesA) I had no idea, so thank you for telling me B) I'm surprised I said it because it's not part of my usual lexicon, but sometimes my speech gets weird when I'm on camera C) I will endeavor to not say it in the future Thank you 💕 Edit: yep, went back and rewatched and totally said it. I'm sorry. I regret that.
@ I figured it must have been a mistake, and I totally understand the feeling of your words getting away from you when you’re doing a voiceover - it happens to me aaaaall the time 🙃
@EssieRuthMakes and those problematic neural pathways we built in our youths when things were considered "normal" sadly persist.
I love your hatred of re-writing things 😂❤
I would ❤ to purchase that cover
@@TheDkelley that's very kind, unfortunately I decided I didn't have the tools or the setup to make these at the level of finesse that I'd want
I understand that ❤
Honestly, I would just switch to something else and leave it for a sketchbook, lol.
@@jaquelinemythril2602 I will not be beaten!! (I totally would too if it had any more pages than it does)
@KatiesCraftStudio Your dedication is inspiring! Best of luck. I'll be eagerly awaiting news of the superior paper booklet you move into next 🥰
lol 😂 I’ve been down that Rabbit Hole. Thank you for sharing for others who are in touch with that emotion. Just subscribed. 😊
@@TheRetroBookshelf excited to have you! ☺️
Oh no - is what I said out loud when you mentioned hating the cream paper. Seeing the white stickers against it reminds me of why I used to dislike it as well. I guess I started falling for it when I noticed I preferred how my warmer pen inks looked on the paper. And I fell down the washi / PET sticker rabbit hole (not a solution, but I guess I forgot!). I love how it’s looking so far and if you ever feel like you just can’t with your other inserts, I’ll be happy to buy them off you bc I love Midori cream paper. 🥰
I have cream paper in my book journal and that's a pen only situation with brown ink and it's amazing. I don't mind it in my Weeks where I only use black. So I just failed to anticipate that I would hate it here. Oh well, live and learn. It's encouraging me to sketch more and that's not a bad thing. Plus, only 19 spreads to go! I appreciate the offer but I've already relocated the other two to a photo journal and they're totally fine for that. Phew! Edit: 17 spreads, even better!!
@ yay! I’m glad you already reposted them and that you’re well on your way to finishing it. I have been enjoying using inserts as well for journaling this year. I normally prefer a thicker book as I agree it feels more special, but I’ve also been stuck using a book that I didn’t love because I was too stubborn to change until it was completed. At least with inserts, I know I don’t have to wait a whole year to try something else.
@@LittleCocoStudio exactly, a book can be a long commitment and sometimes it's fun to just experiment, iterate or just get a fresh start.
I am the exact opposite! I don’t like TRP & I love the cream paper and 5mm grid in the travelers notebook inserts.
@@mrshadenoughofallthis911 I'm glad there are options out there for both of us!
@@KatiesCraftStudio It took me a couple of years to find this out! I was using Filofax planners with Filofax inserts since the 80s. Then I really didn’t like them anymore. I tried all sorts of Hobonichi options before trying travelers notebook. Like you, I like that a book doesn’t last too long. And I like the flexibility.
@mrshadenoughofallthis911 I'm really looking forward to getting a regular fresh start!
I bought a Traveller's Journal and immediately hated it. The format was too narrow for me to comfortably write in it. So I switched back to my favorite, a Leuchturm. This year I splurged and bought the official Bullet Journal with stickers.
@@SusansColorfulExpressions i just finished reading his book and the temptation to switch entirely to that right now is pretty strong. I hope yours serves you well!
Also I have made a separate book for putting photos in so that way I can show the journaling side and perhaps not so much the picture side if I dont want to which having everything separate is awesome and stressful :)
@@MissMarilynDarling yeah, I already have a separate one for my little baby nephew. But at the end of the day, I don't owe anyone access to my journal and I'm ready to think of it as private by default instead of the other way around.
Yeah I have had the same problem with hobonichi toucho cousin I am terrified that it's going to bleed through so I am already thinking about moving into a GLP creations the author notebook 68 GSM tomoe river no book last year it was fine we will see what happens if I have to move into it this year
Not 100% happy with past me's decision to go with a no-name planner that turned out to have wonky, misaligned dots wandering all over the place, but I can live with it for the next sixish months.
@@katendress6142 eww, wonky dots. That's so annoying!
I love that you made it ok for me to already hate my planners for 2025 😂 LOL
@@MoniM_ awww how sad! What are you using? What do you hate about it?
Girl, I bought the hobo cousin, in it for a month and freaked! Currently waiting on the Hemlock and Oak. I’m just using for an actual planner though, strictly functional. I started to have the idea in the hobo of light memory keeping and planning, NOPE. I learned I need the two separate so I have a 365 Stalogy for journal that stays home. A brain dump and to do list that goes everywhere with me and once H&O arrives it will also go everywhere and it’s my planner , minimal a5 size so I can use my covers, lol. I’m currently trying to figure out how to use my hobo cousin so I don’t waste it😮
That does sound like quite the journey! Hopefully the H&O lives up! 🤞🤞
I’m so sorry that you aren’t loving your choices, hopefully you’ll find something that makes you happy. Your sketches are amazing, you have great talent. Best wishes to you on finding something that makes you happy, because that’s what matters most.
@@SuzxieZone73 thank you! I like to experiment so even though I don't like this particular insert, I'll enjoy seeking out one I like!
I'm with you - bought a Kinbor weekly for my health planner - stared at it for 2 days and went back to my Jibun layout in my travelers notebook. LOL Now trying to figure out what the heck to do with my Kinbor - it's dated - I NEED to do something with it!!!
I love that you made it ok for me to already hate my planners for 2025 😂 LOL
I am using my Kinbor weekly as a gratitude journal, I got it as a test to see if I would like to have a Hobonichi weeks next year, the answer is no 😂, but I will stick to it anyway for this year.
@@Janice54 what didn't you like about it?
@@KatiesCraftStudio I love...the paper and the size...But the horizontal layout just left me frustrated trying to figure out how to make it work...I am a vertical girl...I have decided to use it for my goal Journal...fingers crossed...
@@Janice54 that makes sense to me!
Love the cougar; looks awesome on the cream paper. I’m in the minority in that I like the cream paper. Not a whole lot of pre-made journals/notebooks with the cream though. For now, my 5-year Hobo satisfies that cream paper craving. I went through a B6-slim phase and yes, that can be a struggle too. Seems like I never make it easy for myself!😂
Oh, thought the hobo weeks was the only cream option they had? Isn't 5 year same as the cousin paper?
@@jaimespearman8328 Nope, the 5-year is cream. I'm into my 3rd year so purchased in 2023 but did double check the 2025 journals at the Hobo site and they are also cream.
I’m with you I love the cream paper as well, don’t find many others who like it. The cousin and the five year use a whiter paper than the weeks but not that stark white that most planners use. I have used both and love them, but I love the cream paper best of all. I wish there were more options in cream.
@@Tina.Journals I like cream paper just fine in my book journal and my Weeks, both of which I only write in black or brown. It's the interaction with color I don't personally like. But I totally understand why people do, there's a coziness to it.
@@jaimespearman8328 The 5-year Hobo has cream paper also. Wish Hobonichi would make a plain notebook with the cream...
I have a feeling I am going to be in a similar boat. I made a snap decision to start off with a Traveler's Company 002 insert as part of my "use the bleep you have" vibe I'm trying for in 2025. I am already having to increase my nib sizes to deal with the dryness and the ginormous grid. I am trying to knock myself out of my comfort zone a bit as well in the hopes that it sparks some creativity. I freaking hope it works!
@@cerealnana I'm sorry, it's not a good feeling. But hopefully we can both challenge ourselves, learn something and then get the heck outta there!
Super cool idea! Not sure it would work for me, but I love seeing this kind of innovation. Love it!
Oh yeah it's totally a specialized use case, but it's fun to come up with weird stuff that might help like 5 people 😃
Very cool layout! Can’t wait to hear how it works for you
So far so good!!
That dog portrait you painted was beautiful!
Thank you! My friend just got it in the mail and she was so happy 💕
Please, for your weekly layout can you pls explain the sections. This would be helpful for us.
I thought I had, but it's possible I missed something. I'll try to be more thorough next time.
I really need to incorporate trackers back into my system!
They've been working really well for me this week!
Awesome idea...may use it somehow. I have used a Dutch door system in the first 2 quarters of 2024. It was totally different and took so much space that a standard A5 notebook could barely hold 3 months. And I started using slim notebooks to hold 1 month at a time. Anyway, this is making the gears turn in my brain. I am using a Sgerling ink N2 Vertical as an everyday carry, and seeing what you are accomplishing in this size is great!
@@martawetmore these Dutch doors can be wasteful so I only wanted to do it if I could find a way that didn't mean throwing out sheets of TRP
This is giving me ideas for my health tracker that I now need to do. Thank you!
@@cerealnana ooooh *ideas*, I'm excited to see what you come up with
I think I may have to try this!!!

Was this the idea we surfaced in the discord??? I love your ingenuity.
@JunieOutdoors hah, I genuinely don't remember. Maybe?
Love the simple but fun layout. Thank you for the inspiration!
@@TheHappySoso I'm glad you thought it was cool!
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I just pulled the last booklet section from last years A6 planner that I barely used to make some loose reference sheets for this year and I am so excited.
@@katiefitzpatrick9945 oh good, I'm so glad it was helpful!
I had the same problem with that screw getting loose. If you get in the habit of using the bolt screw clicker thingy from the 1:00 to 3:00 position, or on the “J” side of that grove, it always tightens it. It’s not a 100% but it does seem to help.
@@johndufford4986 thanks, I'll give that a try! I've also thought about adding some Loctite
I do love your ingenious weekly layout!! I am such a vertical planner girl, but this dashboard idea is awesome!
Thanks! I hope it works for me as well as I've been picturing it! 🤞
Do you sell these trifold planner? I need this!!!
No, sorry, I don't. I don't have the equipment or skills necessary to produce them at the finesse level buyers would expect.
That moving the sticky note from week to week thing i need to do that cause having to write in my normal weekly tasks is annoying. :)
Yeah, I don't have a lot of patience for repetitive tasks, so I like to come up with systems that avoid them!
love it
Thank you 💕
I was very loyal to a pocket weekly Moleskine for over a decade but when both my kids were in High School the Moleskine no longer worked for me to keep track of three schedules. This was my year to try things out. I tried a Paper Tess Design B6 for my memory keeper/long journal and a Paper Tess Design Weeks for my EDC. Love them both and will be doing the same thing in 2025. The one thing I’m still testing out is my Master Planner so I’m going to test out a B5 Sterling Ink Common Planner and Twines and Paper B6 Hybrid. I love the Dutch door design in the weekly that you’ll be trying out.
@@leslierooney5159 it sounds like you've got a lot of my favorite planners in your lineup, I hope they serve you well!
<3 <3 <3
“I succeed best when I have entering visible to me” - that’s exactly how I feel. Even if I can’t fit it all on one page/book, I have to have my schedule and task list open on my desk at all times so I can glance at them whenever I want. It kind of reminds of my cheat sheets I would make for my stats exams. I learned how to write really small for those 😂 I was tempted to try the B5 sized Sterling Ink planner for next year so I could fit even more on one page. Not sure if I’d be ok with keeping that open on my desk all day, though. And I also wanted the dated daily pages.
The tension between "I need to see everything" and desk space is so real. Thankfully I also write really small. Hopefully B6S will be enough space, I think I designed things thoughtfully but the only way to know is to run the experiment!
The only thing I don't quite like about the design is that it posts terribly. because of the indent and that locking mechanism for the cap to not twist when you cap it, you can only post it when the protruding parts in the cap and the dent on the barrel align, and when it is so, the clip doesn't align with your nib. I mean this is not a big issue, but the one I feel might bother those who sometimes prefer to post their pen, the fitting is based on the magnet, so there's a huge gap between the diameter of the cap and the barrel once you fit it, and it shakes, I mean it doesn't really shake when you right unless maybe you write very aggressively but enough that when you move your position a little you can kind of feel it move if your hand is large enough or your grip is further up enough it's where the cap fits the barrel. I'd prefer if the fitting is quite tight where the cap diameter is about the same as the barrel its fitting on, and especially that it doesn't shake. But if you don't mind not posting the nib is fabulous, it's slightly wet, and it's really smooth. Your handwriting would look better if you can write fast. I
@@holohulolo yeah I don't generally post my pens

The last five months have been really hard and so haven't really wanted to write in it. I stayed with the A5 Sterling Ink common planner as my EDC, but my health planner I went with Plans by Just Scribble and for my work planner I went with a B6 SI CP.
