I seem to love Stevie’s demos and unreleased material even more than her recorded stuff. There’s a raw honesty and real emotion in these that seems to get lost during the recording, production and mixing process..in her demos she just sings straight from the heart, and there’s a simplicity to them that hides their complexity.

I remember listening to this song during a very difficult period in my life, thinking to myself hoping I would get out of this struggle of depression and anxiety and it’s been 12 years later a lot has changed but the depression remains. No matter how much it has changed I remember the struggle like a season that comes back every year to remind me to appreciate my life and the ones around me but I’m alone now. So I sit and listen to my favorite Stevie songs remembering how it was and sometimes wishing I had those feelings again of the ones who are no longer here.

She is undeniably a musical and lyrical genius.

For me, this song reminds me a lot of my continuous battle with depression, it’s always a storm, never calm. A song like this really helps though to release those feelings when their bottled so tightly.
