Do more of them. They're truly great.
As Tall As Lions was so good back in the day. Thanks for reminding me of them haha! Great react too btw.
Jesus dude. You stopped the song 5 times in the first 10 seconds. I think you just like to hear your own voice. Good luck finding subscribers.
Jinjer - Who is gonna be the one (live) please!!!
personal preference - limit your pauses and capture a bunch of thoughts in the pauses you do take - it takes away from getting into the music
The openning before they really get into it, reminds me of Massive Attack.
Any band, past or present would be proud to call this song theirs 😉
2 of my favorite Bristol bands in one tune! Then a bit of hot chip thrown in at the end
Nice to see you put into words exactly how I felt the first time I heard this idles song , I recommend you trying out a band called King Kong company 👌
This is an album opener and the storm is the next song. Incredible song, album and band.
I like "another year" from them The Brain dance (live without orleans)
Turtle neck and jeans ? He looks like The Rock from the 90's
Totally.
Car crash from this show is awesome
subbed immediately at 13:21, cried a bit at 14:39 (idk why). Looking forward to coming reactions
Thanks so much. This one hit pretty hard for me.
Saw them live in Gävle, Sweden back in 2019 togheter with TesseracT, Jinjer and Freak Kitchen! Awesome show, I'm totally in to Progressive Heavy Metal since 2000.
Very good first reaction, great job.I look forward to more in the future Plini and Animals as leaders would be my requests. Thanks for the entertainment.
A friend of mine had played "Mother" by IDLES, and I liked that song, but it wasn't until IDLES' From the Basement set randomly popped up in my recommendations and I checked it out that I fell in love. This whole set is amazing.
I get strong Portishead and Massive Attack vibes from this
Dude where are you? Hope everything is good! Need more reactions to the rest of the Idles from the Basement tracks, especially 'the wheel' and 'beachland ballroom'
I’m back soon! Thanks!
@@NormalGuyReacts Good to know you're still out there!
Love your channel! Anesthetize live from Tilburg - Porcupine Tree is an eye opening experience.
Just came back to this reaction and a couple things I noticed that I didn't catch before: 1) New section to new section to new section and just goes from one thing to the next (Polyphia) - LOL....that's exactly how I feel. I feel like Polyphia plays complicated parts just to play a complicated part where AAL is a little more melodic with better song structure. 2) There are a few songs where both guitarists vamp on a part where the drummer just goes off live. "Wave of Babies", "Physical Education", "Inner Assasins" and "Ectogenesis" are the immediate ones that come to mind. And he's always experimenting so every solo is different. You can watch him play a song 10 different times and get 10 different solos. Check out a vid titled "Matt Garstka Beast Medley 2018". That's clips from a drum cam of some of those songs.
Your reaction to being upset that you weren't there hits me so hard and I WAS THERE. One of the best shows I've been to. Especially seeing them follow such a mighty band like Gojira. Such an amazing experience. I wish I could relive it. I've rewatched the video a many of times and I suggest you eventually watch the full thing!
Love this song deeply....love your reaction towards it....will be catching up on more stuff u got peace
Digging the content but dang the gate on your mic signal is whack, it's quite distracting :-) Thought it was worth mentioning
Working on that. Sorry about it.
When it comes to lyrics they are concept albums. You have to take the whole album story in to account
Oh such a shame you did the red rocks one. Everyone always reacts to that and to be honest his growls aren't that good there compare to say the roundhouse tapes recordings
go for Viagra boys, you will love it
Song is nice, idea is creative but guitar players totally suck
you should check out Amenabar by Spinetta Jade. great band from buenos aires argentina
This whole set from the basement by IDLES was absolutely AMAZING. The song Meds from this show was my fav
Car Crash for me, but it’s an epic set 😉
Matt Gartska is amazing as you say in this performance, and that's back when he was basically a kid. In recent years the dude's evolved into some sort of percussion guru, creating mind-blowing parts.
You're spot on with the soul aspect of the prog metal scene and how AAS brings it. They're so special because of how much groove and hook they mix in to this insanely complicated shit.
Barf 🤮
Do pattern-seeking animals 😀
Yup. They are amazing. But you need to put stuff on your wall's. The ecco sounds like a tomb, toilet or a hospital.
I’ve fixed that. Sorry about that.
@@NormalGuyReacts Cool. 👍 I have just seen so many videoes were people dont do that. 🙂 I know it is an American thing not to have much on the wall's. But once you notice this, you will get annoyed by ecco'ing sound. 😉
Right after the performance, Tosin introduced the latest iPhone.
And there’s one more thing… 😂
MTT 420 RR is a motorbike. The songs about a car crash the singer had
Well I was way off. Haha.
To clarify the song is about an accident Joe *almost* had while high and he almost hit a bike. According to him The song is a metaphor for how lucky he is to still be alive after years of substance abuse. The entire Crawler album is about Joe’s 15 year fight with substance abuse
Got it. Makes a lot of sense. I have this album queued up to listen to on a long ride home in a few days. Can’t wait. Thanks for the knowledge.
a Rolls Royce gas turbine helicopter engine with a top speed of 273mph none the less.
I subbed just because you tried Idles. Do it again. Since you prefer live, do Beechland Ballroom or Never Fight A Man With A Perm live from Philly. WAR is a great one. Danny Nedelko, Heel/Heal, Lover…tons and tons of classics on all of their albums.
I’m on the train. I’m going to check out more!
The same session, The Beachland Ballroom is one of the most incredible live performances I have ever seen. Watch it at least once a week!
Maybe that shall be my next!
The way he screams "damage, damage, damage" in that song is so therapeutic. I scream it with him.
I'm awfully late to the party and discussion. Regardinmg the lyrics: It's criticism of russian attitude and worldview.
Jinjer is of course a Metal band (from Ukraine), but they don’t consider themselves one, and love experimenting with incorporating different genres. The emeralds are fish scales. I believe this was filmed to let Vlad the drummer show his skills as he’d just joined the band. He’s a classically trained pianist, guitar player and drummer. I think this will always be the best introduction for newbies to the band. It shows off the incredible talent of all the band members! Remember she’s using her false folds to growl. NO VOCAL CHORDS INVOLVED. The only vocal effects are when Tatiana’s singing, not when she’s growling. Here’s Jinjer performing Pisces live on stage… ua-cam.com/video/1MRo101qQWQ/v-deo.html …and Jinjer performing Pisces this year live on stage!!! ua-cam.com/video/B8LbS7bDV1Q/v-deo.html For another great studio recording try this one, with some Reggae - “Judgement and Punishment”… ua-cam.com/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/v-deo.html …and the official video… ua-cam.com/video/zt3hEznbuuM/v-deo.html Tati singing and playing Cielito Lindo!!! ua-cam.com/video/ALCcejCG_KI/v-deo.html Jinjer doing some Jazz!!!! ua-cam.com/video/ON5F9sb6ZQ0/v-deo.html Here’s Tatiana talking about her singing… ua-cam.com/video/UBrqWYMBm60/v-deo.html I love this little chat with Tatiana… ua-cam.com/video/oSzEOvQjGxA/v-deo.html Tatiana singing in 2011!!!! ua-cam.com/video/y3WJc1RCO8M/v-deo.html A great interview with the band in 2021… ua-cam.com/video/syJTZL_VUBo/v-deo.html UA-camr Charismatic Voice interviews Tati… ua-cam.com/video/FqkcKvuBqpg/v-deo.html
I think it's great that Opeth reminds you of the old great bands, to me it just sounds like it's easier for you to enjoy it even more. nothing to feel bad about, I think. Oh, and it's not just you...
Thanks! I can’t help but hear the shit I love.
@@NormalGuyReacts Well, rock on!
Radiohead - in rainbows from the basement
Absolutely. One of my favorite things ever.
I sometimes have to just laugh at some of Matt's fills because they seem inhuman. Definitely watch more of their live stuff to see his craziness! He also posts a lot of stuff on his own channel. Different concepts he's working on, play alongs to loops trying different things. This performance was from a few years ago and he definitely had more "piss and vinegar" in him. He's a little more reserved and refined now and I feel his playing has a little more finesse on the last album compared to before.
It's also cool to watch Tosin's guitar clinics where he explains some of his techniques.
Awesome to know he has his own channel. I'm going to go check that out. Thanks for the info!
@@NormalGuyReacts He also has breakdowns of a couple of the songs from the last album talking about how they came up with the song and how he came up with the parts. Real interesting dude to listen to.
matt destroys the fucking drums haha, nice video!!
Indeed he does. Thanks!
OM-Live at Amoeba
This "From The Basement" vid was also my introduction to these guys. Incredibly powerful, happy you felt quite similar about it.
Thanks so much. I watch the rest of it, and I have to say my mind was goddamn blown. I’m really impressed by these guys. Seams are doing something that’s really original.
Can't wait till you listen to Porcupine Tree Anesthetize live from Tilburg ;)
Definitely on the list. I know nothing about them.
cool reaction vid dude
Thanks!
Please, don't stop all the time... learn to listen to the whole song
You just want to watch someone listen to a song without saying anything about it? That’s not something I’m interested in, sorry man.
@@NormalGuyReacts No, seriously. You stop A LOT.
@@NormalGuyReactsit’s your channel. If ppl don’t like just leave. Big ups man I love the input in everything
