We just came back from Barcelona and Madrid and while we loved both, we definitely want to return to Madrid. Together our Spanish is barely passing but we were able to get along pretty well. We stayed a bit outside the center of Barcelona near Gracia. We took the metro 3 stops to Plaza Catalunya to do our sightseeing but enjoyed eating at the bar/restaurant around the corner from our apartment the most. In Madrid, we stayed in La Latina and loved it. Love the tapas culture and the architecture. It felt like the Village in NYC back in the day but with a Spanish vibe. We both agreed it just felt right.

Barney is a real one that is a good man ! It's awesome when ppl are proud of their culture country the neighborhood they grew up and live in ! Unfortunately in the States a lot of immigrants get a bad reputation because a lot of the countries empty the jails and they come to America! My whole family are immigrants from Mexico! I hope Barney blows up becomes uber successful and give back to his community

It's so expensive there, you had to stay at least 10 miles from city center to find affordable accommodations. Anyways, do you still stand by your first impression of Barcelona (unclean and overrated ) after spending 2 weeks there?

I was just there 2 days ago went from Madrid to Barcelona and so happy this didn’t happen to me. I wasn’t impressed with Madrid I’ll take Barcelona over Madrid any day .

David, great video. Puerta de Sol plaza had been under construction for many years and is very different from when you first visited Spain. The Tio Pepe sign used to be on top of where the Apple Store is. When Apple bought the real estate, the sign had to come down. There was such a stink about that that somehow they negotiated to have the sign relocated to another building in the plaza. Madrid is way better than Barcelona if you're looking for a very welcoming friendly vibe without a ridiculous amount of tourists. Did you have a chance to see Toledo or Segovia?
