When I started diving into the EU later on, I finally realized who he was after all that time!! Hahahahaha!!! Thankfully, I've still got him, and in recent years, I've made a little diorama for him to pose in, and he looks really cool!!!

If the EU represented the damn trade federation as part of the Separatist movement it's because George Lucas had approved that way and certanly fit through HIS vision for HIS franchise! Besides, this was states even before, on the Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation created the schysm on the Republic, who culminated on the Separatist movement's formation! The deal scene on Attack of the Clones was basically the Separatist movement being created as an separeted, but equally powerful, entity to the Republic! That was on the movies, Filoni! Come on! And why the hell the Trade Federation would possible deal with the Republic after what they've did on Naboo??? The Trade Federation, negotiating arms with the Republic who they've own attacked, and think this is somehow the right way to show the audience an less "black and white" story, is beyond nonsensical!

Any EU fan who uses legends is suspect. Or alleged EU fan. I know some fans wanted to reclaim it from Disney. I personally see as an insult. Disney Thrawn takes the cake, he pisses me off. His very existence is an insult to fans, who were collecting the novels for decades before the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm. And Zahn who didn't like how Del Rey handled Mara, working for Disney for a paycheck, why Tim, why. Shaking my head. I haven't read the Zahn Disney novels and never going to pollute my vision of Luke and Mara and its pureness.

I like to compare George Lucas and the EU to Eru Iluvatar and the Dwarves. The dwarves were not Iluvatar’s plans for Arda, but he accepted them, and not only did they end up coexisting with the children of Iluvatar (Men and Elves, but they played an important role shaping the history of Arda.

Dave Filoni... he was Disney Star Wars before Disney Star Wars. He is the Anakin Skywalker of LucasFilm. Only... I highly doubt he'll ever have a redemption arc.

My favorite aspect of Starwars was the criminal underworld (Pirates, Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, Crime Syndicates, etc.). Dave Filoni completely ruined it by over simplifying the underworld and having Maul take it all over. I find it to be a blessing in disguise that Filoni completely ignored Nym’s existence, he would’ve butchered that character and the Lok Revenants as well.

Filoni fans are not Star Wars fans. Simple as that. They cheered like crazy for constsnt continuity-breakings. Theycare actually worse than the Reylos.

Filoni had the Mon Calamari completely ripped off from the 2003 Clone Wars microseries. The Battle of Umbara was an inferior version to the Battle of Jabiim, and Maul's resurrection was completely retconed, as it was stated in EU sources that he died in TPM. Sure, Star Wars Tales brought him back with robotic legs, but that story was never canon to begin with

Bringing Maul back simply doesn't work mainly because it had well been known for a long time that he was dead and the the fact that not just Filoni but also the writers read at least some republic issues and choose to ignore them is just insulating and it just reminds me so much of what 343 have done with halo

You know what's the weirdest thing about the Mortis Arc? The fact none of it is ever mentoined again. At least I think it's not, correct me if I'm wrong. I mean, I know they appear on a mural in Rebels, but I mean that Ahsoka, Anakin and Obi-Wan never speak of these events again. With how out there it is, you'd think it would come up in conversation quite often, and for proof of that, look no further than how often the fandom brings up that arc.

As a kinda-series creator myself, I don't really see your problem with the "I wanted"-statements, and can confirm that I have made a lot of these myself when discussing how I edit my comic dubs. Of course Dave's gonna want scenes done a certain way and convey his vision to the team, that's just doing his job as a director. I guess I would understand more if the "i wanted" statements were contradicting established lore, but most of them just seem to be about how a scene looks.

Oh man, you're re-opening an old wound here sir. I've been trying to understand this damn mess since 2009, back when i thought star wars with the EU just peaked . In the end (aside from Filoni and Lucas fault) i realized that this is THE biggest tv project ever involving star wars and by default it was meant to surpass the CWMMP, not by quality (of course it couldn't beat the effort and the variety of so many other authors) but by public usability. In the end the big masses prefer to experience passive media like tv, without reading a book, comic or playing a game. Star wars could reach some incredible heights(like the Clone Wars EU) but, neither the general public or the creator himself, really care or even appreciate them. They just want to keep their movies, everything else is just a way to get money and for the majority of fans it's just some useless stuff.

Filoni is a moron. He got away with it simply because his fans are dumber.
