I never once before considered grasses and magick going together, and I certainly wasn't expecting to learn so much about them, either! You have such beautiful grasses natively in England, I had no idea! It actually inspires me to learn more about my own local grasses here in Minnesota.

Hello from US, question, I have spent hrs on the internet searching for books on Irish folk magic, I can't really seem to find what Im looking for, I'm looking for a book that may have Celtic charms, spells ritual herbs oils and so on, the ways of living, every book I have checked out on the internet allllll seems to have the same, so what would you recommend? Thank you, I'm looking to start a tradition for myself if that helps

Smudge is actually the English word. In Lakota, the act of smudging is called Azilya. Different tribes call it different terms in their languages. The act of cultural appropriation isn't by using the word but in performing the practice as prescribed in a tradition without proper training or connection to that culture.

My house used to smudge with Sage and Palo Santo, but I’m barely learning these things this year. I’m in NM. I recently bought a walking stick (the last one, at a discount) from a tobacco shop where I used to buy my glass chillums from. I took it home and learned that the wood is from an appalachian tree called Sassafras. Now Sassafras is a medicinal plant. It has many uses, but they are invariably to do with cleansing. So you bet that whenever I need bad energy to be purged from me or my house, I look at my cane and I remember what it’s made from, and that’s good enough for me. Burning it is the last thing I would do. iykyk.

I made a beautiful hand made book of shadows is 2020 , it’s leather bound , I used cannabis stems to create the pentagram under the leather to make a 3d pentagram and I put seeds inside it, on the back I put the eye of Horus in gold flakes and I put coins along the side and I put ribbon bound into it to mark the pages. It’s cost 400$ to make . So needless to say I’ve been afraid to write in it and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to put in it, but now that I watched this video I’m going to put my practices into it and information that I value. and I’m so excited and inspired! Thank you!!!!

Definitely looks like an interesting read. I think it's a privelage to know from whom and where one hails from. I do kind of envy traditional European witches who know their history and have a homehome in their practice. I was born in a former British colony in the Caribbean but grew up in the states. I've thought about doing an ancestry test to figure that out since I've never been exposed to my ancestors' culture. The country I'm from has been heavily influenced by the British so I've always been more inclined toward traditional British witchcraft. I've been told that I should stick with the deities of my own culture by European folk but they don't realize that the slave trade has left a lot of people of color wondering where they truly belong. I had recently watched a rune video by a person of color and a commenter told her that Norse gods were not part of her culture so she shouldn't bother with them. But one of the gods she mentioned was a god of all mankind. It was really disheartening to see that many people only think of their fellow Europeans when they imagine mankind. It's as if that God wouldn't want anything to do with people of color or that black people weren't people at all. It's a pretty significant issue in the pagan community that isn't discussed much.
