I have for a long time wanted a the famed Ray Mears Woodlore, but been put off by the price. While looking around the various knife sites and forums, one name kept coming up 'Mark Hill' or also know as 'Hill Bill' on Bushcraft UK forum.
So I kept on reading and looking until, a chance meeting with Sonni owner of Beneath the Stars leatherworks, when I was at the 2016 Bush Craft Show, which allowed me to get my hands on a modified PNK blade blank. Video can been seen here ua-cam.com/video/5MFkq2rle1U/v-deo.html
After placing my own handle scales on the knife, I was so impressed with the design and skill of the blade that I was inspired to contact Mark Hill diectly. The result was an order for Mark's own design, the SPB2, with an extended handle to suit my needs. I ordered the blade as a blank to again make my own handle.
The finished knife, in my view is the perfect hybrid between a Ray Mears Woodlore and Bark River Aurora, with handle shaping inspired by the Benchmade 162 bushcrafter.
This is my dream knife and handles very, very well. I highly recommend that you look at Mark Hill's facebook page and give him a message if you are interested in his work.
