Do Space Heaters dry the air? (Absolute vs Relative Humidity)
Yes, space heaters dry the air in your room. The reason is that the relative humidity of your room decreases with increasing air temperature.
Even though, the absolute amount of water in the air even increases because of evaporation from bodies, furniture or plants.

How Many Candles do you need to Heat a Room? (Methods & Safety)
Переглядів 27 тис.2 роки тому
You need 18 candles to heat a room and match the heat a regular heater (oil, gas, space heater) outputs. Each candle outputs about 80W of heating power. A regular heater produces about 1500W of power. 18 candles would output 1440W of power. Instead of heating with candles, a much safer and (in the long run) cheaper way to heat is using space heaters. My space heater is making a high pitched sound like a high pitched hum .. it does stop once you get to the desired temp, but it never did that in the past. should I bin it? Thanks so much!!
I pay 0.068 per kw. Or $595/yr. I live in a basement suite. I never turn it off and let access heat convectionally bleed into the rest of the house upstairs. - Alberta
I live in an old house with alot of draft (Alberta). My heating system is old as well. I keep a space heater on in my game room 24/7 which is in the basement. Once the room meets equilibrium the access heat bleeds into the rest of the house. I pay $0.068 per kilowatt. So it's only $50/mo for a cozy basement and heated floors. All this heat eventually leaves the house so of you plan to use one to heat the home. Put it in a basement room and close the door. I used this same technique when I was mining the cryptos.
can you comment on the toxic chemicals ie teflon / fire retardants, etc. in other space heaters. Dyson does not have those chemicals which can kill pet birds.

So I have a 8000 BTU portable air conditioner that I want to use an extension cord and the extension cords that I have here at home I use outside and they both are labeled on the cord as 16 AWG. Can I use one of those to run my portable air conditioner.??
Nope...don't take any chances. Get a 14 or 12 awg

Thinking about upgrading to those big industrial fans that you see at Homedepot or Lowes.
I wanted to put an ac in my window but the cord isnt long enough to reach an outlet. So one of these extension cord you mention should be good to use?
Go to your favorite nearby store for fans but online and look at high velocity fans or look at the highest cfm you can find in the specifications, then at night blow it at a feet away from a window that is pointing the same side your room window is and also open that window. For maximal efficiency, close the other windows in the house

I guess this video was not done with people in South East Florida in mind. My A/C died on me today(of course on a Saturday morning, I rent) There is no cooler air at night as temps stay like a sauna in late July. This has happened enough times to me and is so dreaded as I sit and roast i sweltering temps inside my Apt on second floor with windows closed and curtians drawn. Last time my A/C went kaputz it was also on a Friday and I spent the entire week-end roasting. A/C guys finally were sent out by my landlord and they came into my Apt and were soaking wet in sweat as they were trying to repiar and eventaully replace my unit. This time I will try to go stay with a friend as there is no telling how long it will be before my A/C gets replaced. I hate A/C breakdowns, total disruption of life when you live in hot states .
You need to open a window to get rid of the hot air. Heat rises. In the mountains many people have whole house fans that do exactly this. Hang a wet towel by the fan and see the difference.
Thanks for this information.@@terretulsiak
Thank you for your wisdom. I used to be trapped in my room with all the heat because they say to close every window and curtains to keep heat out. But you opened my eyes that to do the oppposite..you have deffinantly helped me. Thank you again for taking the time to make this video and help people understand the physics of heat. May God bless you for helping people deal with this uncomfortable heat. You are my hero!
Here’s the trick for non AC people open the windows and keep them open all day run the fans air movement is important the fans will blow the hot air out the windows and you can get a humidity gauge to read the moisture in the air. 30% to 50% within there is perfect.
4 hours a day yeah that’s not happening for me I’m in Florida in a mobile home plus I have to sleep during the day for my job it’s more like 8 hours a day.
Foe years I install a fan in the attic steps to blow the hot air into the attic. I then open the window in the first floor to allow cool air into the house to replace the hot air. It works best at night with the cooler night temperatures.
That's what I do.
You are actually sucking the air into the attic. Heat rises with help, make sure there is a way for it to escape upstairs.
@@terretulsiak it doesn't need help though...
The fan only cools you, not the room. If the fan doesn’t blow on you it does nothing except maybe ventilation.. Great video!
You dont have hot layers around you you sweat and the fan blows air onto you making the sweat cold cooling you down
So very true, well said.
It's LOUD!
I am gonna die this summerwithout ac
I live in a trailer and I've tried everything i could think of to cool my home but fans seems not to work I've tried blowing the hot air out the window and my trailer still stayed hot i even tried having two fans going one facing out the window and the other one blowing throughout the home and still didn't work, is there anything other advice that might work as i have a tin roof so its extremely hard to find a working method.
it depends on your location really. If its a HUMID hot and there is moisture in the air, a decent sized dehumidifier or two would do wonders. You can vent the heat out of windows. When I stayed in a hot apartment, i used one dehumidifier to cool the room i was in, then moved it to the bedroom before i started getting ready for bed. Dry heat , use a swamp cooler.
你可以先嘗試把濕布把在車頂上!如果可以降低溫度的話,就可以嘗試做一個不斷滴水的系統! 這方法即使在濕熱的香港也可以用。
Summary of the video: You can't cool down (under outside temp) a room without an ac. Get a fan to blow the hot air off of you. My guy is yapping for 6 min straight about nothing
Loooooooooong story short: turn it on!!!
the space heater i have makes a slightly lower "wowowow" or "erererer" noise sometimes, but i assume this is due to resonance somewhere, because when i move it abit it stops
Right, there's probably a vibration feedback loop. Nothing to worry about, especially since it stops if you move it
for the clicky example, i have a bit of a weird setup where i have the space heater set on max connected to a smart outlet (i could use relays directly but i feel much safer working with 5v than 240v :D). i have a microcontroller running as a temperature sensor and a PID controller, which sends instructions to the smart outlet, so i get multiple types of clicks now from both thermostats doing things :)
The problem is that they use the same term on Amazon, "portable air conditioner", both for actual AC units that vent the heated air through a window using an exhaust hose, and for crappy little pieces of junk that don't vent the heated air outdoors at all. My (real) portable AC from Black and Decker does work; it cools my living room from by about degrees, so is a life saver and I'm grateful to have it. I also own a little "ice chest with a fan" which blows cold air on my as the ice melts... it does keep me more comfortable... but the effect is purely local; the room temperature does not change at all. If it's really hot outside (100 or 110 degrees), I use both. The Black and Decker unit can cool the room to 95 degrees; then the little ice chest with a fan from Etsy can blow on me for additional cooling. (My freezer, which freezes the ice in the ice chest, is in a separate building, so using it doesn't warm up my house.)
The way I survive is I take a hand towel (unfolded about the size of your back) and I saturate it in cold water and hang it around my neck. When it gets warm I rinse it in more cold water. When I go to bed I mist my hair with water, and I put a cold towel on my back while the fan blows at my head. It cools my core temperature down enough to let me fall asleep.
I've heard of that but isn't that how you get hypothermia? I've wanted to try this but never did cause I was worried about that
You will never get hypothermia in extremely hot weather. The cold towels purpose is to lower your body temperature from dangerously high temperatures back down to something more normal.
Thers a better way --> towel, soak in water, wring dry. Then put in freezer. And wrap that around your neck or chest before you go to sleep with ah a fan blowing at you. You will freeze.
So would i need a 20 amp to hook up to my generator?
Yes, ideally. If you use a generator to generate electricity to power your heater, consider getting a diesel heater instead. Takes the conversion step out of the equation.
What if you blow a ton of cold mist into a warm room
blow the heat out by the window
Bro is talking all around the topic, but not key points... Dont recommend watching. Waste of time
