I have this idea which I haven't seen anyone implement yet, not on youtube at least. It's to use 2 radiators, a larger one and a smaller one. The larger stays outdoors where in front of it is placed a wet rug (or any thick porous material). A separate small pump is used to continously pump water over the material so that it stays damp. Then a fan pulls air thru that material and the radiator, thus increasing the cooling of the water that's running thru the radiator. On the other side, in the room the smaller radiator (which is connected thru piping to the bigger radiator+evaporative cooling unit outside) uses another fan to blow air which would be cooler. The heat in the room would be absorbed by the radiator into the water, where it's being cooled in the outdoor radiator, where the heat is removed into the outside air. I'm not sure how efficient or how much it could help cool a room & if the money & effort spent to build such a contraption would be worth it, tho I'm sure theoretically it should definitely help cool at a lower cost than running an air conditioner. I cannot afford to build it at the moment, would be cool if someone could try this idea. If & when I build it, I'll definitely be making a video about it.

This was super easy to set up and hang up. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxclitHMewQyK8ao1RdWQ7Bt5ZZcLG0bWH Fairly quite considering it’s a fan. The versatility is great for me. It gets really warm in my bathroom and this keeps me cool while I’m getting ready in the mornings. When I need it to blow in a different direction I have no problems moving it around. Highly recommended!
Keep a building cool by shading the walls, insulating the roof and shading it....this stops the heat from getting in. Once the heat is in it is too late and AC is needed to remove it. Heat can not be destroyed only moved. P.s. I am in Australia where it is bloody hot
Here’s the trick for non AC people open the windows and keep them open all day run the fans air movement is important the fans will blow the hot air out the windows and you can get a humidity gauge to read the moisture in the air. 30% to 50% within there is perfect.

Question: I am in a very, very (unbearably) hot, old, concrete apartment. I face southwest, have 2 rooms, a window in each, both facing the same way (ie no cross-ventilation). Even in the winter in Canada, I cannot cool my bedroom below 75 degrees. In the summer, with a portable AC, it's still hotter. I don't know where to put a fan to blow the air outside as you suggest - my portable AC in my bedroom blocks the window opening. The only option is the window in the living room, which faces the same direction. Where would you put the fan? From you video it seems that the living room is the best option, so that air from the bedroom gets pulled out? (I realize I can experiment but I thought you may have a suggestion!) Thanks so much for this video!
As long as there are two windows in an apartment, putting a fan in front of one of them will force air in through the other, even if they are facing the same direction. Unfortunately, that means you will have to remove your portable AC in order for this effect to happen. For your situation, it's up to you to decide how effective your AC is compared to a fan at cooling your apartment down and choose which needs to go. I'm sorry for your situation with your hot home. You can blame poorly planned architecture for that. Good luck.
I live in the deep South US - growing up very few had air conditioning that was in the 50s and 60s for me - I'm 68 now and use little to no air-conditioning even when it's 100° to 105°F daily like it was last summer - My dad was born in 1912 and only 20% could afford electricity down here - Most slept on the porch during summer in the deep South US before they had electric fans - I live in the rural deep south of the US - for those who had electricity from about 1900 they had what was termed a farm home light plant in rural America - It consisted of 16 large two volt cells - and a 32 volt generator to charge the battery bank all day once a week - The battery's lasted 40 to 50 yrs the acid strength was 1.220 so they don't sulphate and the plates don't swell and rot like when an acid strength is 1.275 with lead acid batterys so they last much longer - You can look up farm light plants in the US on the net - there is a lot of information from the 1920s and 30s on the subject - In rural towns there were entire lines of appliances sold that were 32 volts DC instead of 110 or 220 AC as used in city's - Down here ceiling fans and window fans were a high priority also refrigerator and freezers -- in the city's and in rural homes - Those fans made back then had what we in the electrical field call X or U frame motors - there expected life of service is 300 yrs. - they also use quite a bit less power than modern fan motors in most cases - To live were I live at and not be uncomfortable when your in your home - you do have to have an understanding of ventilation and moving the air around in a home - I use the old type fans one was made. In 1913 I think - I use ceiling old ceiling fans and window fans during summer - the ones I have today are all 110 or115 volts but have polyphase motors - Most of the Chinese fans sold here now use R frame shaded pole motors - they burn far more power than my old fans do and often burn up each summer if there not used in an air-conditioned home - My grandfather was a early 1900s mechanic/generator man - I'm 3rd generation and worked on generators, & solidstate motor drives in the offshore and remote mountain oilfields - In the end we had to understand ventilation and kw's burned to move volumes of air among many other things - we were. Know as SCR electricians or systems techs -
Just got into a small room with ceiling fan and no window, only dusty exhaust fan on top corner of the wall, any suggestion ? will floor fan actually do something ? the ceiling fan constantly blowing heated air to my skin, its not comfortable to sleep as well as its get hot... Any suggestion from someone who overcome these problem ?
You are a good SYSTEM student ! This is why I did not do any MAsters .. and also feel sorry for doing my Bachelor! Sorry about you, but there is another way out.. Bring cool air inside your room ! it will cool the hot air! The cool air can be brought from cold water... and yeah.. you are holding a device that can do just that. Enough said. Good luck figuring out the rest.
I legitimately feel more educated after watching this. So it is helpful to point the fan at the window and not towards the inside of the room, correct?
I guess this video was not done with people in South East Florida in mind. My A/C died on me today(of course on a Saturday morning, I rent) There is no cooler air at night as temps stay like a sauna in late July. This has happened enough times to me and is so dreaded as I sit and roast i sweltering temps inside my Apt on second floor with windows closed and curtians drawn. Last time my A/C went kaputz it was also on a Friday and I spent the entire week-end roasting. A/C guys finally were sent out by my landlord and they came into my Apt and were soaking wet in sweat as they were trying to repiar and eventaully replace my unit. This time I will try to go stay with a friend as there is no telling how long it will be before my A/C gets replaced. I hate A/C breakdowns, total disruption of life when you live in hot states .
You need to open a window to get rid of the hot air. Heat rises. In the mountains many people have whole house fans that do exactly this. Hang a wet towel by the fan and see the difference.
I like to be under the covers when I sleep with the the thermostat placed 60 at cool . But my husband doesn’t like it and it’s really expensive . So would this help me I wonder
I wish I could show you the layout of my apartment that only has one fucking window. My room is the furthest point from that window and I’m unsure if fans will do the trick. Maybe I should just cry
This might be the worst suggestion ever lol. But what if you took a big fan, point it at you. And then a fan pointing out of the room to push the hot air away from you???? May be dumb lol
With your situation, it seems as if a window aircon or a window fan might be your only options if your goal is to cool your space. If you live in a dry climate, a swamp cooler is an excellent alternative to aircon. If not, then you might just have to cough up the money for air con. Good luck.
I have to say, I've spent a fair bit of time splashing my face with water and then fanning it either with a book etc, or just putting my face directly in front of the fan, this summer. How does this work? Does the water take heat away from your face as it evaporates, and because you also fan it, it evaporates the water quicker so that you cool down/feel cooler quicker? That's my guess but I don't tend to "do science" very well lol.
You are right! Water evaporates and absorbs heat. The fan blows the absorbed heat away. Therefore the temperature of the air layer on your face is lower than room temperature.
I believe water removes heat from the skin 25 times faster than air does that’s why, if you fall into a frozen lake, you have to roll in the snow to absorb the water, so you don’t go hyperthermic
@@heatertipsover here in the US they sell a gadget that is a small set of two small fans that mount in a window like a window air condition - The two fans are reversible so one fan can blow air in a room and the other can draw air out the room and blow it out side - Some have thermostats on them -
Exchange... Blowing air from indoors to outdoors means air will be drawn in from outdoors elsewhere. This is not a solution when the outdoor temperature exceedes that of the indoor. Evaporative Cooling... A fan blowing room temperature air on you causing a cooling effect is due to your body's evaporative cooling and is less effective the higher the relative humidity. Not an engineer, just grew up and live in a desert where temperatures in the summer months regularly hit triple digits.
@@NuEs365 I put it on the ground right beneath my window, pointing towards my window, so air was blowing outside. Although I'm not even sure if it was really working and if so, it might have cooled down my room by like 0.15 degrees Celsius (not calculated). So honestly just save up and get an A/C. I still have to buy one for next summer. Don't waste your money on fans of any type. And especially not on "Personal Air Conditioners" that you put water in and leave on your desk. How ever much you spend on one of those pieces of garbage, it won't work. The whole idea of a Personal Air Conditioner is a scam.

@@lesliegray3395Leslie to be comfortable if it's a bit warm or hot you generally need one fan blowing air out the window or you can use it to to draw out side air into the room - at times sucking air from out side works a lot better - To sleep if it's hot and your sweating you need a second fan circulating air in the room - I live in a hot region and rarely use AC - I use a good ceiling fan when I sleep so I don't sweat as I sleep - It's almost imposable to sleep when your sweating -
You don't understand physics, you're wrong. Putting frozen stuff in a closed room cools it down because it takes heat energy out of the air for it to melt. thus cooling down the room. The energy to melt frozen stuff comes from SOMEWHERE, right? Putting a fan in front of ice causes it to melt faster. Here's how I do it: Put ice cream tubs, milk jugs and 1.25L - 2L plastic disposable bottles in your freezer full of water instead of throwing them out. Fill up your freezer with them, it's actually more efficient to fill your freezer with stuff anyway. Then, fill the freezer to the brim as full as you can in any empty space with these liters and liters of water containers. Once frozen, take them out and put them around your room, in front of a small desktop fan on a piece of cardboard on the ground. DO NOT OPEN WINDOWS this lets outside heat in! While these are melting with the air from the fan, put more stuff in the freezer so once your bottles have melted you can swap them out with the other batch in the freezer, and repeat the process. It actually cools your room significantly.
I always stick to technical truth in my videos and blog posts. Truth may be boring, but it is never benefitless. It protects you from falling for marketing scams.

Good luck.
Very Informative. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
You're welcome, thank you for your comment!
I live in the deep South US - growing up very few had air conditioning that was in the 50s and 60s for me -
I'm 68 now and use little to no air-conditioning even when it's 100° to 105°F daily like it was last summer -
My dad was born in 1912 and only 20% could afford electricity down here -
Most slept on the porch during summer in the deep South US before they had electric fans -
I live in the rural deep south of the US - for those who had electricity from about 1900 they had what was termed a farm home light plant in rural America -
It consisted of 16 large two volt cells - and a 32 volt generator to charge the battery bank all day once a week -
The battery's lasted 40 to 50 yrs the acid strength was 1.220 so they don't sulphate and the plates don't swell and rot like when an acid strength is 1.275 with lead acid batterys so they last much longer -
You can look up farm light plants in the US on the net - there is a lot of information from the 1920s and 30s on the subject -
In rural towns there were entire lines of appliances sold that were 32 volts DC instead of 110 or 220 AC as used in city's -
Down here ceiling fans and window fans were a high priority also refrigerator and freezers -- in the city's and in rural homes -
Those fans made back then had what we in the electrical field call X or U frame motors - there expected life of service is 300 yrs. - they also use quite a bit less power than modern fan motors in most cases -
To live were I live at and not be uncomfortable when your in your home - you do have to have an understanding of ventilation and moving the air around in a home -
I use the old type fans one was made. In 1913 I think - I use ceiling old ceiling fans and window fans during summer -
the ones I have today are all 110 or115 volts but have polyphase motors -
Most of the Chinese fans sold here now use R frame shaded pole motors - they burn far more power than my old fans do and often burn up each summer if there not used in an air-conditioned home -
My grandfather was a early 1900s mechanic/generator man - I'm 3rd generation and worked on generators, & solidstate motor drives in the offshore and remote mountain oilfields -
In the end we had to understand ventilation and kw's burned to move volumes of air among many other things - we were. Know as SCR electricians or systems techs -
Thinking about upgrading to those big industrial fans that you see at Homedepot or Lowes.
Is it possible for you to keep the door open?
You are a good SYSTEM student ! This is why I did not do any MAsters .. and also feel sorry for doing my Bachelor! Sorry about you, but there is another way out.. Bring cool air inside your room ! it will cool the hot air! The cool air can be brought from cold water... and yeah.. you are holding a device that can do just that. Enough said. Good luck figuring out the rest.
I have an evaporative cooler that is a fan too
It can't work in Hong Kong 😢. I had one but it doesn't work. There is no a dry country.
I legitimately feel more educated after watching this. So it is helpful to point the fan at the window and not towards the inside of the room, correct?
basically yes :)
Just curious, how much does one cost in your country.
40-50$
Physics won't lie. Well shared, pedagogical. Dankeschoen.
Great advise.

Big fan of yours? Brilliant (:
ive got the shn beaming into my room through my blinds ands its hot what to doooo?😭😭
Get reflective blinds (the side facing the sun should have a silver-colored layer).
You could get a roll of reflectix insulation with the bubble wrap inside the silver layers and cut it slightly larger than the window so it stays put
Thanks for this information.@@terretulsiak
I like to be under the covers when I sleep with the the thermostat placed 60 at cool . But my husband doesn’t like it and it’s really expensive . So would this help me I wonder
Thank you sir, you saved me a lot of money.
Thanks for this
I wish I could show you the layout of my apartment that only has one fucking window.
Good luck.
Fantastic Video! Thank you! ❤
That's 6 minutes of my life I'll never get back 🙄
I have to say, I've spent a fair bit of time splashing my face with water and then fanning it either with a book etc, or just putting my face directly in front of the fan, this summer.
@@heatertips Hooray, I figured something out - I feel a bit more clever now - ha ha ha! Thanks for replying. 😀
That’s y they make spray bottles with tan stoopid
I believe water removes heat from the skin 25 times faster than air does that’s why, if you fall into a frozen lake, you have to roll in the snow to absorb the water, so you don’t go hyperthermic
You dont have hot layers around you you sweat and the fan blows air onto you making the sweat cold cooling you down
So very true, well said.
thanks. it really does help knowing the physics.
What if you blow a ton of cold mist into a warm room
I'm a fan of this😂
Great advice, thank you !!!!
You're welcome!
You weren’t in New York City were you? Your apartment description is spot on for some resident halls 😂
No, I am near Frankfurt / Germany. I guess New York is much worse! 😅
@@heatertipsover here in the US they sell a gadget that is a small set of two small fans that mount in a window like a window air condition -
The two fans are reversible so one fan can blow air in a room and the other can draw air out the room and blow it out side -
Some have thermostats on them -
Good video mate... keep it up.
Thanks homie
THANKS FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
Freeze copper pipe with a little air pump and a little computer fan
Thank you
I was stuck to my chair a few minutes ago but when I setup my floor fan correctly I started to cool down so that's a like from me
How did you set it up?
Did he just say that fan was Jesus!? Noice.
Thagey amaa roshi au keyfela nagoo balha
Literally chew on ice and blow a frozen rag with a fan to cool my room with a box fan on my window insulated by cardboard and spray foam.
Why did you made a video of how to cool a room down
When you’re channel is called HeaterTips! 😂
Cold is just the absence of heat. If you understand heat, you understand the cold. It's the same topic. 😄
@@heatertipsthat is a good answer lol
Loooooooooong story short: turn it on!!!
I'm in alabama. It's going be 100°F this week. My AC coils are shot. Basically, with the very little knowledge I've gained from the video, I'm screwed 😂
Take cold showers throughout the day!!
I’m in GA. My AC blew out during the storms. It is brutal 🥵
@hil4966 ooooooh nah! it was too hot today over here in Montgomery! It was 100 but it felt like 107...I got me a window AC in my room but the rest of the house is an open oven 😂
Does a floor fan need to be placed out the window with the fan blowing outside?
@@lesliegray3395Leslie to be comfortable if it's a bit warm or hot you generally need one fan blowing air out the window or you can use it to to draw out side air into the room - at times sucking air from out side works a lot better -
To sleep if it's hot and your sweating you need a second fan circulating air in the room - I live in a hot region and rarely use AC - I use a good ceiling fan when I sleep so I don't sweat as I sleep -
It's almost imposable to sleep when your sweating -
Dude needs to go back to school and visit the southern states in the US to experience real heat.
Why the hell this fan cost 245 pounds, are they insane !?
Was this a joke? Thanks man. Ww know to.turn the fan om
blow the heat out by the window
This did not really help
No tutorial
It's LOUD!
This is not true
You don't understand physics, you're wrong. Putting frozen stuff in a closed room cools it down because it takes heat energy out of the air for it to melt. thus cooling down the room. The energy to melt frozen stuff comes from SOMEWHERE, right? Putting a fan in front of ice causes it to melt faster. Here's how I do it:
Put ice cream tubs, milk jugs and 1.25L - 2L plastic disposable bottles in your freezer full of water instead of throwing them out.
Idiot, he never mentioned anything about ice or frozen stuff.
Will this work well for high humid rooms?
Bro is talking all around the topic, but not key points...
Dont recommend watching. Waste of time
They are too noisy
Bro what??
I am gonna die this summerwithout ac
I can't believe i watched this to the end. Total bs ! Well not bs but benefitless.
I always stick to technical truth in my videos and blog posts. Truth may be boring, but it is never benefitless. It protects you from falling for marketing scams.
why if i hear how people speak english i directly know which their original countries are? I guess he is GERMAN
Your guess is correct!
Summary of the video:
You can't cool down (under outside temp) a room without an ac. Get a fan to blow the hot air off of you.
My guy is yapping for 6 min straight about nothing
Fan fairy
Tiny hot prison...
Look up windcathers :D
Yappin to much just get to the point
So is it better to have the fan looking at the window?
I've seen experiments where the fan looking out the window proved more effective.
But I'd say try both ways and do whatever you think works better for your room.
