@@82danielrider Awesome! Thank you!
I've been watching car and truck rescues and restorations on UA-cam for years and I can honestly say I've never seen so much rat poop and crud in a vehicle ever. I kept thinking you were going to get the Black Plague or Valley Fever with all that rodent fecal matter.
@happykt Agreed! It's up there with the worst of them!
Back when the cars/trucks were meant to be disassembled/cleaned and restored. Not they are just holding by clips, glue and be hopeful that they fall apart or in need of repairs!

How difficult was it to take the dash apart mine has a plugged up heater core I haven’t really dug that deep into it yet by the way the truck looks awesome

Question what chemical was best to take out the smell of Mice or Rats that you used? Thanks....
I made a crazy concoction. I think I used bleach, dawn dish soap, vinegar and hot water. It was intense.
Nicely done. Just picked up a 1990 4WD Xtra cab with a 22RE and doing a similar "bring it back"!

@@0hypershock Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It looks great! Did you use any kind of enamel at the end of clear coat or enamel at the end? And how did you paint the inside parts of the door?
@hunteroandrews I never got around to clear coating it after, but I was going to use the 2x clear. Since the door jams were the same color, I left them alone because they looked good. Thanks!
It’s worth it. A new UTV is upwards of 20k. I done the same thing and have less than 5k in a nice hunting rig with A/C and Heat! You can make more for that truck than what you have in it. That truck will go 8500 to 10k easy.
@@DavidTurman-r8p Facts! And it's more unique than a UTV.
3:36 Did you really leave that old carpet in the truck? I've bought a few old trucks like this in my lifetime, and the most satisfying thing on earth is to rip out a 30yo carpet, sand down and spray bedliner paint on the floor and go bare metal with a thick removable floor mat you can wash. The smell of the truck completely changes when you remove 30 years of spilled coffees.
@12vLife It was just a quick and dirty little clean-up. I agree. Swapping the carpet would have been the move.
Clever mechanic
Beautiful Job!
@@tomandzack Thank you!
Where did you purchase the interior parts?
@@chevyracer666 I believe most of them were from rockauto.
My absolute dream truck growing up was an 85 yota. If I could find one that’s not outrageously priced I’d buy it today!
@lew-e They are awesome. I have a few, but they are definitely pricey. I think the cheaper way to go would be to purchase a less desirable model and build it to the spec of your liking. Thanks for the comment.
@ I wanted an 85 because our neighbor on base had a base model tan one with a manual transmission and I helped him work on it whenever I got a chance. I’d go for anything around that year. Then build it into whatever I’d like. I remember in high school looking at them and I could find them with some rust but not ruined for under 1,000$ all the time. Last I checked they were closer to 10,000$!
@lew-e That's awesome! Yes, the prices are getting out of hand, and they are getting harder to find. I think the cheaper ones are the 86-88' carb'd single cabs.
Amazing restoration! Also a testament to Toyota’s quality even after being forgotten it shines up like a new penny!
@mchevownr Thank you! Defitely like a new penny haha.
Currently doing a rebuild on an 85, full restoration from the frame up and this is a great video, thanks much. If you ever need a tool girl, I'll bring the beer, country music & good vibes. lol. Could use some questions answered on mine!
@OGwrench That's awesome! Good luck on the build! I have a couple 85's I have to dig into and restore as well. If you have questions regarding your build or need any parts, you can always contact me on Instagram. I'd be happy to help.
You saved me 100s!!!
@@norastackhouse Awesome! Good luck!
No matter what car I’ve torn the dash apart, that steel brace under the dash is always rusty! 😂😂
Agreed!
I just wanna know what the blue solution is!
It is just warm water with a bit of dawn dish soap. Then you load it up in a foam blaster of your choice, hook it to a pressure washer, and you get the most satisfying tool ever.
The last year to have is the 1985. Fuel injection and last year for straight axle. Drove mine through the Rubicon several times without a single problem. Never had to realign the front end it was bullet proof.
Agreed! I have 3 of them i'm working on right now. They are bullet proof. Thanks for the comment.
Great job! What did you use to clean the chrome wheels?
Thank you. I believe I used a nylon wire brush with warm water and a bit of dawn dish soap.
