Stranda Snowboards
Sweden
Приєднався 3 лис 2015
Stranda Snowboards is all about the passion for “signing the hill”. Digging trenches in the groomers or laying down lines in waist deep powder. Stranda Snowboards was founded by Swedish snowboarder Mats Drougge. With more than a decade of designing snowboards, he set out to build the best boards possible and never compromise on edgehold, materials or performance. Combining the highest quality with old school craftsmanship. The goal is to build snowboards for surf style. A snowboard for laying down clean lines regardless of conditions.
Low Tide in Milkland - surfy snowboard carving
Stranda shaper Mats Drougge has been riding sideways since the mid-70s. Skateboarding since before the ollie was invented. Very few have seen him catch more than micro airs. Turning is what he does. Yes, you can call him a traditionalist surf-style carver, and he would be proud. In this short film, he charges through the afternoon debris on his fat fish, The Makrill. It was low tide at the Tiehack surf break in Milkland, Aspen-choppy waters - and as we all know, sometimes less-than-perfect conditions make it more interesting. Shot by Matthew Pew during a couple of runs in February 2024.

Lars Horstmann and Malcolm Moore - surfing the mountain. Turning. Carving and digging trenches. What more is there to say? Oh yeah, they are both riding Stranda Biru's. Probably one of the best designed boards ever. #snowboardcarving #strandasnowboards #thebiru

I started with a blank canvas two years ago wanting to create the most surefooted carving snowboard imaginable without compromising on tweakbility and surf feeling. Last week we got the first production boards in stock and I'm super stoked to show it for you. I think the topsheet design is absolutey gorgeous! And the ride is from all the prototyping on par with the looks. Check it out! /Mats Dr...

Stranda founder Mats Drougge doing surfy and soulful turns on his new longboard shape. The 185 Pipeliner. Don't be fooled by the length as it's turns like a much smaller board but has the support of massive 1524 mm of effective edge. This shape has unmatched corduroy carving performance and is wide enough to afford real trenching without booting out. SPECIFICATIONS Length: 185 cm Core: Ash/popl...

Tarfala Valley is a hidden gem nestled deep within Swedish Lapland. When spring comes Stranda founder Mats Drougge takes guests and team riders for an epic week of splitboarding in this remote location. The valley is surrounded by Swedens highest peaks and largest glaciers and they have a whole mountain range for themself. 2023 was a year going to the books as 85 centimeter of cold blower snow ...
The Stranda Cheater - our ultimate freecarve board

If you wanna now what a good snowboard for carving looks like? Here it is! The Cheater from Stranda. Watch how Lars and Mats slices the cordury. This is a no compromise shape for piste connoisseurs. It's not a freeride board or a beefed up freestyle board. With it's 1429 mm of effective, triple dampening and full camber the edge hold is outerworldy and skidding is not an option. This board carv...
THE STRANDA SHORTY 2025

Stranda founder and shaper Mats Drougge explains the design of the Shorty in this video. The Shorty is our original surf shape. Desgined to be ridden longer than your regular board. It’s well known for being as fun on the groomers as in the backcountry. For 2024 we updated the topsheet design and made some adjustment to the nose flex adding double alu-stringers. This dramatically decreases vibra...

Stranda Shorty Backcountry Splitboard - review - fast and stable
I am Looking at getting a splitboard next year for the next season here and am trying to figure out what S.Board I want to go with. One thing I was wondering about is volume shifted split boards? Are they any good? You mention that you want the narrowest board you can get away with without having any toe/heel drag but I have noticed a couple volume shifted S.Boards on the market and was curious if they're any good? Other than the annoyance of trying to skin up and track through tracks that are too narrow for wide board you have are there any other major reasons not to get a shorter volume shifted Split? The Ride SplitPig is the board I have in mind.
What size boards are ya"ll riding? Im looking at the biru. Ive never ridden anything but a twin/directional twin. Im 160 lbs size 10 boot. Usually ride high end twins between 154 and 158. Im curious about the 150 since iver never ridden anything under a 154 but am worried ill wish i got the 154. Whatcha think?
Epic. Thanks for sharing!
I'm torn between the Makrill, Bowl Rider, & Tree Surfer. Leaning towards the BR as I am 230lbs & worried the Makrill might be a touch short for my weight in deeper pow. Mostly surfing/slashing🤙
I think you should go for the Bowlrider. Will absolutely fit you best for your weight and riding style. /Mats
@StrandaSnowboards Cheers for getting back to me Mats! I ended up buying the 162W Tree Surfer from your website. I've never owned a swallow tail, & your version called out to me! (with a bit of help from Lars😎) Almost bought the 165 BR demo board from Edge of the World. Ultimately, I would like to own a quiver of Strandas✔️ I'm down in Oregon & cannot wait for the next dump❄️🏂
@@captainniles8345 The Tree Surfer rides like any directional carver on groomers but unleash amazing powder power. Good choice. Wishing you a great rest of season and thanks for the trust in Stranda. 🙌🏻
which one has better pop for side hits ?
just realised the 150 only have 2x6 holes instead of 2x7s, that's sad :(
Sranda is on the right track. design your models, refine and tweek them and then offer sizes for all riders. My Tree Surfer W. is in the mail.!!
Biru ordered and on the way!
Possible to order this colorway still instead of the 24/25 colors?😅
I love my Treesurfer. Thanks! Definitely a quiver killer.
How do you compare this to the tree surfer? Both look like amazing boards
Yeah they are equally amazing. The biggest difference is the how they turn. Makrill has much more of surfboard feel as it turns on the tail. The Tree Surfer is much more center balanced and has a more drawn out radius. In powder they are both very agile, but the Tree Surfer is the more relaxed while the Makrill takes up every little input from it's rider. /Mats
@@StrandaSnowboardsi ordered the Makril earlier this week after talking with you on several different platforms. Thanks for the advice and awesome boards
@ Great to hear. Yeah I see your handle. Hi Cory! Enjoy your new board! 🤙🏻
Would the new falcors be good with the biru?
Any more news on a starliner release?
Hi Mats, been really excited about the Shorty. Only doubt: would it do well in relatively steep and deep backcountry powder of Descender or other do better?
Hi Mats, been really excited about the Shorty. Only doubt: would it do well in relatively steep and deep backcountry powder of Descender or other do better?
Hi Peter, The Shorty really excels in steep and deep. I think it has the upper hand in deep powder compared to the Descender. Descender is more technical and has a bit more freestyle pedigree with its more twinnish shape.
Torn between the Shorty and the Cheater. Would really love a comparison between the both. For reference, I am not doing a lot of tree riding. Not a lot of off-piste either. Would definitely like to up my game on carving. Given both the boards are great for carving, I am torn. Should I go for the Shorty or the Cheater?
I really want to try a Stranda and this one and the makrill speak to me! With size 11 boots do you think I’d be ok with the 162? Thinking the 162W might be a bit much for me (160lbs/70kg, 6’3). Although I like bigger boards and stability. Just don’t want to boot out
What size is the Bowrider and what is the waist width because i wear a 29.5 to 30 boot?
159 and 165. Waist is 26 on both lengths. There is a wide 165 coming for next season. Until then checkout the Tree Surfer 162 wide. 27 waist. Basically same shape as Bowl. but with a fish tail.
Hej Mats, i'm about to order the Pipeliner 2.0. i'm 169cm, 85 kg and size 41 EU on my snowboard boot and 270 waist witdh is from experience my ideal width for laid-down connected fs and bs turns. 275 is the upper limit, 278 was too wide, too much strain on my achilles tendon... so a 270 would pbbly be perfect, looking forward to the 275 - maybe it already is perfect for my turns that 99% of snowboarders will never do when underfoot width is maybe a little less than 280 when i pick the innermost inserts - ah this could be a dream board! :D
The color grading reminds me of the soviet movies of the 70s :)
👌🎥
I was there at Butterz the day they filmed this… great season layin rail at The Milk! Epic Carving Hill 🤌🏼🏂🤙🏼
So true! My preferred. Will be back after New Year. /Mats
Sick, more turns please!
You can count on that!
Reminds me of a Rossignol sushi. My favorite tight tree pow board. So nimble. This looks like a better carver though like a mix of the sushi and a korua dart.
Beautiful riding, Mats!! I think it’s very cool to see the shaper rip on his own creation… a powerful image! Makrill is killer! Just incredible how solid that little rocket feels. Well done! 👏🔥
Thank you Lars. Means a lot coming from a master piste slicer! /Mats
@@StrandaSnowboards 🙏🙂 Der Pistenschlitzer…. 😅

The Endless Winter
The Makrill is such a good board.
Thank you Avran!
Gorgeous board!
Thank you! And it rides amazingly good in all conditions as well!
👀 Might have to get a stranda for this season
You should!
Let’s go
So happy I did not order my Biru yet because now I will go for the split!! ❤
I took a Shorty 164 last season, after renting the 159 from a dealer in my area and I was amazed by the feeling, already with the front arm on the ground at the third corner, I took the longest size from 164 to have more stability with the highest speeds, initially I had more difficulty finding the correct set up and I thought I made a mistake with the size, then I advanced the attacks, and it was magic but then the snow is over! it has a really long nose 😁 now I have to find the perfect one. I'll try what you suggested +27 +12. And in the Dolomites it's already snowing 🤩😍🤩 Great Mats, thank you and congratulations for your wonderful work 👍
Thoughts on sizing? I'm 5'9" (176cm), weight between 175-185lbs (80-83kg), size 9 US boot (42 Eu). I currently ride a 159 Korua Pencil and I'm looking for something that is a little more playful for groomers, trees, and occassional switch riding on the east coast. Do you recommend the 154 or would I benefit from going down to the 150? Thanks!
You’re right about thinking 150 for the kind of riding you’re aiming for. The 150 has still a lot of stability but will be a better option for a more playful style and complementing your other board. /Mats
Vad kul. Vi kommer att vara där, självklart!

It’s so difficult to find a Stranda seller in Germany or Austria 😢
Takes about 3-4 days shipping and it's included in price.
@@StrandaSnowboards Thanks! Looking forward ripping snow with the Biru 😍
Hi Max - thanks fr getting my Pipeliner 2.0 out to me last spring - I got in three really fun days and fell in love with sublime cruise-carve nature of the board❤️ I’m really looking forward to improving my form with deep smooth turns that let this ride shine😎
I need it
I have a 153 Golden Orcha, would this be similar to it? If not, do I get a 164? I want something different and thinking of the Tree Surfer if this is similar to the Orcha.
No, this is a "size up shape". Made to be ridden larger. And it has regular camber in center with a long rockered nose. Should go 159 or possible 164.
@@StrandaSnowboardsThank you. I really want the shorty
I cant wait til someone starts stocking your boards in Australia! They look so fuckn sick!
Hey Mats, this board is an absolute beauty. I'm size US 9(EU 43) boot with 145lbs(65kg), what size of Biru should I pick? Thank you.
Hi there, sorry for taking a while. I would do the new 150. Cheers / Mats
Really is helpful getting proper recommendations…so many brands it feels like you would have to spend hours reading descriptions or testing each board to know who they are aiming at with each model.
Prepping my just arrived Shorty 169 for next season, any suggestions where to start with on stance widths and angles when riding hard pack? Planning to use Flow NX2 bindings.
Center of inserts. 27/12 or possibly 9 on rear foot. /Mats
@@StrandaSnowboards Thanks Mats, appreciated!
That rider would make any board look good.
If I ride a 160W normally how much should I downsize? I'm 6'1" 180 lbs, size 12 boots
What a beauty. New dream board overtaking the cheater 175w❤
I would use it exclusively for carving if it’s going to be longer than 165cm. I prefer throwing a board about and occasionally riding switch in powder.
I’m 6’3 and size 12 boot. Please make an ultra wide version !
WHOOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!
Awesome! Sweet turns!
