Subaru Forester Wilderness Vs. Ford Bronco 6G: Who Will Win?
Dumb question … with CarPlay why do you need to access your phone in a mount? I ask this with intention of getting a rail and maybe using the phone for off-road video purposes and getting an iPad mount for off-road mapping purposes. But I’m genuinely interested in how folks are using their phones along with CarPlay or Android Auto (whatever it’s called).
I now use an ipad for nav while off-roading using OnX. I don't mount my phone anymore. Car play is bluetooth enabled so whether in a mount of on the center console it will connect without issue. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the dimensions of the tie rods.
Happy to help!
I’m curious why you picked the driver side for the fridge. I’ve seen most on the passenger side where the 12v cig plug is located. I have same fridge and dometic battery and curious where you keep your battery for the fridge as well. Thanks and great video
Great question! Because I am running the Goose Gear cargo floor, I wanted to keep access to the storage underneath, and the door for that is on the passenger side, just right of the fridge. They do make it with the hatch on both sides, so its really personal preference. But for me, the driver-side mount is better for accessing the refrigerator when the gate is open and the table is folded down. It makes for a good working area without having to move stuff to access the fridge and or table. The Goal Zero battery is above the fridge on the JCR half shelf, and I run power to the 12-volt input on the passenger side to power up the battery while driving. You can see that setup at the 1:19 mark. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I got a set from eBay. $25. They aren't as glossy as these and have more of the tape on the inside, with little tabs to help pull the backing off. They fit perfectly. Very happy
That is great! I love the flat black look.
Great review, thank you!
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Appreciate your feedback and hoep you are out loving your Bronco.
These are only available on Ebay now. They ship from china. $25. Still only glossy. Wish they had matte black
Yeah they keep disappearing on Amazon with no real alternative in this price point. Which sucks because mine are still going strong. Thanks for the heads up!
What is your favorite solution for door storage?
This does look like a nice option. One thing I liked about Off-Rodeo is seeing what has deteriorated on the older Broncos. Every single one of them had blown out door nets. They were stretched and all the bottoms were pulled out. Thanks for the video.
That is so true! I went to Off-Rodeo year one when they were all nice and new, but as you said, I bet they are showing some wear now. Thanks for watching!
Well shit! Who knew? If I had known all this time that a screwdriver and self tapping screws put a different type of hole in my dash than a drill does, I might would’ve already done it! NOT!!! I spoke w/67 Designs TODAY ? They are fantastic...I told her I wanted ANYTHING that I didn’t have to put ANY KIND of hole in my Jeep or Bronco!
They are fantastic. Did they offer a non-hole solution? There are other solutions out there without holes and just uses double sided tape. For me personally, I have no plans to ever remove it so a tiny hole in the dash you will never see is no big deal to me. If I sell the Bronco it will go with it. If Ford had this as OEM option from the factory would you care if there was a hole you couldn't see holding it to the dash?
Um yeah.....I built my own deck and it cost me about $60 in materials and a few hours of my time. Does it look as clean? Nope, but not too far off. Does it accomplish everything the Goose Gear system does....Yuuuup!
That is great! As long as it fit your needs and you enjoyed spending time building it is all that matters. Hope you have a blast in your ride!
Thanks for posting this. That really seems like an easy install. Could you tell me what battery system is shown? It seems to fit very nicely in the space above the JCR rack. Thanks!
Hello, it is a simple installation. Thanks for watching. The battery is a Goal Zero 1500X and has room on the front and back, although it won't fit oriented the other way in the JCR shelf. The battery is plugged into the power outlet and recharged off the Bronco alternator while driving.
Great video! Also, love the flags! Bronco Nation
Thanks! Hope you are out having fun in your Bronco!
400 and Sixty, nine dollars. For a fucking table. Your economy is fucked.
Of course, we'd all love to purchase a high-quality, tailgate table at a fraction of the price, but the cheaper tables just don't match up. This is by far the best tailgate table available. Made from high-quality stainless steel with incredible attention to detail, from no-drill mounting to its finish, function and no rattle while hammering on the trail, it's worth every penny The only comparable option is the Goose Gear and it's similarly priced. If this isn't within your budget, there are many cheaper tables available. I hope you find one that meets your needs and budget!
And THIS one,"goes into the screw spot."🤣😝😝😝
Yeah this is off the cuff. Me just opening my mouth and words roll on out.... LOL
Link isn't working anymore. Do you recall the brand?
I’m surprised it doesnt clear the door the pics on trail rx in the Raptor looks like it does. Now I’m wondering if mine are not going to clear when I go to install them
This is not the TrailRax recovery board mount. Theirs will clear the back door if you slide it farther back but the boards will extend past the rear of the Bronco. The Expedition Essential solution shown here is a way better mount but doesn't allow you to adjust it back farther on the TrailRax sidepax to clear the door unless you have a two-door Bronco since the rear is bigger. Hope that clears up any confusion.
@@dangermtbbronco yes thanks! I have a Gobi rack / Molle panel and haven’t bought a mount yet I’m looking at Racks Brax or waiting for Gobi make one. I bought the Molle for the recovery boards so I’m hoping to figure it out soon!
@@RebeccaTiffany1 Great! Sounds like you will figure it out. Goof luck and have fun in the Bronco!
@@dangermtbbronco thanks!
Did you look at the Trailrax traction board mount? I'm just curious what swayed you to these. I do like these, I'm just curious
I bought this mount before TrailRax had their mount. I did look at their mount after because this mount Im running the boards block opening the rear passenger door on the 4 door when mounted not a huge deal for me and it is very secure. The trailrax mount has the issue of extending the hoards past the back which I don't like how it looks but still A good solution and way cheaper than this one.
@@dangermtbbronco I appreciate the feedback. I've even considered mounting them on top. I guess I'll bounce it around a bit until I'm ready to pull the trigger
Did i see a Park Tool allen wrench? That immediately got me to subscribe.
Yes! Long time MTB who loves solid tools. The Parks never disappoint and thanks for subscribing. You must ride as well?
@dangermtbbronco I've got a Trek Roscoe 8 but I don't get out much. I'm so far out of shape. My Bronco should be here next month then maybe I'll get the bike out on more adventures with me and the Badlands
Im not a fan of the wood personally. Especially at the price of this. I dont wanna have tocworry aboit wood rotting.
Not an issue it is covered in a durable textured coating. Unless you are taking your rig in the lake rot isn't going to be an issue. There is an aluminum floor from American Adventure Labs called the MASS system worth checking out if wood isn't an option for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
At what point in the video did you take the left onto 2N703? Also, were there any hard parts of the trail? I was thinking about doing this trail soon so I wanted to make sure its doable for my lifted Expedition on 35s. Thanks, really enjoyed the video.
Hi Sorry I didn't shoot the turn off but it is on Burns Canyon rd at the split before you start climbing in elevation. Ill thow the link to that section from OnX for you below. I would stay on Burns there was a few more difficult sections on that turnoff since we hit it right after the rains. Might be easier now. View it in the onX Offroad app here: onxoffroad.app.link/S9OLgPKGfEb
Bummed we didn’t do Rattlesnake when we were out there. We did Burns from Big Bear to Pioneer/Joshua with a Toro rental BB Sasquatch and w/o any recovery gear - I was skeptical - but, I didn’t see anything too technical. Beautiful drives either way.
Awesome vid! You were hauling ass through the desert! Have you modified the Bronco?
Thanks for watching! Yes, I am running the Icon Stage 8 suspension kit on Method 705 wheels with BFG KO2 35s. Made high speed desert and fire road stuff incredible compared to stock Sasquatch suspension. If you haven't yet please subscribe for future videos I really appreciate it and hope you are loving your Bronco.
4x4 high? While flying thru the sand
This looks nice. I so wish they made one from HDPE
Thanks, I am still really loving it. Interesting idea. I know people use HDPE for applications like the bottom of sliders. I need to learn more about it to know how great it would be for this application. I bet HDPE would look pretty bad after a few months of sliding gear in and out. I assume plywood is cheaper for Goose Gear and likely has a much smaller carbon footprint. But again, I am not knowledgeable in this area. Expedition Essentials makes a great option from Aluminum.
I am going to this trail Tuesday.
How did it go?
@@dangermtbbronco this was my fourth time going wasn’t a beginner trial. It definitely had its harder spots. Before we got to the end of the desert beginning of the mountain, we came to a rocky spot and it was intense. We had to turn around and go a different way. There’s also a flipped over Dodge in that crazy rocky area looks like they might’ve pushed it off the mountain
Yeah the rains have changed it quite a bit this year. Glad you had a great time! That rocky spot I think you are talking about the trail splits into left and right there it seems. We just drove through the middle over the rocks to get back onto the other trail. Always sucks seeing a rig flipped over.@@NobodyImportantx00
@@dangermtbbronco that’s wasn’t a beginner trail. That’s my third time really going somewhere
@@NobodyImportantx00 Yeah it is a moderate trail rated at a 4, but after the rains a few sections are a bit tougher.
how are your BRONCO letters holding up? (9 Sep, 2023)
Really well. They are still holding tight and look great. Really important to take alcohol and prep before attaching.
What are you using for your whip mount?
Hi I am using a custom mount I made. Just a piece of metal bolted to my roof rack then the whip bolts onto that. I didn't want the whip hitting the body so I mounted it high on the rack. There are a few quick release mount options on the market as well. I think I will end up going that route and mount the flag to the front trail site with the bracket from Trailrax.
Was this before or after tropical storm Hilary?
This was after this past Saturday. The storm changed the trail considerably and made Burns Canyon impassable without taking the 2N703 Off shoot.
@@dangermtbbronco yeah idk the trail names and what not. But I remember finding that trail out.
you can use a clear flat spray over the black
Great idea!
The second link no longer works either.
Thanks for letting me know. I updated the link to a new option that is exactly the same and at a great price. Hope that helps.
Holy sh*t dude, you be goin crazy keep this crazy stuff up!
Where did you get the piece for the magnetic mic attached to the 20mm ball?
Hello, everything you see is from 67 Designs. The magnetic mic holder can be bought from them as well. www.67d.com/products/magnet-mic-holder
Did you talk about the shelf?
High Patrick I have not made a video about the shelf yet. Great shelf from JCR Offroad.
love my wild trac sasquach just hate the speed limiter!
Thanks for sharing. We purchased the whole rear platform (seat delete) and drawers from goose gear. Can’t wait to get ours!
You are going to love it!
Bronco relegates Jeep to Salvage
I can't find them on Amazon anymore
Hi I actually listed a different version the video description that is pretty much the same thing. Hope that helps!
Best tailgate table or not, I don't see anything there worth $400
Value can mean different things to different people. You could make your own cheaper version of this, but it probably wouldn't be as good and likely take a lot of time. This table is bombproof! Really strong and well-made from quality materials and is dead silent when off-roading. There are cheaper ones out there, but they often require you to drill your tailgate and didn't meet my needs for one reason or another. For example, they had holes in the tabletop, molle panels, or two shelves, which I didn't want for many reasons. Your needs could be different from mine. I hope you find one that's worth it for you. Until then hope to see you on the trail. Hell, I'll even pour you a glass of bourbon on my table....
That would look amazing with the bronco horse logo branded into the wood when it's closed
Yeah I actually burned my logo into it but agree the Bronco logo would also look great. You can see mine at instagram.com/p/Cn5ce0aPZPi/
@@dangermtbbronco looks great!
Are they still holding up well?
Yes very well. An dIve been on some rough roads at high speeds, hit them with the pressure washer etc. Still holding strong and look the same.
I cannot find this on amazon anymore, do you know of anywhere else they sell or make them?
Hey Derek, These are not the ones I bought but they are the same thing. a.co/d/56OVXdm
@@dangermtbbronco thanks so much bro I appreciate it!!
nice looking table but it seems like cutting board won't take much weight.
The cutting board is made of bamboo it is very strong and it rests on full width stainless steel channels. Not sure how much weight you need to put on the board but I'm confident it has plenty of strength for the fattest of steaks, food, bowls, lanterns, etc.

The plate appears to have some blocks that raise it slightly. I installed a battery system from American Adventure Labs in the storage compartment under the floor and have one 4 AWG wire going to it from the engine bay and one 8 AWG wire and a ground going out and over to the rear panel on the driver’s side. Would you think there is enough room for these wires to sit under the Goose Gear floor? I have the factory floor over these wires now, which is flexible enough to conform around it.
Hi John, Great question. I am considering buying that same battery system from AAL and think there is plenty of room for wiring under the Goose Gear Rear plate. The only potential downside is that you don't have the same full access since the Goose Gear plate only allows you to flip up one side compared to the factory. But there's probably no need to access the batteries and wiring once it's installed unless you have an issue, and if so, you could easily remove the whole plate, which I have had to do several times for other gear installs. How do you like the AAL battery system?
@@dangermtbbronco That gives me more confidence that this solution will work; thanks. I just completed the AAL install about a week ago so I don’t have any trail experience with it yet but I like the look. There’s a thread in Bronco6G where I discussed it with others and uploaded pics (I’m BroncoInTheATL).
@@JRMulcahy Thanks! I commented on the 6g thread with a question for you.
Not a 68 Bronco 🤣😂
Nope check my other shorts for some classics.
I love that new retro
I used the 67 designs bronco ball in place of the accessories screw to mount my go pro. It leaves the rail clear for other track ball mounting as well as centering the go pro mount!!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
