One thing I don't like about Anupama Chopra is that her choice in movies is one dimensional. Sometimes a movie need be lively ,joyful, a bit over the top for people to enjoy. A movie doesn't need to have a social theme / messaging or anything. The kind of movie I am talking about is Aavesham ,which truly deserved to be in this list.

Whole film is alligorical just like his other films. I'm a long tern Upendra fan and loved this film, it was exactly how i expected it to be and that is some unexpected

This list shows that indian critics doesn't care about glorifying indian cinema/culture globally. They just want to live in dilemma that world building films can be made only in west and we are muted spectators of that. World building is the new craft which indian filmmakers should master in coming days where Nag Ashwin is already did phenomenal work with Kalki ( not talking about Prabhas characterization, it could've done better) his efforts deserves appreciation. And your lack of empathy towards Sci-fi films and anonymously lifting dull films up just because they have one or 2 social points makes you typical indian politically biased critic.

Aattam- Aattam is a thriller of accusation and betrayal set against the backdrop of a theatre troupe. National awards for Best film 2024 3. Manjummel Boys- Manjummel boys' adventure takes a dangerous turn when one of them plunges into Guna Caves, igniting a test of unity in a fight for survival. 4. Bramayugam- atmospheric folk horror film that takes us into Kerala's 16th century , set in BW and brilliantly performed by mammooty. 5.Ullozhukku- female led achingly beautiful, bittersweet tale of empathy and human connection set among a funeral amidst rising waters 6.Aavesham-comedic gangster saga with impeccable finesse. Jithu Madhavan’s masterful storytelling and Fahadh Faasil’s electrifying performance as ‘Ranga 7. Premalu- set in hyderabad , hilarious Rom-Com with relatable undertones and incredibly honest performances 8. It was very interesting to listen to all. Such discerning minds. What if a new OTT exclusively for Indian independent cinema is created? Telugu, Malayalam, Odiya, Bengali, Tamil, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi - all kinds of independent films put up there. Quality check with some deciphering minds to select good independent cinema and not the bad ones (As Tamhane said, some are real bores) . Some names such as Rana, Vikramaditya, Payal, Chaitnya and others promote it. Good quality cinema even if less in number is exhibited there. Tie up with Amazon etc for subscriptions. As a step towards creating eco-system, finding connecting threads as Rana says. Also theatres for independent cinema, documentaries as part of the process. And film appreciations courses across cities for general public so that a new taste can be developed and audiences can be made excited about it. Even if that taste already exists as Rima says - but it can be further nudged and enhanced. And then slowly building a corpus to fund good independent cinema. New voices, new stories.

As a Superstar he could make a mass masala film like Lucifer or Narasimham but he made a 3d kid's movie. I Appreciate his efforts looking for more..
