What powers that electrical box? My pilot light went out, but there's no light flashing on the box and I can't figure out where the power would be coming from.
Top notch video. Thanks for sharing this and to know there are still quality technicians out there that aren’t afraid to share there knowledge to the homeowner after making that purchase on a product.
With this configuration, is it ok to shut off one hot water heater and run on only one while keeping the shut-off hot water in place? The reason why I am asking is in the event one of the hot heaters starts leaking. Would like to simply turn off the leaking hot water heater and run on only one.....? Thanks.
Thanks for the excellent and clean shot! Subscribed.
How many watts in this
Thank you for showing me how to do it 🥲
Thank you!!!
Thank You
the light is on and pilot is on, but there's still no hot water coming out, what do i do now?
Thanks for the video. Used to take out filter and three chipmonk babies were curled up inside. They came awake in the sun after 45 minutes. Put them in a box with water and blueberries!
Very nicely done video. I was more confident in my procedure after watching your video and successfully maintained my system. Thank you!
Very helpful and informative. Great presentation! Thanks!
Worked like a charm
My 75 gallon Bradford White from 2020 has a dedicated anode rod hole instead of the hot water outlet. My problem is that they say the anode rod is about 50” long and yet I only have about 30” of ceiling clearance. Ughh.
Thank you. Super simple to follow.
Is there an anode rod on both pipes (inlet/outlet)?
No. Hot water outlet only.
Thank you so much. I got my pilot lit within seconds. I so appreciate you putting this on here. You are amazing. You have saved me hundreds of dollars with this post.
I've never had a water heater where they used unions at the top, I've always had to cut the pipe. I think some plumbers do this on purpose because most home owners don't know how to sweat pipe.
I loved that you had hot and cold colored hoses! I have a problem. There is no floor drain in my equipment room. How do I run water for ten minutes with no drain nearby?
Can I cut 2 inches off the rod? Unit is on a stand so I have a clearance limit from the top to the ceiling.
I reviewed other videos and this was by far the most outstanding. Easy to understand and to follow the instructions. Even though it's five years old, it is still relevant to taking care of your water heater. I just hope Ray and his company are doing well.
Big thanks. The company my home warranty sent wanted to charge $680.00!
Thanks Ray go getcha a cold one 🍺
Awesome video, thank you! A question about the last part: instead of using the garden hose to get the vinegar out, can we just open the isolation valves and open the kitchen hot water faucet for 10 minutes? Sure, we'd get some vinegar into the house hot water pipes, but after running water for 10 minutes, there shouldn't be much left... (plus, we'll be running even more hot water daily anyway)
Excellent video ! Thank you. I think here is one crucial step missing in the video at 10:17: turning OFF the cold water isolation valve after flushing (the next scene shows it turned OFF).
Damn! I've been light-flushing my water heater every 3 months for years, but I had no idea about the full annual process to completely empty and "power flush" the tank. I'll definitely be implementing this into my schedule. Thx so much!
Bought one two weeks ago. Worth every penny !!!!
One would think BW would use a five inch nipple for HW/anode piece. Poor design.BW parts are way overpriced and available only on line to us plebes. I guess their tanks are equivalent to everybody else because six year warranties are standard for the big names. When I replace I’ll use a Smith brand.
What a clear, straightforward explanation of "how to"! I installed one of these water heaters for the home I built last year and cleaning the thing has been hanging over my head for the last few months (yes, I read the manual BUT, the tech writer Navien hired obviously had no idea what he was attempting to get across to the average user. Thank you very much - this was time well spent!
The inlet water filter that you show in this video (minute 9:05) looks like mine. It was a bear to take out and worse to reinstall the previous 2 years. It was completely destroyed when I took it out this year. I bought a new one that absolutely would not go in. I was able to install the filter without the orange flow restricter, so that's what I did. The reason I felt comfortable doing this is because your earlier video from 5 years ago shows a shorter filter without the flow restricter at 6:12 minutes. In addition, the User's Manual shows the shorter filter on page 12 and the parts list for the waterway assembly (11.4.3) also shows the filter without the restricter (item #12). But when I ordered the part by by the number given (30007878A), the part that arrived had a cup for the flow restricter. Would it be possible for you to make a video that clears up this confusion?
Thank you for the video it is perfect demonstration. I understand that we do not need descaling for boiler side. How about don't we need to clean filter on boiler side? It looks like there is another filter in that side.
Thank you so much it’s really helpful 🙏
Great video 👍
How long u hold the button
Is there any extra steps with the combi?
October 22/24 How come you don't want to run it with the gas lit? And the unit lit, wouldn't it get cleaner using hot water ?Than cold water ? 😮😮😮😮
I would suggest heat it up first. Get your hose is both hot. Then turn off the gas and then turn off the unit and then let it run for an hour ... until the water gets cold, whichever comes first ... and since this video is five years old ... the newer models are different. Why do they put the hot and cold input and output so close to one another ... ... at least bring your connector down.Another six inches ... f you run your two gallons of vinegar .... empty the bucket ... start over with another two fresh clean vinegar .... again, I would heat it up.Get it hot and let it cool. .. hot water cleans better than cold ! 😅😅😅😅
This was amazing
Great video thanks for your time and expertise, much appreciated.
Thank you so much. You explain how to clean the heater very well. I have learned a few tricks over the past three years. After cleaning I open the pressure valve to empty more of the vinegar. It makes the wife happy that the water doesn't smell like vinegar when I'm done, and put a little Vaseline on rubber washers to keep them from rotting too fast.
Anybody else notice the hoses switched places during the video?
One question: after flushing the demand water heater, to flush out the vinegar, is it a good idea to flush the sump pump, to get rid of the vinegar in it , and the hoses used with it, as well?
Could you please suggest a submersible pump I can buy to do descaling? Thank you
It would be so much easier if they would just separate the anode rod from the supply. Especially if you are just inspecting, the cost is less for the customer and the job is easier for the service person. I avoid these tanks for that reason, there are equal or better tanks with a separate rod.
isn't replacing the filter a common enough theme to be mentioned?
What hp pump do we need to use?
Do you turn the system or the gas off first?
I turned of part of gas to hook up a new dryer and I guess I needed to re light my water heater. I was so scared lol but I followed the video and it’s lit again thank you so much!!
Gracias ✌️
Thank you again for this video. I used this again today and was successful.
Thanks so much for your honesty and clear video. Getting ready to flush mine after a year. Saved the video so I do not have to rely on the existence of you tube. Cheers!
