I think you'll find baseball caps are still pretty popular down at the mall. For the professional world the attire has gradually been casualized down the years, from fully suited and booted to smart-casual.
Now i wnat buy a hat;]
As someone with a rapidly receding hairline, I definitely have not stopped wearing hats.
There was also other reasons that people had head covering early in history, back in various cultures because of religion beliefs, not just for warmth and status...even several cultures still today have head coverings especially with women.. But I am thinking that hygiene was another reason... people did not bathe a lot, and various bugs could get into your hair and so hair not washed often may attract lice so wearing hats would be to hide unwashed hair and or lice..
I still wear hats. Bucket hats 😎
Because my head is too big
I have read that you can protect your soul from the influences of other „souls“(?) by wearing a hat. Specifically the posterior fontanel is very important to protect (7. chakra). But I do not know how to make it without looking very strange.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been wondering for ages why no one my age (I’m 19) seems to want to accessorise with hats they’re so fun but I can’t help but feel out of place when I wear one
I've never thought baseball caps a good look for anyone not playing baseball; they seem the worst of both worlds. Dad and I both have green eyes, and some years ago he sent me a dark green Bogart fedora to match his own. LOVE it, especially when it's cold or rainy. Get a lot of compliments about it too, I guess because nobody wears them.
Your voice is golden!
Wish hats are still in. I like hats it's much easier than making my hair look decent
bucket hat has been in service passing 7 years blokes 😤🤞
Not the kind of video I would usually watch. Stumbled upon it and gave it a shot. Pleasantly surprised and walking away with a bit of extra historical knowledge. Thanks!
It must feel nice to get noticed by crowd. This channel of yours gets about hundreds of views for each effort, now one of them got almost a million! Well, it's all deserved, congratulations!
In my country the founder of the republic simply banned hats. That's how everyone stopped wearing them. Türkiye 🇹🇷 Atatürk
I wear a hat all spring and summer on sunny days due to a heat/sun tolerance issue. Once I found a style I liked, I began to enjoy it, but I do wish wearing hats (besides baseball or trucker here in the US) was still more generally in style.
Great video!
I'm so tired of people always refering to egyptians, greecs and romans.
5:32 WEAK: cut inhales from final edit. GIGACHAD: inserts double-inhales!
yeah sure, cowboys wore bowler, not stanton, because bowler provides more protection from sun with its wider fields. right? RIGHT? don't believe your eyes, or don't look at old photographs of 19th century at all.
"at least SOME historical accuracy" -- shows screenshot from Titanic where LITERALLY EVERYONE (13 persons) except two main characters is wearing a hat.
This man can't pronounce the letter "R"
OH hats are mandatory here where I live, in Colombia, because of the sun and rains seasons, specially baseball caps are very useful. Even some we still use stetsons or fedoras, specially the crushable ones. Thank you so much for this video, cheers!
I wear hats 🧢
Because jew
They're hot. In general I think the world is a hotter place, people can't stand to walk around wearing a hat and full suit. Also, if there is any sort of wind it can blast your hat off very quickly. I think people are less ashamed of baldness these days. And many other reasons. Basically, they aren't necessary. People have gotten efficient with life. Why wear a full suit that makes me look really nice if it makes me really hot and uncomfortable? Why wear a hat that can get blown away by the wind, will make me sweat and isn't really hiding anything I'm ashamed of anyways? Sure, they look nice, but life is about more than looking nice. In general I think people at large care a lot less about what others think about them, while back in the day appearances were EVERYTHING.
I dont wear hats because my head shape isnt condusive with all of emq
The age of democracies contributed to equality on the field of headwear. In North Germany, not wearing a hat -- exept under climatic requirement -- is a sign of independence. And imho a sign of stupidity if temperatures are below freezing point. Or a burning summer sun. I see women who shiver and complain about the cold, but don't want their hairstyle to be ruined. 😂 As for me, I'm a hat fetishist, having a number of berets in different colours to go with my outfit, also screencaps to confess my pro-Ukrainian attitude, frostproof winter hats and when I was younger, I wore turbans in abundance.
An interesting demonstration of how we're all under cultural pressure to conform to the social norms of our era.
TLDW: cars & Black ppl started wearing baseball caps....and white youth copied them. And for those who didnt they choose to wear nothing.
What if the hat makers put on a hat fashion show where they would get the coolest looking hats and show the world what their heads are missing, would there be a hat revolution in 2024? I think so, there are so many activities you can do with hats especially high quality hats. My uncle's friend was an artisan hat maker, he would constantly have multiple fake heads around his house, it scared me at first but when he explained to me they were not real and made of plastic i suddenly realized this guy must be a hat creator and it turned out I was right, he was. He was creating hats for 7 generations but during the great hat market collapse of the 1980s his hat-shop was repurposed as a bakery, he used his artisan hats as molds for cakes.
Yep. Ive dolded my Sterson Mello Felt hat.
Another reason is with the advent of most people having access to cars or otherwise roofed transportation and the development of hooded coats reduced the need for hats. I still love hats and am glad to live where hats are necessary in winter.
I just found your channel and I'm really enjoying your videos! They're so informative and you explain everything in a very nice, relaxed manner. Nothing like most youtube channels. Please keep up the good work!
I imagine hygiene has a lot to do with it. No one was washing their hair and I'm sure headlice and fleas were common. Trying to cover some of it up with a hat
I have yet to find a hat I look good in qwq
They keep shrinking, then the wind takes them cause they don't hold well.
I always wear a hat similar to that worn by Indiana Jones Father. While out and about, all ages approach me and tell me I have a nice hat. Even when one of my older ones developed a hole in it, it was almost more appreciated by passersbys. I am nearly 40, I have worn a hat almost everyday of my life. I also went bald at 15 :p
The rules in London used to be: 1) A gentleman isn’t dressed without a hat. BUT… 2) A gentleman doesn’t wear a hat indoors. So you were supposed to wear a hat outdoors but also have a haircut that still looked impeccable when you took your hat off. That may have worked in an age of sleeked-back hair combed with hair oil, but not in an age of personally styled haircuts formed with hair gel. For most people today it’s impossible to obey both of the two rules and look presentable either way. So they either ditch the hat altogether or wear one all the time if they’re thinning on top and don’t like it.
Good points.
Born in 1951. I miss hats. Men looked distinguished, and women looked stylish. They were fun. For a while, people didn't wear hats day to day, but would when going to church or out on the town. After Jackie Kennedy, it all died. sad.
Bruh wth u talking about I'm wearing a hat rn
As a kitesurfer, I prefer to wear a cap on a beach.
Because schools keep telling us to not wear hats and charge us to wear an extra piece of clothing on a specific day. Hats became unprofessional in corporate jobs
hello mee :3
Fashion sense changed. It was considered old fashioned to wear a hat after the 1960's. I can remember my dad wearing a hat when he went out. He devolved to wearing a baseball style hat most of the time.
Easy peasy, if you are outdoor a lot of the time you were a headgear if you are indoors, or in a car you do not need it. The lack of hats only reflects that we mostly spend our time indoors now.
It’s not a fashion statement, for me. Keeps the sun off my face.
Been wearing hats since my early youth. Now 41 years of age, war my hats daily and have quite the collection. Love me some hats. Definitely agree. The world as a whole has lost something of great value.
I couldn't finish the video, hats wearing is from the church
