Is there any other BBC closedowns where the commercial breaks announcers had their retirement? Peter Bolgar and David Miles’ final entries from 1993-1995 are the only other ones I csn think of.

I Think there was some form of Power cut or loss for more then one reason 1) The Film just dropped 2) You see about 5-10 seconds after the power off drop 3) The Sketchy Transmission on Andy Talking at the start 4) The loss of sound

This was 18 days before BBC changed their identity.

This was the short time when bbc1 had gone to the very nice balloon idents on the 4 october 1997 but still closing down until the 9 november that year when that ended when bbc news. 24 as it was then took over instead at night time so too. Thank you of course so too .

Paul Owen joined the BBC as a continuity announcer in 1997, and left in 1999. He also did BBC Two's closedown in the early hours of 1st January 1999.

Next night was BBC One's last ever closedown with George French's rendition of the national anthem, courtesy of Jane Westrop, which she closed down BBC One at 3:03am.

Over on BBC Two, Manju Malhi closed down at 2:48am with the Paint Pot ident.

That should've been dated to Friday 7th November 1997!!!

These ident sequences were filmed using special cameras mounted on helicopters using a gyrostabilizer. I don't think today's video drones are capable yet to recreate the scenes.

BBC1 Wales were very lucky because they showed this film at 1:20am. No problem for Welsh viewers.

Back in the days when the world still made sense.

So they were working after 3am then... This is of course just a little joke.

This period was possibly the high water mark for BBC breakfast TV. Right now, it feels like it's run out of a converted office (which it could well be).

The begin of an era.

In 1991, the BBC finally decided to have a "breakfast news summary" to start their Saturday, having the previous 8 years ignored the weekends for any breakfast TV service. This 5 minute summary was really the BBC trying to compete against the weekend news provision of TV-am.

The 1993 original version of the orchestral BBC Business Breakfast theme had more drums in it that the BBC Breakfast News theme for 1993. However a few months later this version of Business Breakfast theme would be toned down with it sounding more like Breakfast News theme, more softer.

That error image, with it's dark and creepy imagery...I feel like the silence is going to be interrupted by Glamrock Monty Gator trying to eat me.

They killed the Cameraman by accident

They obviously had that programme prepared for some time. Anologue eventually found a way of broadcasting digital in 16:10 in a 4:3 frame which worked for the most part, but the documentary itself is in 4:3.
