Parody "You Can't Do That" to Adon Olam Hebrew Lyrics
Adon Olam is a Hebrew song that lends itself to be sung to many different tunes thanks to its meter. Adon Olam is in the meter of iambic tetrameter:
duh-DUH, duh-DUH, duh-DUH, duh-DUH.
In this case, the Hebrew lyrics of Adon Olam were the basis for Rock & Roll parodies. The specific Adon Olam parody was the surprise conclusion of each of the seven Rock & Roll Shabbats at Temple Ashe Sholom, Olympia Fields, IL, led by Rabbi Paul Caplan and The Red Sea Pedestrians, between 2001 & 2005. By participating in the Rock & Roll service, the attendees gave their permission to be filmed. Appropriate for all age groups.

The Tale of the Twin Lines: a story of rekindling creativity

This short video tells the story of Twin Lines. Happy as young Lines, they creatively became triangles, squares and circles. However, once they entered school, they were taught to "stand up straight." Over time, the Lines lost their imagination, until one day at work. They were unable to solve a problem so the Lines took a break from the office. In the cafeteria, they saw a Line in the Box, a c...

The Monarch butterfly WILL lay their eggs on the TOP of milkweed leaves. I live in MN, and unfortunately we have had some of the communicable diseases that kill Monarchs on occasion. I do NOT recommend keeping the caterpillars together. I DO recommend cleaning up with a 10% bleach solution. The video footage of the caterpillar shaking off the shed skin as it transformed into a chrysalis was AWESOME ! ! !

Hi Mary, I understand that our Illinois perennial milkweeds asclepias syriaca (common milkweed) swamp milkweed (a. incarnata and butterfly weed (a. tuberose) will work in your area. Tropical milkweed for sure will grow in your area. Just be sure to cut it off once a year and start a new one. There is a virus called OE that is detrimental to monarchs and multiplies the older the plant is. Cutting the old one and restarting a new one helps with that. Look for a native plant sale in your area. They will give U good advice. Good Luck and thanks for writing. Kay MacNeil

Mary, Thank you for your kind comment. The following recommendation is from Kay MacNeil: I recommend that you stay away from common milkweed (asclepias syriaca) as it is a bit too aggressive for city yards. Butterfly weed (asclepias tuberosa) comes in orange and a bright yellow variety called "Hello Yellow." Another good one is swamp milkweed (asclepias incarnata) which comes in pink and white called "Ice Ballet." Both of these are Not aggressive. You don't say what city you are in, but if it is Chicago, email me at kaymac60423@yahoo.com and I'll help you find some places to buy plants.

23:15 The "working of the mouth parts" is important so they can eat! When a butterfly comes out of the chrysalis, it's proboscis is in two parts instead of one. The butterfly must zip the two pieces together like a zipper! Then it can suck up nectar from beautiful flowers.

I've read that the milkweed beetle is bad for the monarch caterpillars because they kill the caterpillars. Is that not true? I live in Illinois as well, Centralia, and I just started raising Monarchs this year. I love watching the caterpillars change and turn into beautiful Monarchs. I have been collecting the milkweed seed and going to start a milkweed bed in my yard. I have about 3 acres of ground out back that I have dedicated to basically wildlife refuse. I dug a pond and stocked with different fish types, and have planted flowers that the butterflies love as well as the hummingbirds. I have found that the Monarchs here seem to only like the common milkweed plant. I can't get them to eat any other type of milkweed. Why do you think this happens? Thanks for the video. And I'm wondering if you are still heading this program you spoke about. Today my husband and I are going to the Monarch Butterfly Round Up at the Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge where we will be catching and tagging Monarch Butterflies. This will be an awesome experience I think. Keep up the great work Saving The Monarch!!!

No I have not seen that I will check it out. I plan to next year make my own screen house to keep the caterpillars etc in so I dont have any escapees as I did his year when I found a newly hatched Monarch in my craft room on the floor and found the chrysalis under my desk. How it made it there Ill never know. But a caterpillar got out somehow and crawled up there. I was shocked to say the least. lol but thanks for the new info.
