First Hellebores in flower? Do this! | Droopy flowers? | How I protect Agapanthus against frost
It is February. With temperatures below zero during the garden turns into this beautiful frosty landscape. Plants covered with ice crystals, creating beautiful textures. Flowers of the violas and hellebores start dropping, but don't worry, they will be fine.
Now that the first Hellebores start to flower I am going to cut back their leaves and I will also show you how I protect my agapanthus against frost

My garden in August | DAHLIA SPECIAL The garden filled with flowers. Inspiration for 2024
I did not realize that the Hellebores don’t need the previous season leaves to absorb energy to grow! While I watch at the newly 10.1 cm of snow that just fell overnight here in 🇨🇦, I love to see your beautiful garden and hear the birds in your video! it’s unfortunate mice ate some of your seedlings, but thanks for sharing that misfortune as I need to keep that in mind!
Thank you so much 🙏😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it, that means a lot. Hellebores are evergreen, the old leaves can be pruned jan/feb, I usually prune them as soon as the flowers appear. When they have finished flowering new fresh leaves will appear. We do not get snow here often and if we do it is a thin layer that lasts one or two days. Winter is mostly grey and wet.
I like how you made that nice protection for your plants. What colours have your Agapanthus?
Thank you, glad you like it 😊 I have white and blue agapanthus 🌸🌷
Hello, beautiful flowers. We also have night frosts. Greetings from Poland. Aga
Thank you so much and welcome to my channel 🙏🌷🌸 Have a lovely Sunday!
My hellebore flowers have been like yo-yos recently with all the intermittent frosts. At first I was concerned but they do bounce back again. This is very helpful, thank you Linda 😊💖🌱🌸
My pleasure, I'm glad it was helpful 😊🌷🌸 Thank you for your kind comment, it means a lot to me 🙏 It looks a bit scary and sad when the flowers are drooping, but luckily they are quite resilient. Have a lovely Sunday! 🌸🌷
Greetings from malta ❤

Thank you, glad you like them 🙏😊🌷🌼
Beautiful… what is the of your beautiful fern it does so much for the background 👩🌾
Thank you, I'm glad you like it 🙏😊🌼🌷 The fern is Polystichum setiferum 'Herrenhausen'
@@theladygardener tnanks a lot for the answer will try to find it here in sweden to my bulbs display it do a lot 👩🏻🌾
I went to Lowe's yesterday. They didn't have any plants out yet, just fruit trees. Inside they had bulbs and strawberries. I went with the strawberries since most of mine has died out.
Our garden center didn't have many perenials out yet either. Good luck with the strawberries, hope you will get a good harvest this year
I found some snow crocus growing in the wild in the woods. I made several trips and dug some up. I put them in between a crape myrtle bush and a rose bush. These plants don't like full sun over 4 hours a day. The bushes should shade them about right.
Wow Wonderful Blooming Like 232 My friend thank you for good sharing Have a great day ~
Thank you, glad you like it! Have a great day 🌼🌷
I'm so glad its not just me that has to keep rearranging and rearranging until I get it just right! I love the end result - it is very springy and beautiful!
Thank you so much 🙏😊 I'm glad you like it, that means a lot to me 🥰 You're not alone in this, I rarely get it right the first time. Same goes for adding new plants to the garden 😁🌷🌼
I appreciate your authenticity, one of my favourite parts of this video was watching you arrange and rearrange the potted plants until you were happy with the result. Thank you as always. xx
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me 🙏😊 I like to keep it real. I love making an arrangement of pots, but they're rarely at the right spot at the first attempt 😁🌷🌼
@@theladygardener so glad I found your vlog. You are a natural and you do it effortlessly and with style and genuiness. I look forward to more videos from you xx
Ive recently had to move house, and did this with a branch in my last garden.thanks for the reminder to do it again 😊
My pleasure 😊 I love using a branch, it looks so natural and the birds love it too. Goodluck in your new house and garden!
Your new table plant display is simply beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing. Could you, please, tell us what is the name of the ferns you have on that same table?
My pleasure and thanks a lot, I'm glad you like it 🙏🌼 The fern is Polystichum setiferum 'Herrenhausen' I love these ferns because they are evergreen and add interest to the garden all year round
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gorgeous display to welcome spring. Thanks for sharing 🐞🌻🌱
My pleasure, I'm glad you like it 🙏🌼🌷
How do you manage to get rid of the crows, they are very invasive?
There are quite a lot of them, but I can't get rid of them. Usually they're gone in summer.. I do chase them away so every now and then to give the small birds a chance to get to the bird feeder.
Very nice, the ivy, the arrangement, the birds.
Thank you so much, it means a lot to me 🙏😊🌼🌷
Perfect 👌🏻

Me too 😁 plant shopping is the best, I hate shopping for clothes 🤣
Greetings from malta ❤i certainly agree with you about that ❤
@@pancrazioaquilina7029 Greetings from Scotland :)
What a lovely display!❤ And two questions: 1. Do you keep the Muscari- and Daffodil-bulbs after flowering? 2. And do you treat the primulas like annuals or do you plant them later somewhere else in your garden?
Thank you so much, glad you like it 🙏🌼😊 I don't keep the muscari bulbs after flowering, but see them as annuals. I tried to keep them, but the next year they only had a few tiny flowers. With the daffodils I am still experimenting. It depends on the species I think. Some flower the next year, others don't, so I throw those away. Same with tulips, some do well the next year, others don't. I keep the primulas and plant them into the garden, but they do not always survive the attack of slugs and snails 🐌
Композиція на столику дуже весняна.) Сподобалось. Дякую.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it 🙏😊 Have a lovely Sunday 🌷🌼🌷
You always have such lovely birdsong too.
Thank you, I'm glad you like the birds. I'll tell you a secret...they're not always singing when I am filming, I have recorded their sounds in case they don't sing when I film and I add it to the video.
@@theladygardener А я ж думаю: як то пташки співають так дзвінко?))
Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't or there is noise from people chatting or cars in the background that I remove and add previous recorded bird sounds. I prefer bird sounds over music

@@theladygardener good night
Which were your favourite dahlia's and would recommend? Great video as usual. Thank you
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it 🙏😊 My favourite dahlias are Café au lait, Break Out, Garden Jubilee and Mango Maddness. French Cancan performed quite well too, but the colour didn't match with the pink tones I grow in the garden, so I grow that one in a cutflower bed. The tubers of the white dahlia Lady Liberty and orange dahlia Tyrell rot. Not sure if it was my bad luck or if they are not as strong. Wizzard of Oz performed well too, but didn't survive the 2nd year. I did like Jowey Paula, but the growth wasn't as strong as the other ones. I will try some new ones this year again and make a video about it. Hope this helps 🌸🌼
@@theladygardener thank you for the comprehensive information and yes it is very helpful. You have inspired me to try dahlias for the first time and I am going to place an order based on your recommendation. Thank you once again xx

Yes I have to stake most of them, depending on their height, some of them grow quite tall
Hi Yes, thank you for the link. Enjoy your day 💞
My pleasure, have a great evening!
Thank you for sharing this..."Hope Springs". Do you plant your Dahlia's from tubers? How many did you put in each pot? I think those are 5 litre pots? Thank you once again
My pleasure 😊 Yes I grow them from tubers. One tuber in a pot, depending on the size of the tuber I use 3,4 & 5 litre pots. I made a video about it, but make a new one in March when it is time to start potting them on. Here's a link ua-cam.com/video/kLQadN_4rfo/v-deo.html
