    Like it's so annoying to see our designs being used in such an unflattering manner in the name of high fashion. Like please make a v neck with anarkali as its supposed to be. Why the fuck you can't get a flattering cut. What are these loose from random places straight pieces stitched together. 😅

    I want to convey this message here ...that we hold so much power on social media so use it for our good ..start discussion on theses topics and make people aware that these things belong to us and these people are stealing our everything and making their own without giving any credit to us especially India as India is the center of everything. Same they are doing with yoga now they are promoting our invention and knowledge as their own by naming them Christian yoga wtf dude ... please raise your voice they are exploiting our herbs, culture, knowledge, invention without giving proper credit to us .

    Man, as a Bangladeshi, seeing people fight in comment India vs. South Asia, or no, it also Pakistani culture is funny. Like, are you guys serious? It doesn't matter what origin of nation you are from or not right now. What does matter is that our culture, which is celebrated and shared by all of us, is what in many levels, unites a lot of India Pakistani The Nepali Sri Lankan Bangladeshi community is being named to be European fashion, something that came from our forefathers cultural blending and talents. The concern is NOT who it actually belongs to but WHO IT DOESN'T. And idk about it, but we all can definitely agree these designs do NOT belong to European fashion, like you are ALLOWED to BORROW it but give the CREDITSwhen its due. And people stop arguing

    I also realized sometimes a friend that is jealous will say things to try to test if you’ll be jealous too and when you don’t react in the way they want they still project your lack of jealousy as jealousy because you weren’t over the moon happy when they were just telling you the information to try to make you jealous so they tell other people you were the one jealous of them 😭🫠

    Sarees, bindis, jhumkas, maang tikkas, etc. all originate from Hindu religious practices. Part of this conversation is crediting Hinduism for South Asian cultural traditions. Hindu festivals like Deepawali and Onam are being re-labeled as "South Asian cultural festivals" when in reality they're Dharmic. Yoga, pranayama, and Ayurveda are a few more examples of Dharmic religious practices being stripped of their Hindu roots by non-Dharmic South Asians. That's not even including blatant religious symbols like bindis being appropriated.

    I relate to you so much. This is so true: I remember being told to apply ‘glow’ and lovely (ins Allah the company will die soon) and feeling so insecure about my skin colour. I felt so ugly all the time. Girls in the seventh grade used to make me feel ugly and nasty for having darker skin than them :c I’m not comfy in my skin nor in my whole body being overweight. I hope it gets better soon. I find a lot of solace in the fact that we did not come on earth to look pretty but to worship One God. That makes me recenter my focus onto something else other than how ugly I feel.

    First of all stop with the scandinavian shawl pity party. that was a shawl for gods sake to wear over a dress. i think if you carefully look at it you'll see a literal dress underneath and not a kurti with which you pair a dupatta usually ( the shawl worn in the video). and its high time to stop with the cultural appropriation and cultural theft allegations. if you want to gatekeep your clothes dont expose it to the outer world. instead of showing appreciation for incorporating your culture in such a beautiful manner in such big platforms you are just angry that you have not been given due credit. everyone can see that this is influenced by indian designs and even when they look these up they will find it mostly in the indian market. no one is claimimg it for themselves. everyone knows that designs are incorporations of a designer's inspirations from different sources. cultural exchange is inevitable and has been part of our societies since time immemorial and these exchanges are bound to happen as long as you are a part of this planet. saying the west steals from your culture time and time again , you should also be aware that the exchange is mutual. you yourself are wearing clothes that emerged from designers incorporating ideas from sources and cultures. do you or any designer of south asian origins when making or wearing these type of clothes credit every culture it has been influenced from everytime you wear it or make it? the tank top you are wearing underneath has been adapted into your daily life from western cultures that incorporated undergarments like this in their everyday life for ages. you should also be crediting them or are you also just another culture thief. and valentino has earned itself a name for it to get noticed on this scale. he cry about not being appreciated! valentino's designs are exceptionally commendable compared to others and thus deserve more appreciation. wear a manish malhotra garment like the one worn by alia bhatt for the met gala you'll receive tons of praise like she did. now if someone wears a traditional non embellished attire that is for everyday wear why would you be receiving praises for it.

    Btw also Korea beauty standards are affecting now. Bc for us Europeans being under the sun equal aging faster. So for me, just i go to my pool in the late afternoon. Hhh and it’s true u see in Spain people really looking super old bc they love going to the beach at 12 pm. And a lot of skin cancer. Better to accept our skin colour, no matter the shade

  • @thf_
    @thf_ 2 дні тому

    In Europe the beauty standard is: white skin, tall, skinny, big eyes, small nose. But yes, in summer we do like to get tanned. I’m from Spain. Also is easy is Spain to get tanned during summer bc of the weather but after we come back to natural skin color. But I don’t think we have colourism.

    Cultural appropriation at its peak. Its fine if they are using some inspirations, but marking it as "their idea" is problematic. Indian subcontinent has such a rich print/thread/art work. If they are using thise designs, prints, thread work, they should give credits and info about origin and history of these asthetics.

    I'm sorry but I disagree I was a very shy girl at school who gained confidence in college so yes you are true I used to try to be friends with confidend girls at my school and admired them a bit too much but it was never my intention to harm them in fact I wanted to have fun as much as they were having fun... But they never included me they even mistreated me so much I broke any contact with them and treated them coldly thus it might look like as you said but it's thier fault for hurting me.... Anyways now I'm confident and I do understand why they didn't wanted to be woth my boring self so I only seek genuine people now irrespective of the fact that they are introverted or extroverted because now I consider genuinity as the best personality trait instead of confidence/ charisma

    • @maryam_couture
      @maryam_couture 3 дні тому

      Thanks for your comment hun! I’m glad to see your growth✨. There’s a common misconception in the world that confidence = loud & charismatic and shyness = not confident, however they’re not mutually exclusive. You being shy did not make you an insecure person as there are many shy people who are confident as confidence doesn’t always translate to extroverted-ness. Happy & confident people make others feel good as well and they don’t feel the need to tear them down/ make them feel excluded...food for thought 💭 🌟

    The fact you implied that dark-skinned girls are thought of as ugly...kinda makes you part of the problem. And that light-skinned was the gold standard reaffirms this flaw. A better approach should of been taken. Not, don't call these dark-skinned girls ugly. Instead, these girls are beautiful (and proceed to show BOTH dark and light-skinned girls) and not group them into two different categories and pity one and not the other. It's always cringe when a light-skinned girl talks about colorism, as if she knows the pain. The day girls DON'T see shades of brown, is the day when things are better. But I guess in this case FOR YOU, you HAD to show the difference and then play the pity game.

    • @maryam_couture
      @maryam_couture 3 дні тому

      Thanks for sharing your perspective. My video was not about pitying dark-skinned women but about confronting the colourism deeply rooted in South Asian culture where dark-skinned women (and men) are made to feel inferior through the media, ads, movies et. I understand your hesitation about light-skinned women discussing colorism, but I believe using my platform to challenge toxic beauty standards benefits everyone. Ignoring these issues won’t erase them, but addressing them head-on can. Feel free to watch my video Colourism in South Asia: The Toxic Lies About Beauty for more context. My aim is to uplift all women, not divide them✨.

    I'm a south indian from TN and i'm one of the girls who truly didn't give a damn about my skintone during my teenage because i was so poorly treated by so many ppl from like 3 years old, i was always spied on whenever i went to any stores, i was pointed fingers when something went missing during my school days and was beaten up too but as i grew up I've accepted my fate that i will always be looked down no matter what so i had to perform better put extra efforts to be seen, just to receive some respect from ppl. One time my teacher replaced me with a fair girl in a group dance competition when the performance was just about to start and sent me to back row, during all the rehearsals i was made to perform in the front row as i performed well ( the same teacher made me stand on front but later was sent back ) i was excited and prepared my best as that was the first time i went on stage, was so shattered thats when i developed terrible self esteem issues and eventually started seeing myself lower. And that was done by a teacher who is of exact my skintone. I felt so horrible to even look at cute guys even guys who is just one or two shades lighter or even darker made disgusting faces when they happen to stand near me. I'm sure I'm one of the most warmest person whom the world treated the coldest way possible.
