Great video. Enjoyed how you explained everything you did.
Thanks, I appreciate your positive feedback. I’ve had to move house to a new location so haven’t put anything up lately but will do next month Cheers Grandad Jack
When I began my Sn3 layout some years ago I drew a great deal of inspiration from Bill's layout which was featured in the model railroad magzines, and by PBL who produce the Sn3 locos and rolling stock. Only the very best layouts get that kind of treatment and that shows the high regard in the hobby for Bill's work.
Yes he is quite well known. He also drew inspiration from the late Paul Scoles Sn3 layout which was also incredible. I saw his layout in Seattle before he passed away and Paul was also an amazing model railway craftsman as well.
I've been to a handful of events like these. Love those hillside gatherings, not so much the bugs!! 😆
Yeah it’s a buzz ! 😅
@@grandadjack I'll let that joke *fly* just this once! 😭
You could almost open a lock with those boots !!
Hahaha I haven’t worn those either for years Lol
that hat looks great on you!
Why thankyou… thank you very much! 🤠
Alexandra??? Looks like a great day out!!
Yes it was, they have it every year but it’s the first time I’ve been to it!
No dead horse on the Potatoe Twirl......MMMMMM
Nope couldn’t find any ‘tomato sauce’ anywhere?? lol 😂
First? Seeing this put a smile on my face.
Lol 🤠
Beautiful work! SN3/S scale is an ideal size.
Yes it is as the detail stands out 👍
Fantastic
Thankyou 👍
Crikey... Work of Art is an understatement!!!... Thanks so much for the video... Dwight. Glendale, Arizona...USA.👍👍👍
Thanks for your positive comments, it is indeed a work of art! 👍
@@grandadjack My Pleasure...Mate...👍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thankyou for watching! 🤠
I just saw his layout on an American show great story to this guy and his layout
You're use of color is outstanding. You really caught the feel of the Colorado layscape!
He certainly nailed it 👍
sweet
Very artistic this would be my kind of dream railway if i was a model railway maker.
You’ll just need another 30 yrs to build it ! Lol 😂
very nice, great job
Thanks 👍
just awesome!
Hi Dana, yes it is ! I’m a keen model train man and this is pure artistic talent and attention to detail! Hidden in the back shed in the Dandenong’s in Melbourne! Nobody would ever know it’s there!!!! I asked what will become of this when you pass, he said his kids will probably put it in a dumpster! 😐
@@grandadjack oh thats sad! its a bit of art and should be kept and cherished
Should be in a museum and lovingly cared for. Such a treasure is very rare.
I enjoyed watching this.
Cool thanks 👍
My grandson tried to " no more nails " his baby sister to the back door. She though it was hilarious ( anything her brother does is funny to her). His Mum didnt think it was funny. Even less so when I asked her how the boy had managed to get his hands on the glue gun.
Hahaha 🤣
@grandadjack I admired the boys ingenuity. His Mum had told him to see that his baby sister was safe *she was about 12months old. So he must have thought that fixing her to the wall so she couldn't move away was a good idea. So he sees a No More Nails Gun where his parents had left it and .... you know the rest.
I do like the frame but I don’t like the roof shingles.
You can use other material for the roof like colorbond corrugated iron
How many degrees foot slope?
I use 22.5 degrees (half 45*) and that makes a good angle for the legs 🤠
wonderful!
Hey thanks 🙏
Nice job 😊
Thank you 😊
Dear sir, I am sure that you know but some people out there may not but your Bull Dozer is really a Cat 977 track loader.
Indeed it is, in fact it is a cat 977L track loader but converted with a blade for use for logging in the bush.
*PromoSM* 😞
Great work, Grandad Jack!
Thanks 👍
i like ur jokes! oh the shad lands cool. ur boys are both awesome! i started watching jazza years ago
Yes they are the gurus of UA-cam! I’m a novice compared to them Lol 😆
@@grandadjackya well i love watching ur boys they both do an amazing job, i also love watching you cus you are 100% real you are not doing things just to get views you are being you and teaching or sharing with us at the same time! i watch a lot of you tubers and most started out just like you and i loved watching them but then they fell down the rabbit hole of you Tube and started click baiting and doing content that was just not the same as what i come to love and because they where working for YT they had to get stuff out or not get payed and well they got burnt out! sad really! please keep being you and please dont misunderstand what im saying. there is nothing wrong with being a novice and you will keep improving im sure just dont let it ruin who you are just to get content out! Thank you for being YOU!
@@danareed1656 Hey thankyou for your reply! I know exactly what you’re saying. I decided I wouldn’t make money from YT as the requirements for someone like me are just to high so I just do it for the love of sharing what I do and something for my 19 grandkids can look at long after I’m gone! So my aim is just to put a video up at least once a month! Thanks for sharing! 🤠
Granddad jokes just go with the territory. 😁 Your buddy, Bull, has a lot of difference from the one my dad had. We had an old (was told 1945, but I don't think that the model was out in '45) John Deere MC, the crawler version of the MT. No safety cage, really, not anything safety. And they were a 2 cylinder petrol engine, not diesel. The farm, I don't think, had a single level spot, moreso than the Shadlands. There's a reason why Hillsdale County, Michigan, in the US, got it's name. I heard that our farm was at almost the highest point in southern Michigan (about a metre across the property line was supposed to be the highest.) Lots of memories using that old beast! Was a 6 foot blade, but generally got the job done. Moved a LOT of dirt and gravel (the area was mostly gravel and yellow sand, beneath the topsoil. Neighbour had a small gravel pit that was occasionally used for surfacing local roads.) Only thing my dad discovered was that it didn't float.😁 Down in a particularly mucky valley, he tried to take it across mud. Turns out that the mud was barely less liquid than open water... Took a lot of effort and our diesel tractor to get it unstuck. Fortunately a pretty wooded lot, with plenty of old growth to help as leverage.😉 Was what my dad used mainly to dig the walk in basement (with the help of a 1955 Ford C500 dump truck my granddad gave us) for the house he built. Shad certainly has a lovely bit of property! And a great dad helping him! Thanks for sharing this!
Hey thankyou so much for sharing your own experiences! I really appreciate it. I got stuck in a swamp to once and i had to use the winch on the back of the dozer to pull myself out!! The first tree I hooked up to I pulled the tree out! So I had to connect to 3 trees which worked. Again thanks for sharing! 🤠
Awesome stuff, gotta appreciate the level of detail and everything that goes into something like this. Always a sucker for a T class.
Yes Paul is a big T class man ! 😀
Una maravilla de circulación y maqueta. Mi LIKE.🚂🚂
My grandad loved trains and worked on them for a bit. He was a fantastic guy, too. 👍
I’ve loved trains since I was a toddler! It’s a passion that stays a lifetime! 🤠
Grandad Jack That's very cool that you Road the Train 🚂
Thanks, it’s fun to ride them 😃
so cool!
My dad would have loved this. Growing up in the Great Depression, he learnt that, if he wanted something that was harder to come by, he'd have to make it himself. I used to regularly visit Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, in the United States as a kid, and he instilled in me my love of history through things like that. And the required trip on both the steam train and the paddle wheel boat each time. 😁 Thanks ever so much for sharing this!
Hey thankyou Paul for your interest and sharing your story! I appreciate your response! 🤠👍
Oh heavens ... childhood memories of riding a steam train in my local park 😊
Grandad jokes are possibly worse than dad jokes. Otherwise good job in a cold looking location.
Haha yes they are! Cold and muddy ! 🤠
Mr. Tor did an excellent job assisting you on such a big job, sometimes you need a bit of extra muscle! 😂
Indeed, those beams are heavy to lift 4m high 😀 Trac didn’t even flinch! Lol 😆
The dad jokes are strong with this one. 😂 Allowing me to reminisce about the projects I helped my dad with (in the early 1980s. I'm also a grandad.😁) Thanks for the memories!
Absolute pleasure! 🤠
Trac Tor .... Groan . You got me there. I'm expecting some buff Ocker and it's a digger , but not a bloke!
Lol 😆
Looks nice and solid. I love that it doesn't need any wood filler for the screws on top, because there aren't any. Good stuff Jack!
Thanks for you’re positive feedback 👍🤠
Jack: "I only drill the hole until the point of the bit pokes through." Me: "What? Why? That doesn't make any gorram sense! Granddad Jack is a buffoon!" Jack: "I do this because if you go all the way through it will splinter on the other side." Me: "...huh. That makes perfect sense. Granddad Jack is a genius!"
Haha , love your analysis!!!! 🤠
👍
Great, easy, and well thought out. Thank ya!
No probs, thank you for your interest 👍
Id love to give this a go. Do you think it could be made from old pallets ? Erm I know where I can lay my hands on some. Im thinking maybe make a toddler sized table for the smallest grandchild.
Sure give it a go, although pallet material won’t stand up to outdoor weather.
@grandadjack cheers ! I've got a shed that would take the table, but given I've got grandkids, I'm not sure the table would last what's left of the summer !
In estate agent speak those cabins would be put on the market as Bijou, country residences. Small compact and very low maintenance!! ❤❤
Ok cool 👍
Wriggly tin shed !!
Fascinating.
Airflow is important for a cabin, but keeping spiders out is also important XD Glad to see Louvre glass being used.
Nice layout! Great that you brought it back to life. Mike
Thanks still some teething issues but will get it all going soon 👍
