    .68 and 25, where is there more difference, in the first stage or later? Where is switching the most effective? Other tweaks to sculpt the fatness it brings?

    • @groundzeroampworks780
      @groundzeroampworks780 24 дні тому

      @@zabtej1645 more difference in first stage for sure. 25uF is too big typically for a high gain circuit on first stage, but I’ve seen it work. Try 1uF on first stage. It adds more low mid punch over a .68. If you want to tweak the fatness substitute a 5uF or 10uF for the 25uF on V2A.

    Wow that sounds awesome!! I have a very novice question. I was considering getting a Friedman Mini dirty Shirley head but am concerned about getting good tones at bedroom volumes. I know some guys will use attenuators and things like the OX and then play through studio monitors and such. I currently use an unpowered Kemper and play it through a Yamaha THR10 deck top amp, which I found sound way better than studio monitors. It has a flat mode so it doesn’t color the sound much. My question, is it possible to run an amp head like the Freidman through some type of attenuator or audio interface and then have the output to the Yamaha? The kemper is unpowered but then Yamaha is a powder amp. Sorry for this basic question but this all a bit new to me. Before getting into modelers I was always a basic tube combo guy. Thanks 🎸

      @@slashtrio the mini Dirty Shirley can sound great at really low volumes. I don’t think an attenuator is necessary at all with it.

      @@groundzeroampworks780 cool man, what about speaker out options ? I mean I could get the 1x12 cab, which I likely would regardless, but I do like having the option of using even smaller speakers like on the Yamaha THR10. Is there a way to use the THR10 as an output? It’s an amplifier so I know you can’t tun another amp (ie the Shirley) into another amp, but isn’t know if you could use some kind of audio interface to take the signal of the dirty Shirley and then rout it to the Yamaha? Sorry if that makes no sense! I’m not tech about guitar gear. Thanks again

    When you drill holes in the chassis, you remove metal from the chassis and change it's resistance. This slight increase in resistance gives a better ground attachment point and allows the tubes and rectifier to run slightly hotter with less plate voltage. So, the best method of amp modification is to AVOID push/pull pots and drill holes to enhance the ground resistance plate; thus keeping a "tighter" direct current a/c voltage for the transformer and tube sockets. just kidding. Love the channel. How'd I do? DId I sound smart? Did I sound like I really know tube amp circuitry?

It was a 5 gain stage and I placed a 33k cold clipper as the 3rd stage, and the rest were very similar in the cathode structure to the Snorkler Mod. I think I kept most of the coupling values higher than I would on a cathode follower circuit.
