    Dude very nice. Im making my own as well and I've always wondered if steel weight plates would work as flywheels. But i stupidly let a guy on youtube talk me out of it. Mine will ve a good bit more redneck but i ended up using the rear axle off a four wheeler. I put 2 identical sprockets side by side. The flywheels are car wheels with tires on and some rotors welded extra. I made the rack out of 1 1/4 x 3" channel and welded some 3/8 round bar welded on that fit perfect in the dips of the sprockets.

    Man, you split your firewood small. I figure you must have a small woodstove. Or it's kindling.

    You running the tractor off your gasifier? That’d be the ticket.

    Some safety shields over those spinning wheels, could lose a foot

    What did you use for the cutting drum on your chunker?

  • @hk93shooter

    make a self feeding chunker table. put a stop inside the drum for desired length. keep hands away and save your back. otherwise a nice machine. i like it.

    I so wish I had something like this... I have about 8 million 2-3" trees to chunk and it takes an eternity with a saw.

      Have you tried a bandsaw? I use mine for all my limbs that fall. Makes short work of it.

    • @BigIslandLavaPioneers
      @BigIslandLavaPioneers 3 роки тому

      @@jiggity9572 I'm pretty far off the grid and the best I could probably manage is a battery powered miter saw, which definitely works but won't take me far with the immense volume of wood I have. A chipper or chunker that can make quick work (and a useful byproduct) is the only way. 🙂

      Easy piece of angle iron layed on the barrel, lays true to the barrel and guides the plasma cutter, that's how I did it during my gassifier build

    You looking away with your hand still near the cutter was heart stopping, you are already too comfortable with that thing. You are also getting your hand WAY too close, you shaking your hand after letting a piece go tells you that as well. Put a trough up to the cutter, then use a "pusher" to get the pieces in. Better the pusher be chewed than your hand lopped off. You were driven enough to build it this far, go another step or two and keep your hand. Those things don't grow back... My fingertips never did after a catastrophic event....

    you should never lean through the stroke area of the cylinder, that valve can fail, or have debris caught in the seat, not good practice.

    Best designed log splitter I've ever seen. Faster than any hydraulic. I'm very impressed with the rack & pinion actuation and return system. Looks like this can easily be adapted to run with a standalone gas engine.

    interesting idea, if ad a 2' shoot out of 4x4 or 6x6 steel pipe it'll probably help keep your hand safer, less stress on your back also you'll push one piece with the other, if install in a 45 degree angle and 36-42" long it can probably feed itself for a few minutes while you reach for the bottle of water.

    Obvious errors: 1.It is necessary to weld the 1/4 pipe on a bed cleaver 2.Turned 45 or 90 degrees to a shredder insert branches from top to bottom. Otherwise, all is well! :-))
