Sundew (Drosera) Water Propagation via Leaf Cuttings!!
In this brief video, I’ll share how we propagate our sundews via leaf cuttings for our sales stock. This is a very simple method which only requires sphagnum moss, pots, a tray and humidity dome with a light setup.
If you’d like an even simpler method, you can adapt this method by simply placing your leaf cuttings into a jar filled with clear water, covering the top to keep in humidity and placing in a sunny windowsill.
Happy growing!

Hey everyone! The seedlings I started last fall/winter are about 9 months old now so I wanted to do a quick (for me) check in video to show you all how they're doing. As always, let me know if you have any questions or I can help you out in your own seed starting journey!

    At what point is it necessary to start providing nutrients for them? I am using peat moss and distilled water to raise my few-month-old seedlings, and they have a few small pitchers each.

    Thank you so much for the very informative videos. Are there any negatives to let the seeds dry out after stratification? I like this technique as they're much easier to handle when they're not moist.

    Does parts per million still apply with fertilizer or water that has filtered through peat? When measuring ppm in water you’re measuring mineral content in the water which as we all know is bad for carnivorous plants, but tannins and the natural breakdown of organic materials in the media will cause the ppm level to read high.

    why max sea?. whats different between that and miracle gro or generic 16 16 16? Also have you ever dumped a tray of water on your T5s? if so what happened?

    • @TheAndybear06

      Maxsea is a safer more natural fertilizer. Miracle grow of any kind will quickly kill carnivorous plants

    Thank you so much for what you do! I watched your video a few months ago but just got around to getting some seeds. They came in and I got them stratified and planted. Then decided I should probably watch the video again. Lol. Fortunately, your instructions were so thorough and simple that I got it all done correctly. Now to wait patiently for them to germinate. 🙂

    I winter sowed some seeds in a milk jug. The seeds spouted around March of this year. My seedlings are an inch tall now in June. I’m terrified to repot them! But your video shows you’re repointing really tiny plants. Can I just wait a little while longer? I’m really afraid I’m going to kill them at this tiny age?

    Hey, really interesting to see the process. I should have a tonne of my own seeds this year from various crosses, do you recommend to just germinate them in fall, if so once they are baby seedlings, do they need the cooling off period respected? I have a cold greenhouse in the UK

    • @atlantacarnivorousgardens7853
      @atlantacarnivorousgardens7853 2 роки тому

      Hello! Sorry for the delay getting back to you - if you'd like to simplify the process, you can sow your seeds in the fall in the cold greenhouse and they will go through their cool period (stratification) naturally being exposed to the cooler temperatures and should germinate the following Spring!

    Thank you so much for the videos. I had bought some seeds from ETSY (they were various seeds) so I decided to take your advice and also bought some from FlyTrap King. I'm so glad I did, after stratifying the seeds, the seeds from Flytrap King are sprouting, (it is so cool) but the various seeds are molding. All the seeds are under the same dome, so I know the conditions were the same. I don't plant on the same scale that you do, I'm just giving this a test run. I'm in N Ala so our climate is alot like yours. If all goes well, I will order more seeds this summer or fall. Thank you so much for info, if you start selling seeds, please let me know, I like the deep veined ones, so I don't know yet what mine are going to look like.
