just found the video i have 2 of these little gems one of them has all the paper work from the 1st owner got lucky on that very good little diggers
How the throttle works on this tractor? As I understood from the manual you just using a clutch to move or to stop the machine. Is the throttle lockable, so you don't need to hold it depressed all the time? Getting ready to use my new machine, but I'm a newbie to a such kind of equipment. :)
What tires did you use on it? My tires are in a bad shape, would like to find an affordable replacement for them. Thank you for the video.
Hi, the tire size for the tractors is 6.00 - 16 lug tires if you have the older model with the 16-inch rims. There is a seller on eBay Tire Geek sells a pair with tubes for $175 plus shipping. Some of the newer model tractors with the 2-piece frames have 15-in rims. The tires that you see on the tractor with the chains were old truck tires that came from a different tractor. I hope this helps.
Wow thanks for demo
You're welcome, the wheel hoe has been a big timesaver in my garden, and to think that the technology is over 100 years old.
I like your idea of the electrolysis bath. I use a lye bath for stripping paint. I saw the idea in a car restoration book years ago. Its basically a 30 gallon drum with a 240volt heater band that you add about 8 quarts of plumber’s lye. It will get to boiling temperature and you use wire to hang parts on the lip. It will take every bit of paint off, but not rust.
I was wrong about using the saddle to adjust the angle of the plow, Darbradtrac made a comment to me that the bolts on the roller plate were there to adjust the plow angle ,he was right I have been using the wrong adjustment method .
Very nice and doing good work. Brother from another mother
For petes sake, pick up the rocks!
Over the years I have and now I have a pile roughly 4X8X3 feet. The frost keeps bringing them up or else they're having babies.
@@stephenfestus9268 Good to know. It pained me to see those antiques worn down, little by little. I too have a few large piles of rocks. Didnt know the frost brought them up. Thanks for your vids
Where did you find parts
I found all the parts I needed on E-bay.
@@stephenfestus9268 I have a 1975 Horse and I need to rebuild the trainsmission and PTO and replace all the seals.
late summer(aug-sept) of 1975 confirmed
If you have to run on partial choke, try backing out the main carb jet (under the bowl) a 1/4 turn. I have the same tiller, it's a gem.
You need a snow blower attachment
This was built between September and October of 1975
I love craftman everything I own is craftman but now because everything I got is so old they don't make parts for them any more nobody around yo fix them either do slowly ill have to junk craftman find something else
I bought a "used" one for the snow here in West Michigan a couple of years ago. I only use alcohol free fuel in it, runs great, looks good. Starts first pull.
I am sure that some one has mentioned about adjusting the Youk that holds the plow , but I will say it again, RAISE THE LEFT WHEEL ABOUT 3 TO 4" ON SOME BLOCKS AND WITH THE PLOW SITTING ON A LEVEL FLOOR , ADJUST THE YOUK SO THAT THE LAND SIDE IS VERDICAL AND THE BOTTOM IS FLAT ON THE FLOOR, doing this should help to keep the plow following straight behind the tractor. And always use the smallest pully on the motor you can. Water in the tires could help.
To keep the plow from going to the left , you might try this , on a flat surface put the left wheel on a 4" block and adjust the saddle bolts so that the plow sits level with the floor . now the plow should be level when the right is wheel the furrow.
I was just going to say the same thing when I read your recommendation. Well done. The left side surface of the plow should be vertical when the right tire is in the furrow.
Got a lt1000 2000 and it’s got a 46 in blade on it yeah it’s a bit big for her but she still rips
Summary: He had it 5 years. light surface rust - good condition. Added fuel cutoff valve for summer-izing. No air filter. Reliable engine. Paint issues under the intake, but he picks up gravel frequently. Uses A/C extension cord for electric start. Snow removal part might have been year 6. He isn't too used to snow otherwise he would have cleared it off of the cars before clearing the drive of snow. ;) Thanks for the video - I am considering buying one of these.
Would love to get the template for the handle if you are still doing that. Thanks!
Good news Don. I found the pattern for the handles. If you're still interested send me your email, and I can send a pdf of the pattern to you.
@@stephenfestus9268 thank you! That would be great!
I like how you painted the engine to match. I’m doing the same exact thing repowering my troybilt.
Where can you get one
Nice to see a video of one actually plowing with a blade. Finally thanks for sharing
Which way do the tines rotate?
The tiller is forward rotating. Which is the better way to cultivate. Counter rotating tillers can break up virgin earth quicker but are prone to picking up rocks which can damage the internal gears.
How did you get the tine carriers off?
How did you get the time carriers of ?
They were slightly rust welded on. I used penetrating oil that I let sit for a day then an adjustable gear puller. When I replaced it I used lots of grease just in case I had to remove them again.
I have the same old Troy built tiller but mine has like a two piece looking cast wheels. Runs excellent, Kohler 7hp power.
I have a '98 Craftsman GT. A big heavy powerful machine. Way better than the newer riders I've had. Keeping this one for the long run.
That’s a easy fix. A little sanding and painting a new engine and tires. And your good for another 30 or so years.
I just bought a 1980 troy bilt horse. Pretty cool machines don’t build them like that anymore.
You're just too cute I was doing this 15 years ago
Whiskey tango foxtrot!! Remove the cutting deck?? Kids today those try anything!!
How menu quarts of gear oil dose it hold
Valve lash?
My Dad had a David Bradley that had a sickle mower, harrow and plow attachment, nifty, later he got a troy bilt that I use today. He passed in 2021.

I have two horses and I'm curious if you know any trick on the engagement pins the engine moves up and down on. I had trouble on both tiller getting the pins freed up as they were rusted up to being frozen. I am curious if they should be highly polished or even chromed.
Hi Eric, the first one I restored had rust frozen pins. I freed them using a propane torch to get them as hot as possible then spraying WD-40 while it was still hot, and this was able to draw the oil gap around the pin. I then used a rubber hammer to get them to move. The pins are not chrome plated. I cleaned them up with a wire wheel and filled the pits with autobody filler. Sanded them smooth and generous axle grease and have never had a problem since. I hope this helps.
A very comprehensive look at the differences in older & newer frames and feature's. I just finished tearing down my 2nd DB today(917.595 2) with the one piece tube frame.I am looking for the clutch disc if you know a source. I am really enjoying the pursuit. Thx for the upload. You have a nice collection.
Hi again. There are reproduction clutch discs sold on ebay that are made to fit exactly. I once saw where someone made a clutch disk out of a vinyl floor tile. I don't know how long it lasted though. I have one that I bought years ago that was seriously abused. Someday I would like to make a rustification video on getting it working. They're a lot of fun.
You have two traketor mini, brother have moeny for buy traketor
Wood for the reverse what a great idea..Do you have a video on that?? Love these old machines.

Nice
Nice, I bought a used tractor like this.
My top of the cap want go down its for the filter how do you fix it?
The fuel filter?
Dumb question: if you don’t want to weed by tilling can you attach a planet jr toolbar to the Troy Bilt and weed at one pass?
Planet Jr. did have a motorized tool called the Tuffy for just an application. My Troy Bilt tiller is an older model when if the wheels are powered the tines will turn. Later on they had a tiller with a disconnect system where the wheels would move without turning the tines. I have used the tiller for light weeding, but it was like going after a mosquito with a snow shovel. Too much collateral damage. Good idea though.
I have similar one, not bad for around the house
how long did this take you?
Nice Oldsmobile Intrigue, still have it? Do you think the plow will work on a Craftsman T110 mower?
Lovely informative record of a very nice renovation. Well done
I just love these summertime snowblower reviews. can't wait for the wintertime lawn mower reviews!
