Coming back to the series after a few years, these recaps really help, but lack context for the scenes you mention. I remember the series as things happening over the span of, a month, let's say. So many books pace like that. But when this all happens in the span of a few days, the story telling feels so much more realistic and relatable. Your there, right alongside the protagonists.

Btw moon is younger then the dragonets by a few years so Secret Keeper(ironic that her name is Secret Keeper cause she kept a deadly secret)put her egg in the rainforest a few years after not before
