The Dog Got Out! How to Puppy Proof the Chain-Link Fence
Video shows how I strengthened our chainlink fence after our dog got out. We live close to a highway and her safety is a big concern.
There are no gaps between the house or at the fence corners large enough for her to fit through.
There are only two ways that I think she can get out of our locked backyard fence:
1. Jump over the fence. Unlikely, but not impossible.
2. Crawl under the fence. Very likely, considering that the 20 year old fence has a lot of movement at the ground in a couple of places.
When this video was posted, she has not gotten out again.

    I hate these kinds of drains and have no idea how our landlord thought this was a good idea, but thanks to your video I now know how to clean the drain - or just remove the push down part! We have 4 people in our apartment and 3 of them have long hair. You're literally saving me right now cuz I know this thing is just gonna clog like there's no tomorrow. Thank you so much for this video.

    For those who can’t get past step one because their silver top is extremely tight doesn’t come off(mine spun the entire component), I had to hold the “stem” in place with pliers while I twisted the top off counter clockwise. It was a tight squeeze to get my pliers in there so it gripped some of the rubber as well. Not sure if that made a difference. Hope you have better luck with step 2. That isn’t the lug wrench, at least not on my Titanium version. That is the wrench to raise the jack. There’s a separate lug wrench to fit the lug nuts, again, at least on my Titanium model, which has 19” tires. I only wish it fit, because I don’t have the lug wrench!

    • @jefffrantz1893
      @jefffrantz1893 5 місяців тому

      It is both the wrench to raise the jack and the wrench to take off the lug nuts on my ‘14 Fusion. I can’t imagine it would be different on a titanium version…. It is the same on my ‘20 SEL Escape. I rotated the tires with the all of the tools shown in the video.

    • @ffhd1clt
      @ffhd1clt 5 місяців тому

      And I apologize, because I was wrong. Mine is a 2017 Fusion Titanium with 19” tires, and because I couldn’t get the jack wrench to fit my lug nuts, I assumed I was missing the right tool. In the meantime, I read about Ford having an issue with some lug nuts “swelling,” so I went back and tried that jack tool again. It took some serious banging, but I was able to force it on the lug nuts. I had to bang it so hard I did some damage to the tool, but oh well, I had to get the tire off. My neighbor, who has every tool you can imagine, was trying a 19mm deep socket, which I believe should work, but again, the lug nuts are badly swollen. The other thing that threw me are the white plastic “half-rings” attached to the jack. I also assumed that the “missing” lug wrench was supposed to be clipped in those, so I still don’t know what those are for. Again, you were correct. I don’t know if you are aware of the lug nut issue, but if you Google it, there’s a good bit written about it. Thanks for your help!

    Beautiful work but please remove the apostrophe in the names. Not needed unless you’re saying something belongs to them.

    • @jefffrantz1893
      @jefffrantz1893 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching and for the advice! The signs were made to be seen as you approach the home. So the sign is announcing that the home belongs to the Schwendy’s and therefore it should have a plural to their name and be possessive? Without the apostrophe, the sign would say “The Schwendys” which would encourage a misspelling of their name, not knowing if their name ends with an “S” to a visitor of their home. I am not saying about the right way or wrong way, I’m simply saying that was thought regarding whether to include an apostrophe or not when we painted the names on them. Thanks again for watching and starting a conversation!

    • @boucher869
      @boucher869 5 місяців тому

      Well that’s not how name plaques work but it’s whatever works for you. Never intended to start a debate…The convention is not to use apostrophes at all for the names of geographical locations. But there are exceptions (for example, “Martha's Vinyard”). So if your sign is intended to name a location rather than say who the owners of the forest are then you may decide to use, “Smiths Forest”.

      I have not seen a router that has an additional allen screw that needs removed. (Doesn’t mean it does not exist) Do you have a Porter Cable router? If you do, the nut on the end turns the same direction as the router bit to loosen. Put the wrench on the wrench-able part of the shaft closest to the router motor (put the end of the wrench against your workbench, like in the video). Put the other wrench on the nut (the last wrench-able part of the shaft closest to the cutting part, or carbide of the router bit) Keep the end of the wrench that will loosen the nut in the air and press it towards your workbench (making sure to turn the nut same direction the router bit turns) Sometimes, the bit seizes in the router. If this happens, continue to loosen the nut until it frees the bit. Sometimes a little tap of your wrench against the side of the nut will loosen the collet so the bit will slide out. (Be careful not to strike the carbide of the bit because it is brittle and breaks easily) Hope this helps! If not, let me know and I’ll try to help

      Try lifting up on the black rubber gasket while turning the cap that says “push” on it. The mechanism that pushes up and down sometimes rotates and lifting up on the gasket will keep it from turning. The black gasket is what stops the water from going down the drain. Make sure it is clean, not installed upside down, or torn.

      Make sure you are using a wide blade screwdriver so you can get a good grip. If it is plastic like the one in the video, it should come loose.

      @@jefffrantz1893 Absolutely... I saw Punisher and Our flag....HAD to watch!! I'm 46 now but when I was much younger I collected Punisher comic books...gave the whole lot to my niece 3 years ago....she still has them. Told her to keep as long as she can then sell and keep that cash money 🤙

    Can you please tell me what size bits for Porter Cable Model 7301 Type 1 uses? I am in Greece and I am trying to find so I can do some work.

      It looks like you have a laminate trimmer that has a 1/4” collet. It would accept 1/4” shank bits.

    Thanks Bud! Did the trick, and since i’m lazy, I didn’t put the plug back in. Nobody’s taking a bath here, horrible well water. Keeping the drain clean is key to keeping the tub clean.

    Nice! Ive fallen in love with the remote control outlets. I can keep a remote in my pocket and turn on anything in my shop. Is your dust collector newer? I'vee had several HF CM dust collectors over the years, but more recent versions (starting around 2021) have been plagued with motor issues. The most notable, overheating. The portable unit like yours was where I first noticed the issue. After running about 5 minutes, I went to grab it, and my forearm touched the motor housing and it burnt me pretty bad (I still have the scar). I didnt think much about it, and later when using it again, i just checked the temp to see what it was and it was 175°f!!! So, I just assumed i got a bad one, took it back and exchanged it with a new one. This time after a few minutes of no bag/hose running, the housing was at 160f... i ran it another 10 minutes until it hit just over 180f. So i retuned it and just got my money back. (I also spoke with someone at Central Machinery, and they said that the housing for the smaller collector shouldnt be around 120f under load, and never be warmer than 130°f. Since then I purchased their large CM dust collector, and the 30" pedestal fan... BOTH had the same issue. I returned them as well. I then reached out to CM again and sent video to them, and i received the "Thank you, we will look into it." response, and never heard back. (Also, My older CM dust collectors that were used for years, I tested and they never got above 120°f.) So, just keep an eye on the motor housing temp. The last thing you want is saw dust touching internal components that could be upwards of 200°. (If curious, I bought 5 different smaller dust collectors after these issues with the HF CM, and the one I found to be the best (better than the $800 Rockler even) was the WEN DC3474 (With the induction motor.) I hadnt used WEN in over a decade since they left Chicago, and since buying their little dust collector, i purchased several other items, including their 1326 spiral planer, and its already outperformed my Dewalt 735 (which has been plagued with issues as well ... mainly lower quality components for all DeWalts items.)

      A remote would be nice, but this one does not have one. I have not noticed any high temperatures from the motor, but I will keep an eye on it. (Thanks for the heads up) The only change that I made to the dust collector was to remove the plastic screen that keeps wood chunks from getting to the impeller because fluffy saw dust from dados was constantly plugging it up.
