Self Portrait - Cinematic Blender Animation
"Self-Portrait"
is an 100% CGI animated short made by me using tools such as Blender, Marvelous Designer, Iclone 8, Axis Studio, Davinci Resolve and more. The concept might have been a little too ambitious as its quite long and took me around 8 months to complete but I managed to get it done just in time for my 18th birthday. I really wanted to create something that incorporated my love of filmmaking and allowed me to both explore artistic concepts and styles, and practice my lighting, cinematography, editing and sound.
I hope you all enjoy this one and stay tuned for bigger and better things!

Christmas Morning

Never forget the feeling that you get opening up presents on Christmas morning. Animation made in Blender By Approx
Thank you for the tips! I have one question, do you always go for Cycle rendering or Eevee? My pc can't really handle rendering in Cycles so I have to stay with Eevee instead. Although I don't usually go with a realistic look with my render I always wanted to give it a try.
I remember how hard it was to create this effect back in the day. I don't know how I managed it in Blender in its infancy but it was something like this but way more complicated. Thanks for sharing an easy way to do it.
what is the music ?
bro you're dope at this.. also what was the piano music called it's so chill! great selection for a background easy to hear your voice plus it makes you feel calm watching the video
Thanks 🎉
submit for OSCARS
Hey uhh what is that tile name?
This looks like live action fr bro ur so talented.
There is so much talent here, it's overwhelming
For some reason it doesn't work on my project :(( It works nice on blank project but something's wrong with the first steps of making dust on my project Oh lol, I changed keyframe to 1 (because I had on 0) and it's alright

This cinimatic shot how to blender animation please tell me
I go back to this video every time I need to make dust particles in a scene! Great work! Short and to the point! nothing better!
What do I do if the particles are invisible after being selected as the icosphere
Thank you for creating a simple and clear tutorial. My only struggle is with the depth of field-I can't find a way to keep the particles blurred without blurring the rest of the scene. As a result, the particles are not blurry and not fully translucent, which doesn’t look very good.
You can mess around with the depth of field settings but it will only give you things that are realistic, either try messing around with the dust shader (maybe mix some transparency in there) or move some dust closer to the camera so they appear more blurred. Also have a look at some real dust in photos as reference.
@@_Approximated_ thanks for answering 🙏
great tutorial, thanks!
🤍
hey the why is the cube is visible when rendered? it becomes like a low opacity cube
Brilliant and straight to the point! Thank you!!!
Does this still work? Mine still appear all black when i do the last steps
How did you do the clothing movement?? was it thru marvelous designer or blender?
me when am coming from the hospital this is my walking 😊😊....just by the way..... great graphics bro 💪... this video made me sub too. 👌
It doesnt appear in my renders
Amazing!
how long does it take to render something like this dawg
Read description, 8 months
8 months 😭
i was doing diffrent particles but this was very helpful thanks!!
this is amazing bro - i just started understanding blender like 4 months ago after a year or two of drilling myself with tutorials every day... your project is inspiring me to create my own version of this to test my skills and as a way to add my new 3D skills to my portfolio & reel... thanks man
Thank you super clear and fast paced got exactly what I needed
Great video , and explaining what each setting does Thank you❤
Can someone help me, I followed everything step by step, but for some reason, when I render, everything just turns into white image.
This video is waste of time, dont make it if u dont have anything good to share.
nobody agrees with u
keep it up big guy
i can still see the cube in rendered mode though
how do you do the smooth character animations?
5:00
very useful , thanks
This is more real than my life
Yeah I know. I did that on purpose. Your life specificly was part of my mood board!
Great tutorial, why does it sound like you're about to cry all the time
Do I? Haha. Its because of the dust.
you had to have mocapped this right? the charactor movement is amazing. i had to start the video over because i totally was convinced you had comped a real person into the footage for awhile lmao. i really need to get my hands on a suit it really brought everything to life
Yup, it's a really great tool. Definitely worth the investment!
Although this was just a render breakdown it was far more informative than so many tutorials out there. Thanks so much!
Love the lighting
Well done💯💯
I shouldn't've laughed at the "forever" at 0:39 but it was a good use of vocal effects
Exactly what I needed right now. 3 minutes later and I can move on with my project - thanks a lot!
BRO!?? THIS IS INSANEE😭🔥
Absolutely amazing! So beautiful
Itssss Amazzzing bro 🔥🔥🔥 At first I thought The Character is Real... But in the Shopping counter scene, I be like the weight distribution part is kinda CG like and found Its all CG...😅... But The Shot angles and Visual appeal 🙌🏻 Its great looking bro... How much time does it take to make and Render 👀 tell both the times separately 😂
this tutorial is lovely and really helps my renders not look as artificial as they normally do, thank you for bestowing this world with your amazing tutorial.
