Say no to fiberglass hood scoops by making them in steel
Переглядів 9 тис.3 місяці тому
On this episode we make and talk about how to go about making a reverse cowl. I start with making hood scoop sides to have a main shape to shape to and can visually see how it will look. Than we shape the Center section to that and make a factory original Center style line, all using the new big power hammer and all fitted and welded together.

Blocking out a panel lancia zagato part 2
Love your work mate, I'm from Northern NSW and Ive been trying to make one of these scoops for a HK Holden but can't get the right shape for the centre section, do you put any form in the panel first before you start shaping in the power hammer or do you leave it in a flat state and did you have to curve the front of the scoop over the oxy bottle to after you put the centre line in it? any advice would be much appreciated. cheers.
Obra de arte.
a chevy cowl induction hoodscoop ! very cool job. can you build one for my 73 caprice ?
Impressive!

Nice cowl induction
nice! you never disappoint.
Thank you. And thanks for the feedback back
Another great video Ryan, any tips on making an hq monaro door skin? I will be looking at making 2 new skins for my project restoration car at some point, just wondering how you would go about putting the tapered body line in through the middle of the door? Cheers Craig.
Thanks Craig. I would template it and probs do the center fold first. Than bend the other tapered section back over some tube on a taper and I would fine tune the line with a curved slap hammer.
Nice concise work. With no overworking of the panel. A joy to watch. Ho and well done on a left and right panel I know how easy it is to make two left side 😁. Don’t ask how I know. Great work 👍 Bob.
Thank you. lol I have made 2 of the same side on a patch panel before so you’re not the only one.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching

What are the mats you put down on your bench top when laying out the alloy? Edit I should have waited till the end of the video to ask stupid questions
Thanks for the question anyway. But yeah just a Bunnings Mat and 2 of them happened to fit my bench perfectly.
@@Resurrected_metalshaping yeah I have two 1200x1200 3d welding benches yours is 2400x1200 by the looks so that would be perfect I do a lot of alloy stuff for boats but 5052 isn't available with plastic locally and when you get the supplier to apply its always a disaster so I spend so much time trying not to scratch it or just orbital sanding everything
Pure win.
Excellent video with great explanations, really nice work. Looking forward to more.
Thank you. Plenty more to come
