Great video. I have a few questions 1.Does the federal government assist with relocation to another peovince if the position is in another province from where you reside? Do they take care of the expenses and do they help with finding accommodation? 2. I see jobs saying Permanent (indeterminate). Does this mean one is permanent? 3. When you say generous benefits, are the benefits good? How much does the employer pay/cover in case you know? 4. Would you recommend to negotiate ones starting salary and when? Sorry for too many questions. Hope to read the response

As a hiring manager, I just have to say I love what you're doing and how you show things in bullet form. I can't tell you how many people will tank an interview as they've written a 'script' and they're unable to deviate from the script. We'll ask probing questions and if a candidate is following a script, it completely throws them. Bullets, as you've used, are great as it reminds you what you want to talk about. Great job here (kudos for using a BC Gov competency example! 🙂)

I just copy my resume in the box and the formatting disappears anyway. Then I make some edits and remove any bullet points. Is that readable by the system? The green check is there so assuming it should be ok.

If they ask if I have any questions after they've asked the questions they gave me beforehand, it would be bad not to have any questions for them as it would be in an interview for a private company? At the point they asked if I had any questions, it felt like the interview was over, they even told me I could "relax now, the worst part is over". That got me thinking if asking questions is that much important in government job interviews too. What do you think? And what kind of questions should I ask in this case?

Hi, thanks for these insightful videos! I have a question. I have an in person interview coming up, that will be testing competencies that were listed on the job description (the competencies being tested have been outlined in the email regarding the interview). It has a 30 minute prep time. I'm just wondering what you think the odds are that the questions will be listed with the competency that is being tested. For example, (and I'm just making this up) -'Adaptability: What do you do when faced with an unexpected obstacle in a project?' I'm asking because I find some interview questions can be a bit ambiguous in terms of which competency they are testing for so I worry about giving them an answer that isn't covering what they are looking for.

I've applied for a G job and passed the written exam. Then I got interviewed last month. They asked for my referees for reference check at the time of interview. But till now I'm waiting to hear back from them. In my Job status it shows "Your application has been retained. You will be contacted directly if you are to be assessed further". What does it mean? Is it still under the assessment process or I'm not selected? If it is under process how long it may take?
