Should Disney Start An Airline?
Disney attracts tens of millions of guests each year to its parks in Florida alone. Most of these out-of-town guests arrive into Orlando International Airport (MCO) on one of 35+ airlines - none of which are owned by or affiliated with Disney itself. Disney has a long history of partnering with airlines to drive more traffic into the parks - starting with Eastern & Delta in the early days, then Alaska, Westjet, China Eastern and JAL more recently - but the Company has never operated its own flights. This was an intentional decision, as the airline business has long been associated with harsh competition, low CSAT scores and slim profits. However, that doesn't mean there wouldn't be upsides - especially for a brand like Disney that has a massive cult-like following and would ostensibly have more pricing power than other airlines. As such, in this video, we'll explore why Disney Airlines might not be such a terrible idea.

Is United Stealing Delta's Cheese?
Переглядів 37 тис.21 день тому
Who is the most "premium" of the US big three air carriers? Right now, I think many would agree it's Delta, not only for their hard product but also for their consistently good service. But over the past 3 years, Chicago-based United Airlines has been on a bit of a roll, upgrading its planes, lounges and technology to drive revenue premium and brand value. In this video we explore how United is...

Not sure if it would be logistically possible or even legal but theoretically they could collect their cruise passengers from the plane on Disney busses, take them through a dedicated secure immigration check, then drive them straight to the terminal and give them a dedicated entrance that allows them to bypass security since they wouldn’t have been out of a secure area since leaving their origin airport. Regardless it would be the ultimate step in making a magical baggage experience: check your bag in at your origin airport and it will be at your hotel that evening. They could probably offer a service similar to what Emirates offers where you can check your luggage in from home.

I work at MRY for Allegiant! So for some extra fun facts for ya about our little airport Gates 1-3 are American only, and Gates 4 and 5 are United and Alaska, and Allegiant takes either 4 or 5 depending on which one os free when we fly (We only fly on Monday and Friday) The airport has a second floor with an AMAZING restaurant, Woody’s. Owned and operated by the same guy that runs the cafe down at the gates. The American crew is a lot of really cool people and a lot of us try to get along. There is some drama and people that try to stir the shit but we all try to be friendly. Because of how small the airport is, everyone that works here, no matter what airline, is trained inside and outside so if any gaps appear it can be filled. And right now they are building a new Terminal on the opposite side of the runways. That terminal will become the new main one, and from what I heard they are deciding on whether to move Monterey Jet Center to take over the old Terminal, or just demolish it. My money is giving it to Jet Center. And finally, Del Monte Aviation actually does more than just private jet stuff. They are the Fueler and general maintenance teams for all of the airlines here. Really cool dudes over there.

United has definitely improved. The cabins on the max are great. Then you’ll connect to a 20 year old Continental cabin. They need more consistency. Also, their hubs are way more inefficient and miserable to connect through. EWR is improving and DEN is still good but ORD and IAD are nightmares. Especially ORD. Compare that to connecting on Delta in ATL. ORD has hour long taxi times while you take a tour of the airport and see your connecting flight take off from your window seat and then you’re spit out into an old and a bit rundown terminal. United’s staff has been far away more friendly and helpful than delta when dealing with issues lately.

It’ll never happen…the airline industry is incredibly volatile, always has been, super high costs, small profit margins, there’s a reason why hundreds of airlines have gone bankrupt since the Deregulation Act of 1978. Every once in a blue moon the industry will get a very prolific entrepreneur like David Neeleman who have a long track record of founding successful airlines which stayed in business (he founded JetBlue, Breeze, WestJet and Azul Brazil, as well as Morris Air, which was the first to introduce e-tickets, that airline was sold to Southwest for that technology). But without someone like him, Disney will never take that risky of a gamble.

I don't know, lovely idea, but to mix family fun and characters with the stressful environment that is domestic US air travel, sounds like it could annoying pretty damn quick. I think they could dellve back into airline partnerships and offer special disney-themed flights to/from Orlando, much like EVA has done with their Hello Kitty flights. It would be very difficult given how huge the domestic scene is in the states, that disney-themed plane might need to be deployed elsewhere at short notice, but its worth a shot.

Partnering with a breeze or avelo first maybe the best way before completing becoming Disney Air maybe the easiest route. I believe breeze has a SNA-MCO flight. The target customer would have to be the Disney fan/group that would want to package everything together, especially if they're not already loyal to an airline. PS: if Disney were to partner/take over an existing airline, I'd imagine they could leave the existing team to run the airline which would leave Disney to handle the marketing.
