    Hello Satchan, I have noticed that you often use sugar when you cook , even with meat . That’s so strange for me ...I never , absolutely never use sugar when I cook except if I cook a cake . I have had a bag of sugar for 3 years now and it’s not even half empty . Food is so different from country to country...good evening 😊

      Hi, thank you for watching✨As you say, the food culture is completely different, and I recognize that Japan is a country that uses a lot of sugar.Eating too much salt is bad, but eating too much sugar is also bad.haha

    Super interesting and looks delicious as always. I wonder, when you plate the foods, there is often some leftovers. What do you do with them, do you use as lunch, or in another meal? I would be interested to see how you use them.

    Hello Satchan , here we eat lots of potatoes ( and very little rice ) and we are taught that potatoes don't go into the fridge ..,cold is bad for them . And they also don't need to stay in water before cooking , they can if they need to wait before you are ready to cook . Différent countries , different habits ... funny isn't it ?

    • @satchanjapan
      @satchanjapan 25 днів тому

      Hi,Thank you for watching😊Actually, even in Japan, it is said that it is not a good idea to store potatoes in the fridge.😅The reason why potatoes are placed in water is to prevent discoloration and remove the scum.

    You can buy various gadgets that julienne carrots and other firm vegetables such as parsnip, radish, zucchini. Or a spiralizer that cuts spaghetti-thick strands. I'm not comfortable cutting anything thinly for fear of slipping.

    What is salted rice molt?

    • @satchanjapan
      @satchanjapan Місяць тому

      Saited rice molt is called Shio-koji in Japan and It's a japanese traditional ingredient. It's a fermented mixture of water and salt and "koji". Koji itself is malted rice or beans covered with koji mold. This makes every dish so good.

    • @satchanjapan
      @satchanjapan Місяць тому

      I haven't found anything that can be used as a substitute, but firm tofu might be close. However, if you want to add tofu, you will need to drain the water thoroughly and add potato starch etc. to adjust the firmness.

    Hello , it is interesting'to look at your table with lots of bowl with food . Here we never use bowl except maybe for coffee or tea for breakfast . On the table we use plates , large ones for the main dish in which we put fish and vegetables and rice , then a smaller one for salad, if at a posh restaurant you'll have a smaller one for bread too . And of course we are useless with chopsticks 😅, we need a fork and a knife . 😊

      Hi , thank you for watching✨In Japan, of course, some families serve food on a large platter, just like in your country. However, there is also a Japanese culture of serving food in small bowls like this.😊But, it takes time to serve the food in small bowls, so I sometimes serve it on a large plate.🤣
