This camera is not one to come up on the used market often, i have been looking for one for a while, second i set all my cameras to the natural color profile, the reason is that I photograph so many different subjects and I can post process the files to my liking depending on the subject that I am photographing and the look I want to achieve, if I'm going to print the photo i can adjust the file to the type of paper i will use to make my print.

Great video well said about everything. I have a question which you forgot to mention. Does the crown have a ghosting date position? I have read somewhere that they are using the ETA with the date without putting a date window on the dial.

Well im going to get the black as dials are supposed to be easier to read in low light? When the silver finish wears off doesnt it give the camera a tacky look?

It does fit you well - i think bc of its vintage styling, large dial (as opposed to if it was a dive style watch). It does look classic

Good review, but if you are not obsessed with the brand, there is Berny, which has the same design at a much lower price level and has a premium level mechanism such as sapphire lens and Miyota 9015.

This is the one I chose also. I got a pretty good deal at Joma. If you're not against homages/copages also check out the 9-DAO Engineer. That watch is also available with MOP dials, and it looks less "homagey" with those. Even the PT5000 movement is nicer than the movement in the PRX automatics, and you can replace it with an SW200-1 or 2824-2 if you ever wanted to (e.g. when it's time for service eventually). Also, I agree the size is slightly too big on the PRX 40 and they should have gone with 38mm or 39mm. I think I'll be moving my PRX on. Darned nice bracelet for the $ though!

Nice review mate and a great comparison with the Junghans! I also bought one 6 months ago and the screw holding the spring barrel assembly came loose and it stopped winding. Easy fix but haven't worn it much after that fiasco (google 34mm marlin california reddit) If I were to go back in time, I would definitely save up and go for the Junghans with it's Sellita movement which any watchmaker can fix unlike this Timex which no watchmaker wants to touch.

My watch arrived today and although it is technically a grey dial it has a brown tint to it that is not visible in pictures.

I did ramble a bit in this video i think… it was just one take :) I do have one comment though regarding people wearing more watches regulary. What i meant to say is that, i would have preffered the waterrating to be a bit higher, since i think it would have made it more utillitarian. :)

i was hoping this video finally can help me with my choice. But it made it harder! Hahaha. I preordered the Silver because you know, retro. Reminds me of my Zeiss Ikon and Nikon FM2. But, I also used to have an Leica M8. And its in black. And it's the coolest piece of gear Ive ever own or will ever own. And watching your video, makes me miss the black aesthetics. Now i am not sure!

Design wise, Seiko is on top of the watch game. I've never owned one since they are harder to source and service in Europe but this SARX and the SJE Alpinist model both peak my interest (as well as both having controversial date windows 😂). Having made a no-date Alpinist Seiko mod I can attest that the inclusion of a date window only elevates the tooltastic nature of such pieces combining form with function. And at the end isn't that why we buy Seikos in the first place??

I had x100f in black.. The paint on shutter was wearing off.. I hated that until I think on hand sand it.. Unfortunally I lost the camera.. And now I order 100vi in silver. One positive thing was that small printed speed numbers were easier to see on black for a +40 years old guy without wearing glasses and the back seems all metal instead of silver that you can see plastic black display frame.. Still would go with silver this time.

I love Panasonic. I still have my '2011 32" LCD TV, and some other household products, a cordless phone etc.. never had a single issue with any of those. They are so overlooked because they are not hyped up like the other brands, but man they make some great cameras. My first ever camera was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8. I am a Nikon shooter nowadays but now looking for a point-and-shoot, and the GX9 seems to tick all the boxes.

There’s nothing wrong with the movement. It’s fine. It works and it’s serviceable - what more do you need in a simple dress watch?

My choice is the quality of an image. I could give a shit if the camera looks like a two thousand dollar Vagas whore or a pile of Dog-shit, the bottom line is how long a person stands in front of my work hanging on a wall. Grins

I have both and will add duplicates to my collection. Comfortable on the wrist and extremely versatile with straps. Perfect color, and timeless. I will pass em down to my boys when they mature enough for such a beautiful timeless watch.

I have the yellow gold one and I can't seem to take it off. Nothing fits better than these traditional sized watches. They slide under any cuff and don't impede movement. What guys fail to realize is that if you are wearing bigger watches with a smaller wrist all it does is make your wrist look scrawny. This is the most sophisticated affordable watch for the money IMHO ✌🏽
