i agree they're too light even on fender players. i got some dye or stain from crimson guitars in england and i also went too dark on my project it needs watering down a lot .

Thanks. in 18 years I never had a valve leak until the other day. An older Orbit valve won’t stop allowing water to pass. Thought solenoid was bad but new one did not solve problem. Now thinking the diaphragm is either dirty or worn. This video makes all the difference it understanding how such a small hole functions to handle high pressure and greater volume of water. Going to reinspect the internals before throwing more parts at the problem! Thanks again.

THANK YOU.! ! ! ! ! A GREAT help. Why should a piece of foram cost $150 ? The old appliances were built to last 15-20 years and did so. The stuff today is designed to throw away after 10 years if you are lucky. My FRIGIDAIRE side by side lasted one year and three months and then the damper went out. Repair person said it MIGHT be the damper or it MIGHT be the thermistor. No way to really test it. So buy both. I am from the old school (82 yo) of fix it don't replace it unless absolutely necessary. THUS boy have we got an insurance policy you need. Thank you again and best of luck.

Just encountered this problem after the 5yo refrigerator was off during a power failure. The foam must be a little 'crisper' when cold/frozen. The actual problem is that the door can't close tight enough for the mechanism to transition to open. The hesitation is the door trying to close and bouncing back.

this is exactly what i want to do - the problem is here in the uk, anything like dye, lacquer etc costs a small fortune. gonna have to bite the bullet

1955 here Most of this is 100% true for me.. We had TWO TV channels for years, I remember having one phone, but we didn't have a party line. The thing was we didn't know anything different. Improvements came slowly. I started delivering papers by 5 am. I kept my route through high school and by the time I quit it was so bad I was often late to school. Sewage went straight to the rivers until the 1970s. Laundry turned yellow on the line. AM radio was tons of fun to listen to. There was a lot of negatives as mentioned in the vid, but I remember those days fondly. Kids could roam freely, too, without fear of being molested or shot. Got into fist fights, though. I still love B&W photography, TV and movies.

The damper on my old Amana fridge is not electric, it has no wires and the thermostat is integrated into it. There is a push rod coming out of the thermostat that pushes the spring loaded door open when it becomes warm. The fridge got too warm and I saw the damper was closed with the knob at max cool. There was an adjustment screw on the bottom and I turned it until the door opened slightly. Now the fridge is a little too cold. I'm curious if anyone knows about adjusting these and if it's just trial and error. The replacement is no longer available, part # R0161050 made by Whirlpool if anyone is curious and want to see what it looks like.

I ordered the damper assembly then saw your video. I tested with my home-made AC cable as you suggested and found that it stuck shut. My wife used a blade, surgical tweezers, and a Dremel tool to trim the edges of the Styrofoam to allow for a more complete closure. Now it tested OK. We replaced it and it is working perfectly with no parts required! I can cancel the order.

I'll join the legion of others. This totally worked, and you also saced me money. I'm actually a gas service tech and have always been a strong believer in fixing the part, instead of replacing it.

I replaced the entire damper assembly on my fridge and it is still not working. What Now

This isn't the first video I've seen of this, but a good illustration of what is done, and also the safety precautions. I almost purchased the Easy Flux Titanium at $20 off last week for $129, but waited. I had my Amazon cart up to $98 just to do the conversion.....overkill.....lugs, crimping tool, 4 gauge wire, $23 rectifier etc..... This can get me there without all of that. But I really like the demonstrations of that Titanium DC welder.....strong welds! Thanks!

At around the 2 minute mark, the guy says 3.5 inch pvc has an outside diameter of 3.5 inches. I think he meant to say 3 inch pvc has an outside diameter of 3.5 inches.

Absolutely worked! Amazing. Please note, YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE EVERYTHING APART! Now that we know it is the foam, take the control unit off and simply remove the damper door. There are 2 small hinges - use a flat screwdriver to punch one out and slide the door out. Cut 2mm of foam to be flush with the plastic edge. Score foam where the damper meets the other side plastic (use the cut foam as a template). Put back in by sliding along the path already cut into the plastic housing. Worked like a charm! Thank you again for figuring it out!

This is what you tube was meant for! You just saved me over a 100 bucks. Thank you for pointing out such an easy and simple solution. My gears are also in perfect condition and the motor works just fine. Funny how just a mm of a difference can throw a mechanical piece off course. Makes you wonder how many perfectly working dampers have been replaced over the years just because of the foam. What a racket!

Do you have a reference on how to get into or use the service test mode? I have two of these fridges and have been chasing down problems including poor defrost drain design damaging my floor/trim, fridge not cooling, weird grunting noises, etc.

Great video thanks for sharing. I could not figure out why mine was staying shut so I wedged a plastic tuning I cut to keep the door from shutting closed. It now gets cold but may have to tape half the damper shut to avoid freezing the food in the fridge. 😂

So true on the 3" lineset cover. The struggle to get it to fit is not worth the slight cost savings. Def go up a size on the cover.

I simply adjust the bracket that holds the safety prime to the right angle . Loosen the bolt holding the bracket and move the bracket in small increments until it feeds correctly .

I have watched several videos about my side by side fridigare, which looks like yours. And, most of the videos helped me to start the diagnosis by testing all the possible causes. Honestly, it was kind of fun until I thought it was fixed. Once I pulled the damper and realized it was actually the cause of the fridge getting warm, I took it apart but found nothing obviously cause the damper to stay closed. I searched the web and the title of your video caught my eye. You explained stuff so even I could follow. I tested just like you showed except without the alligator clips. After I trimmed the foam, I was so excited to see if mine would also work. OMG IT WORKS. I got so excited I forgot that I had live wires in my fingers. The crack scared my wife and dogs but I didn't care. You saved me enough money that I can put extra gas in my bike lol. Sorry its such a long story. From Columbus Ohio I thank you very very whole bunches!

You are THE MAN. Wish i could throw you a few bucks to thank you. I have a Crosley Conservator which is a rebadged Frigidaire side by side like yours. I heard that weird noise and thought a dog was barking next door but realized finally it was the fridge. Then the beeping and the flashing HI. Took it apart, shaved the foam, reassembeled, and we appear to be golden. Amazing and THANKS!!!

When input is from the bottom, does it matter which side is the output?

Sir, thank you very much for sharing your experience with this tool and how to put it back. I’ve had this Lee system for a while, and as you point out, it has never worked really well. I watched your video and decided to make the change you indicate. Miracle, it works perfectly, I just recharged a hundred cartridges of 38 special and no incident or primer that falls. Simple, fast and easy to do, super effective modification, thank you very much for sharing. This tool was stored for 3 years... it will relive.

If you wanted to darken rosewood a little, could you just skip the tape and do the whole thing in one swoop?

Primers are certainly too expensive nowadays to be chucking them on the floor!

Born in 1958. Are you trying to tell me I was suffering my whole childhood and didn't even know it? The thing I remember is for the price of a small bag of popcorn at a modern movie theater a family of 4 could each purchase a large bag of popcorn plus a ticket to a double feature. The movies back then were 10 times better than the Woke cr@p they force down your throat today, and you didn't have to sit through an hour of advertising, the sound system didn't blow out your eardrums either. We might have only had a maximum of 3 TV stations but the total amount of quality content available was exactly the same as right before I cut the cable 10 years ago when there were over 100 channels. We weren't bombarded with fake man made climate emergencies, fake feminist patriarchy theory, misinformation and disinformation. Social media didn't exist and we had genuine right to privacy. We didn't have Covid lockdowns and vaccines that made us sicker than the disease itself back then. When driving at night you could literally see through the next 10 cars inline ahead of you, the windows were vertical front and back and even the pickup truck windows were same height, didn't matter the vehicle model. You forgot to mention all gasoline contained Lead.
