    Why can't people just leave animals alone? He doesn't need "dispatched" , I own cattle and chickens and deal with nuisance animals all the time, but I consider it part of the business. I don't "dispatch" them for doing what nature tells them to do. I take precautions, but I never harm anything. The wild pigs I understand. But not a beautiful creature like that.

    • @trappingspots
      @trappingspots 2 місяці тому

      I harvest the animals I want to take and let go the ones that are young and some females…I don’t kill to kill. Most of the animal is used. Animals are a green renewable resource…I won’t even get into the wildlife management part…the ones I take are not nuisance animals..doesn’t matter: pigs, coyotes, skunks, bobcats…. The worst things that we can do to animals is failed to manage them in this day and age. But the fact that you say you don’t harm anything is baloney. Everything we do from drinking coffee, going to work driving our car affects wildlife in someway down the line. And if you truly raise cows and chickens the bobcat is no different. A cow is a beautiful creature along with all the others and you’ll slaughter it and eat it. You’re doing the same thing I am.

      @@trappingspotsI didn't know the animal was actually being used , so forgive me. I was under the impression it was for trophy only, which is a different ballgame entirely. Yes I do live on a farm and also lease other properties for rotation purposes. Used to deal with pigs and hogs but they weren't worth the hassle and stink, so we got rid of them. I just have a love of animals, almost to a fault. But I agree with your explanation, which you didn't owe me. Take care

    I live in a residential neighborhood in Florida, so I occasionally see bobcats on my Ring cameras. I think they are cute, and I love to see them when they do appear, but I know they are nuisance animals in other places and need to be dispatched.

      And I appreciate your point of view because I agree with it. I definitely do not want to kill them all I love seeing them in the wild and not just catching and dispatching. Some populations need to be controlled to overpopulation which causes disease, distemper, etc.. and I also like just to take pictures and release as well. It’s a part of being in the outdoors.

    A few years ago this happened to me. I had a trap out (with no bait) to try and catch ground hogs. I looked out the window in the pouring rain and saw something in the trap. I waited till the next day and saw a skunk. I threw an old blanket over it and put plastic bags around and loaded it on a garden cart. I wheeled it 500 feet the back of the yard bouncing along. I unwrapped one end and opened the trap and a skunk ran out. The trap was heavy since the bottom was covered in mud so I wheeled it back to the house to hose the mud off. I got the hose and pulled the blanket off and a second skunk was staring at me! I put the cover back on and wheeled him to the back. Two skunks in the same cage and both of them didn't spray me!

    This is my first year trapping in Arizona. How long do you generally leave a lineout? I started putting mine out in desert areas in Arizona November 10th. I only have 8 traps and have rotated them to different areas after about 5 or 6 days. I also had one other question. I oftentimes see you setting traps out fairly close to well-traveled roads. How close are those roads to town? Or are they out in the sticks?

    • @trappingspots
      @trappingspots 5 місяців тому

      I leave my line out for about 11 days. That gives me a couple days to get all of them out and then a couple days to pick them up wash them and get ready for the next line. They say cats may not come back through an area for at least 14 days. I run about 30-40 cages typically. I have developed these lines over many years…yes some traps are off highways and traveled roads and some way out… cats will hang out near urban areas as much as in the wilderness… just make sure you follow all regulations and you’ll be good
