Where Will The Brisbane 2032 Swimming Competition Be Held?
Where will the Swimming event be held during the Brisbane 2032 Games?
Will it be in the Brisbane Live arena, as initially planned? Or out at the Sleeman Sports Centre aka Chandler, Brisbane's 'premier' swimming complex. Could we drop in a pool at Suncorp Stadium, the Centenary Pool in Spring Hill, the Newmarket Pool or maybe we get all the swimmers to dive into the Brisbane River and dodge all the bull sharks living in there as they race up the lanes?
Ariarne Titmus, Mollie O’Callaghan, and Kaylee McKeown are all Queenslanders who have now won gold for Australia. The female 4x 100m relay featuring three Queenslanders has also won gold. Elijah Winnington has won silver, and the men’s 4 by 200 metre relay team features two Queenslanders has also won silver.
Australia’s water polo team is exceeding expectations and the triathlons look to be going ahead.
Queensland has produced far more swimming champions than any other state and because of that, I believe that we should be know as the "The Home of Australian Swimming," And we need a world class aquatic centre to be able to keep producing those champions.
With Brisbane’s Games only 8 years away, now is a great time to be considering our options for swimming when the world’s eyes turn to us. So what kind of legacy would we like to leave our swimmers after our Games has ended?
I'm Mel Pikos and today, we're talking tactics.

I wonder how different things would be if Clem7 was a traffic and busway tunnel and the bus way beside the rail corridor between South Bank and Roma Street stations was an all rail corridor.

More needs to be spent especially in the area of long range precision fires to be able to project strike capability and also the capability of building the missile systems in Australia. We also need to move our strategic fuel reserves to Australia as well as a national fuel production onshore.. Having all our fuels being refined offshore is a strategic failure point

Within the first 30 seconds, the concept design has a suicide lane for cyclists sandwiched between buses and cars. None of the current tunnel tollway projects have lived up to their hype and actually reduced traffic on surface-level corridors. Why do we keep doing things that are proven not to work, both here are in cities elsewhere?

So let’s build that big bright stadium and pool and fuck the rest of Australia. Any thing for a few fun weeks and too show the world what a wonderful, fair place we live in.

If we are only to have a battalions worth one could opt for them to go to RAAC, simular to the old APC regts, so that infantry battalions can rotate through. But, I hope that additional contract to be put out for an additional battalions worth. if we only have a battalion worth this would only allow for a combat team to be deployed. Remember that by December we will only have two cavalry regiments and four infantry battalions (you can't count 2 RAR & 5/7RAR as a standard infantry battalions, being undersized Littoral units). No body can tell me how many tanks 2 CAV will get????

Stadium venue is best ao you can get capacity nearer 30,000 (similar to what Sofi will be) with a temporary stand. Builidng a permanent 15,000 seater is a waste - will never fill. Sydney 2000 was 17,000 but reduced to under 5,000 post games

This would be a great addition to the Southbank Precinct. I know there is high value in green space but Southbank is lacking any drawcards to the Southern end. Having a world-class swim centre as an anchor would allow greater activation of the Southern end, especially as Southbank starts to compete with the new Queen's Wharf Precinct. Additionally it would connect Southbank in a more meaningful way through the Goodwill Bridge to QUT and the Botanical Garden. Would encourage a greater level of participation from students at QUT to further utilisation. But wait, there's more! Tim Sure also says that if done correctly, it could make the high-density towers along Lower River Terrace connect more meaningful to Southbank, provide a safer route for active transport users, and keep them away from the hustle and bustle of Vulture Street. While we are there we could also connect Queensland Children's Hospital and Graham Street via pedestrian bridges. Removing the need to cross Vulture Street and connecting smaller sports complexes (Sommerville Aquatic House, South Bank Netball and St Laurence's College Sports Grounds) will allow these venues to be more easily accessed and utilised for other competitive events, giving inner-city Brisbane a decent sports complex. O can a boy dream....

Ok, let's get serious, unless we want to be a laughing stock (after Paris) we need Mt Cootha to feature heavily, with a drop in pool showing glorious views and the wow factor, especially at night! Beach volleyball at Southbank, heaps of food venues can be on offer, which can stay after. Make our athletes village at Northshore the most comfortable, with the best food ever for all staying there. Maybe Surfers for the marathon. Birkdale for white water events, let's build it there, look at Jessica Fox, that sport is about to go through the roof after The Fox sister's 3 golds. Anna as Chef De Mission, she has done a great job. The event co-ordinator/director in Paris was brilliant, although look at what he had to work with Paris!, but see if he is available? Basically look at what was on offer over there and top it. Maybe we could feature world known and loved, Mary Poppins, by P.L. Travers in the cauldron design. Brisbane has some of the leading gaming and animation companies in the world so let's use them! See comment below, great idea, we have the world's best cliff diver, maybe she could help Brisbane put on shows? Also let's take Paris's proposals to the next level and have a dedicated stage with 2 big hearts for anyone wishing to propose. Overall let's blow the world's socks off guys, we can do it

The Boxer and Red Back systems look to be much needed upgrades, but I'm only concern is that the they're replacing previous systems with lower quantities. If the war in Ukraine taught as anything is that quantity is a quality in itself. I'd love to see a video explaining future hyposonic cruise missiles the ADF is planning on procuring.

I'm sold on all but number 5. Diverting the Riverside express way would cut a vital free connection through the city. Buying back the Clem 7 and Go Between bridge would not only be prohibitively expensive, but would met major resistance from private interests, only further escalting the price. If the expressway was limited to one lane and each direction and the remaineding space was utilised to create a proper light rail extending southwards through Greenslopes to Mount Gravatt and Northwards through Everton Park to Castledine. These would greatly reduce car trips and finally active Brisbane's CBD. Additionally some heavy rail could utilise the corridor, tunneling under the city at the William Jolly Bridge and connec to the mainline at Roma street, adding additional capacity. Lastly two stations could be created, one near QUT and the other closer to William Jolly Bridge. These could be light rail stations, but could also house large end of trip facilities to encourage greater participation of active transport within the city. This would need to be coupled with better covered connection, so that the last leg of the journey protects commuters from the sun and the rain, which is really lacking presently.

“Public transport is too expensive”, but you’re all for building an 6-10 billion dollar tunnel to “fix congestion” The BCC Metro is a bandaid solution and doesn’t provide anywhere near enough capacity for the future of a growing city. Great videos, but they’d be so much better if you cut out most of the flowery big words that use. It just sounds like you don’t actually know the answer to a question you pose, then spiel out a heap of fluffy words to make it sound like you know the answer without actually researching it.
