I am having hamstring repair in a few days. How do you get in & out of the car after surgery?
Great to hear that your learning irish eoghan👏

Well Eoghan, good to see you back on the pitch after the surgery. One question should the prep in the gym be used also before team trainings and is the stuff you done all you should do or is their anymore to it and also which speed session should I be doing the one in this video or the one is the previous one you had. Thanks very much again the videos are great help and happy new year to ya
You can get the gym prep done before team training if its an option - personally I feel a lot better getting it done than going straight out on the pitch Speed wise - mixture of both. Main thing is you have: - Prep / Warm Up work to get the body feeling good - Few drills relative to max speed / acceleration / change of direction - Few high quality exposures
@eoghanmccabe11 thanks eoghan for that, is the prep you done in this video all I need to do such as the hamstring prep you were doing or would I need to add anything else in?
Can you do a video on how to get the most out of a StatsSports tracker?
Will it make me slower if I gain to much muscle in my legs and how do I make myself faster while gaining muscle
Nope! Providing you're sprinting on a weekly basis, jumping, hopping, bounding and not going complete bodybuilder sessions you'll be sweet! Building muscle in your legs will give you the potential to produce more force - just don't go full bro mode on it - as a GAA Player no point looking massive if ya can't move
Ok
I know you play for antrim but do you play for a club in Antrim (BTW I play to)
Would love to see an acceleration specific video, like the one you did a couple of months ago on speed
What is gym 1 and gym 2
Just an example of if your programme has 2 gym sessions in a week One day would suit to do day 1 and then the next day would suit to do day 2
Class boy
Really enjoyable video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you👊🏼

What workout split would you recommend for GAA players?
@@declanfoley7562 it depends on the goals, weekly training set up, players experience etc As a general layout - 1-2 speed sessions and 1-3 gym sessions depending on where you’re at Gym can be full body strength & power focused or split up into upper / lower days Just so many variables to take into account I can’t really give an exact answer without knowing the individual and what’s going on
Getting directly to the in season speed plan - should strength work still be prioritized as much as on field speed work?
@@tejhas24 it depends boss What’s your goals? What do you need to get from your training to improve your performance on pitch? Do you need to get bigger and stronger or already at a good level there? Definitely keep an element of it in for robustness, keeping the body feeling good and even improving outputs But the time and energy you need to give to it will change with time - younger / younger training age athletes will want to give more time to strength work, but as we build that level we don’t need to spend as much time there

What is a good distance to get better at overall speed and acceleration? I assume shorter distance for acceleration and longer for top end? But in terms of distance would it be like 20-30m onwards?
In a fantasy world... 😂
I play for davvids
I was at Ur game
R u from Antrim cause I am to
I won a tournament the day after
Thanks I guess?

@@OisinMccarroll-us1ck anytime🤝
How would you say change of direction and burst speed be worked on?
@@tejhas24 easiest way to improve anything is doing the task If we want to improve accelerating off the mark then that’s what we practice doing each week Getting the exposures in consistently 1-2 times per week. Looking at how you’re moving, becoming more efficient and effective by looking at how the body is moving, hoe you’re interacting with the ground etc Same with change of direction - looking at your current strategy. Where are you leaking energy or being inefficient from a movement standpoint - can we tidy that up and address it Then practice it week on week and get faster over time Replicate the movements you’d make in a game in a closed environment where you know the movements you’re going to make then progress over time to more open and competitive environments and stress test the skills there
@@tejhas24 depending on where you’re at in your training journey - building strength and size in the gym will potentially help with producing and absorbing force on the pitch Combine that with direct work on the pitch focusing on your acceleration, max speed and change of direction

Good video! Would be good to know how you balance anterior / posterior leg work for in-season sessions. Would it be good to have a heavy deadlift / RDL / glute bridge in the week too? Would you stack that on the same gym day?
Or even like explosive high cleans or something ... I'm never sure how to balance that
@@tomasmci thank you & great question boss! My main frame of thinking when it comes to lower body work is getting it in where it won’t have a negative effect on anything else in the week Somewhere where we’ve enough time to recovery before the next session if you’re gonna go heavy posterior focus with a bit of eccentric stress too. Ideally would do that after pitch session and have more time to recover - High/Low model Just depends on the player, how experience they are, what level they’re at, what the schedule is like. So many ways to skin a cat Could also look at having a heavier strength focused day and then a more power focused day if you’re further along in your training journey Heavier strength work earlier in the week, more explosive work later in the week closer to the game - won’t take as much out of you and will have some priming effect for the game too depending on the workload Hope that helps. But so many ways to look at it, classic example of “it depends” lol
@@eoghanmccabe11 Ah great stuff man - very helpful, thank you. Yeah, it can be a bit tricky with the heavy training load coming at the start of the week both on and off pitch too - high intensity pitch session on a Monday followed by strength session that night or on Tuesday (or vice versa). I'll try tweaking it as you suggest and put the power stuff towards the end of the week - thanks again!
