Hobbyist costuber who dabbles in historical costumes, historybounding, cosplay, and stage costumes for local theaters. My sewing style would be best described as 'chaotic', but I do my best to show you where I went right and where I went wrong so you can avoid the mistakes I make in your sewing. On this channel it is important to me to do my part toward making costuming inclusive, mostly by sharing resources and tips I've found to make it more affordable.
Attempting a “Super Jiffy” Thanksgiving Dress
Hi friends! I misspoke in the video, this took me just under three hours, not over. However, I didn’t finish the hem and that would have added time! When I cut the pattern piece out I lined the bottom up with the overlocked edge of the tablecloth so I wouldn’t have to do further finishing. :)
These little turkeys make me so happy! I’ve been cackling all morning. This is a great pattern for something that I can really only wear a couple of times a year since I didn’t have to put too much time into it.
If you want to follow along with my projects as I make them you can find me on Tik Tok and Instagram @KaityBower
As always closed captions will be added right once I have access to a computer.
Thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time!

Hi, friends! Please enjoy this new content for this new season! I really love this pattern and will probably be making it again in a few different fabrics. I think I’ll try the ruffle next time! Definitely would recommend this one, especially for frolicking in fields. I forgot to mention in the video, you should use bias tape that matches your dress in color for the elastic channel. It probably...

DIY an Easy Historybounding Look With Free Patterns

Hi, friends! Thanks for joining me for this video! I realized I didn’t end up giving a review on the fit of the bodice, so I’ll do that here! Rita a bit short waisted, which worked very well for me, but if you’re particularly long in the torso I would lengthen it. The straps are quite wide set, which also happened to work well for me, but if you don’t have broad shoulders I would potentially mo...

Christmas Cottagecore Pinafore: Making a Maternity Holiday Dress
Thank you for this video!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing. How much fabric did you start with using the duvet cover? Thanks in advance; and God bless!
Its beautiful. I want mine with pockets.

Looks great
How tall your man is?Cuz I am 5foot2inches and my waist is 33-35inches so I wonder if the pattern would fit my size
Very cool!
Thank you!!
I already had this pattern, but the instructions short circuited my brain. So thank you for helping me understand 😅😁
It is a bit strange that you can’t try it on until it’s almost completely done!
Love this. I was going to go as French resistance this year but sadly I couldn't. Are you planning on going to any outher events this year?
Bummer we’ll miss you! I think this might be our last big event this year, but I’ll ask the girls. We may be doing a couple small things in Michigan.
I don't have that problem... I just have seven projects going on at once 😂
I tell myself that every day😂
Good sewing. Good editing.
Oh this sounds fun. #summer
#summerbustingsewing
The dress is very pretty, how many meters of fabric did you use?❤❤❤❤
Love all the details! There are some wonderful patina waxes that you can use on wood, paper, plastic and metal, and they are easily found at Michael’s. That might be good for future 3D printed items for comic cons. The wings are absolutely gorgeous, and that hand sewing was absolutely worth the time you spent. It’s just stunning! Congrats on the bebeh! (Edited to add stuff after watching this again while not pre-occupied with family 😂)
I made 4 dresses like this till today an I still love them. First thing I considered was that the today-material = elastic needs many changes. The first materials I took= cotton, the pattern fits 100% then.
Hi! I really like that top you’re wearing in the beginning of the video. Do you have a pattern for that?
A duvet cover is the perfect thing for this pattern. The pieces were too wide for my muslin 😅lol
Love the fabric print beautiful great work
I love it ! ...you look great in it ..nice job! I saw this pattern on Amazon will now order it...
Your skills are anazing! what is the name of the type of hair clips you used to attach the head piece? Did you use any specific hair tutorials to style the hair or did you just wing it? The hair looks great.
çok beğendim sevdim
I cant believe it. and it looks so NICE!!!!!
Love it! I bought it during one of the sales, I can't wait to start it. Looking for fabric I love. I like to use 100% cotton, because I love natural fabrics, they last the longest.. wear well, and feel great.
Lovely! ❤
Thank you! 💕
That fabric is gorgeous, it looks like the beautiful art you see on ceramic teapots! 🥰 Where did you buy it? What was the name of the fabric print? Or did you thrift/reuse fabric? It's such a beautiful dress and you look lovely in it 🥰 The bows at the shoulder are a lovely touch!
Thank you! I did thrift it. It was a duvet cover, if I remember right possibly from Ikea.
A bed sheet you said! Trim it in red binding you said! Make it in less than 3 hours you said! Congrats on beating the clock, and making an absolutely smashing walk away dress! Loved your enthusiasm and the dress looked so nice on you! ❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the informative video and the sweet kitty.
She does like the limelight. Somehow she always knows when I’m recording and comes running😂 My other cat is much more reticent.
I love covered buttons myself
They add such a nice touch!
I love Stephanie, she always gives me a good giggle
you did an awesome job!
Incredible! Any chance you want to share that waterfall drape pattern? I have put off this project for years for that reason alone lol! And congrats!! 🎉
Thank you! Yes, I plan to digitize and share the pattern when I have time, but it may take a bit. However, it’s actually a really easy shape before it’s folded up and pretty easy to figure out with a piece of paper and folding. I’ll see if I can find a link to a reference image real quick!
www.arrayedindreams.com/the-fictional-frock/historic-inspired/waterfall-drapery/ This is the blog post I read before starting mine! I hope it helps!
Fabulous, you look great x x x
Cute!! 🤩😍🥰❤
Thank you! This was a fun one🥰
That is such a cute dress! ❤ I love that fabric. It's a really cute design.
Thank you! I love it too! 🥰 it had a stain on one side so it felt good to repurpose it and get more use out of it!
Very cute!
Thank you! It was so fun!
Fantastic job! I've been to so many cosplay conventions with my daughter. So much fun ❣️ congrats on your new addition 💙
Thank you!! I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to go! My daughter has already asked for a spider man costume. 😂
@@KaityBower it's so fantastic until they drag in hotel room at 2am or later. She got to old for me to enjoy it 😂
@@KaityBower would've had a blast without her teehee
Oh wow! It's a beautiful gown. You did such a great job on it. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. ❤
Thank you very much! She is a sweet little bean and we’re settling in well!
❤❤❤👏
💕💕💕
What Joanne’s are you shopping at? I don’t get deals like that at the one in my city 😂😂😂
Beautiful! As a beginning seamstress I’m impressed with you finishing in less than 3hrs 😅😅 I always wondered what the pattern would look like in the cover art fabric and it’s so cute!
you can also use ribbon instead of making and turning the ties. I have made two of these blouses using the same pattern and that is definitely a time saver plus a really cute look!
Did the link stop working
How tall are you? I’m told I’m short but feel I’m average.
Lovely
Hi! Fellow Michiganian here! ❤
I love this dress. Nice job
Kitty is adorable!!!
❤ Absolutely Beautiful 🦋
I’ve watched so many of the walk away dress challenges, and I’ve decided in need to give this dress a go.
