There is compromise in a small way, for example: We both want different things for diner and I say, Okay we will eat what You want this evening. That is a compromise. A big compromise cannot even be called compromise, it is identity theft.....when your whole identity ceases to exist and you become a thing that provides only for the needs of others. Personally I think a lot of women think in "points in time". First "point in time" the children go to school....Now I have a bit more time to catch my breath. Surprise.....now that You have more time, people will expect more from You, could be husband, church, school, community or family....and so it goes on.

I think she is using the word compromise wrong. Compromise is both giving something and coming to an agreement. From her tone of voice, It sounds like she was browbeaten, bullied and gaslighted until she gave into his position/needs/wants. It was probably over the many years they were married. Something has happened that made her realize that she is no longer who she was or who she thought she was. I applaud her, she’s on her journey of self actualization, it could be more difficult than her current life or it could be easier than her current life, but hard or easy you only have this one life to become your best self.

Most of my relationships at some point became boring, regardless of the amount of drama present. As a result of my experiences I've now come to the conclusion that either men are just inherently boring or my need for novelty is extremely high. I'm constantly learning, trying out new hobbies, looking for new fun experiences, the men I dated rarely did any of that. I was always the one to introduce them to new places, cuisines, ideas, ways of doing things. Most of them had very little to show me or teach me. The majority of men I've met were decent guys, but they were more or less the same. They had a single hobby most of their life (gaming, some sport or an extremely niche nerdy interest), they all listened to one band /genre of music that they discovered in high-school, they ate the exact same dinner 3 nights a week and would go on holiday to the same location 5 years in a row (if they travelled at all). That's how I usually find them, that's their natural state. When we break up they bake, cook Thai food, enjoy theatre and art exhibitions, read about attachment styles are plan weekend getaways. But by the time they become this new type of guy I'm already tired of always being their entertainer, the giver of "first times", the source of their growth. I'd love to be in a relationship where I also get to regularly say 'Wow, I've never done that, it sounds fun, let's try it". I've lost hope of ever finding that. The guys that promise this type of relationship are usually creeps who want you to make their shmexual fantasies come true. Sometimes I feel bad for even wanting that when so many women are dealing with guys that cheat, lie and are abusive. Thanks for covering this topic, it's been on my mind a lot recently.

So, dating under your own means and capabilities as a woman means a world of pain and regression for her.

Women like this sacrifice their identify for men and children. It’s a loss of identity. She never got to be the real person. She stood still and poured into everyone else while neglecting herself. She has tried to communicate trust me. She has tried everything else, trust. She is a husk, a shell of who she was before she got married. She gave up her identity and the majority of her life as a wife slave accommodating everyone else. She should do it if she can find a way to make it financially. Women never regret it, they are finally free and can breathe for the first time in decades. She is mourning the person she never got to be, never realized she had any choice. It’s patriarchy and social conditioning. It is very scary but the other side is freedom, contentment, real joy and a true sense of self. Public you are one of the few men who get this dynamic. Your wife and the people in your life are so very fortunate that you have this level of understanding.

You are so right! If a man is going to get bored with a woman he can count on and goes looking for another woman, then it's pretty obvious that they're not meant to be a couple. If she can't hold his interest just by being who she is, then he should break it off and find someone else. That's what I do if I'm seeing someone that doesn't really "do it" for me.

For one thing, spending hours on the phone is not what people in relationships do (unless one party is out of town and there's something major to discuss), it's what people who are dating do. Also, it's on both parties to change things up. Women get bored, too. Everyone appreciates consistency. I know that if I were dating someone and we had established a predictable pattern, and then the pattern changed up without some kind of explanation, it would signal a lack of consistency.
