After much trial and error found a way to play the Non RedWood valley tracks from Build 2 Finally got around to learning to mod Dreamcast games. So I decided to send the map and car files from the second preview build into the first since it has a nifty little map select option. Free cam and unlimited ability usage is also possible in Build 1 so even more reason to use it rather than uploading ...

Both the Darkrai and Shaymin in this video where captured using the void glitch in Pokèmon Diamond and traded to Platinum. Intrestingly officially neither pokèmon was released in an event in Pokèmon DP.

I also couldn't help but notice that blank map that still has it's data intact. Any details on that?
@HammMann my guess is it's the template used as the starting ground when making more stages. Like a file the devs would probably copy and paste when they'd start development on a new track. Only guessing since the blank map existed on pretty much every version or maybe it's a placeholder for something else like the little track or power up previews on the signpost

Hey. Not sure if this is something you'd find intresting but I got in contact with Doug Boyes who composed one of the city track songs & the Dastardly and Muttley theme from the game. Was hoping to get the original recordings for those tracks but it seems the discs they were stored on corrupted/ became unreadable with time unfortunately meaning that piece of history may be lost unless someone else had a copy. What's cool though is we have a date written on the disc presumably giving us an idea of when he composed the tracks 02/03/01.
Also quick question. There's 59 map files in the game. I've been doing some math and I'm only counting 52 in the final game. Correct me if I'm forgetting something but 4 regular signs = 5 tracks each x 2 for mirror = 10 × 4 = 40 + 5 battle tracks = 45 + 3 boss tracks = 48 + 3 boss track mirrors = 51 + hub world = 52 Am I forgetting something? The battle tracks don't have mirrors, right?
@@rainyday9174 No, you're not missing a thing. I'm confident that the PS2 version had some leftover maps.
@HammMann I see. Then we'll need to find a way to access them somehow. I've been trying a variety of tools, have been getting help from several different people but all without luck. For some reason it seems Wacky Races is just built differently from most PS2 games. I've figured out how to modify other PS2 games without issue. It seems like whatever is stopping us from editing the games files is unique to the game itself. I think we may know one of the unused tracks though. Since the original dreamcast tracks are still numbered the same presumably. It seems like one of the tracks is most likely the snow battle arena track exclusive to Dreamcast.

I have random people commenting on my UA-cam videos but I can careless. I had a lot of personal stuff that happened to me last year and this year all that I’m doing okay.

@@rainyday9174My sister is doing okay. My sister lost her UA-cam channel due to copyright strikes. Also she was in hot water months ago she was streaming and called out two UA-camrs. DoodleTones made video talking about her video. While Lio Convoy came to her comments harassing her.

What tools are you using for this stuff? A lot of this stuff is more sophisticated and specific than just "Oh yeah just switch over the maps". Also it would be cool to have a version of this with the tracks of the oldest prototype. Is there any reason why the hub worlds for the old builds didn't work btw?

GDromexplorer & GD builder are the tools. it really is as simple as swapping over the extracted maps. the files are all labelled Maps so its easy to understand. I do have a build that has the older maps on the March build if you would like that. The hub worlds work on any build. I just choose not to swap them over most of the time.

@HammMann I've been trying to get that to work for the PS2 version. Though no joy yet, unfortunately. I included that file in the Google drive link now inside the folder called for "HammMann"

@@jakebodicoat2164 A little known fact. In the PS2 version by playing multiplayer and collecting a Dastardly Token in certain modes you will be taken to one of the boss maps for a race against the other player and 6 AI drivers.

Here it is, it's the Feb build with the Map files from the Preview build you shared with me ported over: drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1AbHimOYKW8JZDGU5eu5l0e-Cb0ibQqPu I plan to do another version with the maps ported to the final version of the game if anyone is interested in playing the maps that way instead (Better car controls, no free cam, tokens actually doing something, etc).
@@rainyday9174 Wacky Races DC modding is REAL! You know what's funny? I asked the dreamcast forum was asked to do this years ago, but they just didn't. This gets us one step closer to the ultimate mod... THE PS2 MAPS IN THE DC VERSION.
@@HammMann Was literally thinking the same thing. From what I've learnt making this, to me it seems very possible. I'll look into it this weekend if I'm free and I'll let you know what I come up with :)
@@rainyday9174 Quick question, could you send me the one that you've got? The one from the download either doesn't have the preview tracks or is too confusing for me to find the tracks on.
@@HammMann That's strange. Do you mean they don't show up in game? Or are you looking for the map files themself? If it's the latter the files were extracted then built again. Also most of the tracks can only be selected from the centre signpost, almost all the Wild Frontier tracks from it's signpost will appear as Oil Be Back when selected

Actually, i THINK i figured out what happens here. the game detects which part of the tracks need collision with invisible triggers which load in the next part. you must have skipped one and ran into an invisible wall that is there just incase a trigger is skipped, as without it you would have just fell through the stage.
Sounds possible. I have seen stuff like that in other games. There's a glitch on Fish and Ships where the Red Max will sometimes fall through the ground, I wonder if that's caused by skipping a trigger.
@@rainyday9174 you're bang on the nose there. but what perplexes me is that you did it for... *_Snow La Coasta?_* which as far as i'm aware hasn't actually had a sequence break found for the track yet.
@@HammMann maybe it has something to do with the Boulder Mobile being so small. Like maybe it makes it harder for the game to detect what triggers it has passed or not.
@@rainyday9174 that would make sense, especially considering the GIRTH of the mean machine probably triggering it really early.

I think it's just a problem with XLR8 going so fast that the rest of the stage doesn't have time to load. That and my disk is a little scratched up so the game might have trouble loading so stages. This glitch happens to me all the time in the second level of the game.

Play the game instead of looking for mistakes. The game's over 10 years now. No use looking for Glitches when It's made it's money.
I'm not a game dev so why should it making or not making money matter too me? I don't find glitches for the sake of pointing out it's flaws in the hope they will be patched in a future release. I find them because people seem to get enjoyment from seeing there favourite games in a new way, I know I do.

For clarification, i didn't dump the entire rom, i just found it listed on a website for Dreamcast Betas that everybody forgot about and they just so happened to have wacky races listed on there, so you can thank me for bringing it to light. :)

Hey, cool vid. Surprising to see someone broke this all the way back in 2016. There's actually a community of us speedrunning this game and doing other glitches, but it's cool to see someone doing an out of bounds from 4-5 years ago.

1:29 nice to see that infogrames have a sense of humor. you can tell they probably enjoyed making this game. the PS2 version though, not the dreamcast one. one of the devs commented on a youtube video talking about how the dreamcast version was way too close to becoming a rushed mess, while how the PS2 verison was more of a leisurely cruise because of how much was allready finished. that would explain why the prototypes only 5 months from the game's release look like a completely diffrent game.
