Fiddlers Ferry and Littlewoods Update
Are mum was the cook at strawberry fields, we would leave by the back door of the old house and walk across the lawn ,you could walk down through the woods and come out into vale road close to the old building at the end of vale road “the white houses” this was in the early sixties
That is my school
Talking of Norris. It is said that he was a terrible womaniser, if he had a bike we would all have been called Norris. Another great video Jeff. The bedrooms will be closed I would think to keep the rooms dark to prevent the degrading of the wall paper and fabrics
Yes I think you're right about the bedrooms, they won't let you use flash for photography for the same reason.
Happy new year to you Jeff, I hope you are soon feeling better and back to your normal self, only six weeks to spring. Have a look at “Granada reports. Speke hall gateacre former pupils.” I think you will find it interesting.
Hi Geoff, sorry you haven't been well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of you're video's am moving by Window Lane, so l looking forward to watching it. Look after yourself 👍
Stay out of the fog jeff. Take plenty of vit C. Look forward to more of your work when you are able.
Welcome back Geoff
Good to see your okay Jeff , looking forward to seeing your new projects 👍
Nice to see you back - look forward to seeing your 2025 vids!
I remember looking on Google maps and thinking They weren't too far from each other however it was a little bit of a walk I wonder if they use their bicycles?
My mothers boyfriend had a unit in bear brand building custom fishing rods. I used to help out at weekends sometimes. These pictures brought back some memories, thanks for sharing some history of Woolton village
Jeff Happy New Year hope you and the family had a great Christmas. I’m watching some of your older videos enjoying them watched the one of Garston my family on my dads side where from Garston one part you didn’t get a chance to go to was Window Lane my gran used to say how great it was years ago. I look forward to more of your videos but understand you not doing much at moment weather been so bad and icey. Take care.
Hi Mark sorry for the late reply. Wasn't at all well over Christmas and New Year. Hope you had a great time. I'm OK now so will be back very soon.
Hi Jeff yeah been so much about I had a bad cold round Christmas but much better now. Glad you’re getting better. Been watching your old videos in order up to one about Wavertree just after Hunts Cross one you did round three years ago. Look forward to more soon.
Great video the Cinema Drive estate was built / completed back in 2015, I moved from Dunstan Street which is just off Picton Road, into one of the houses back in 2016 🙂
So the Liverpool combined authority are using tax payer money (approx £17,000 000). Is this going to be another HS2 project which syphons up the money but never comes to frutiton? Major Steve Rotherham keeps talking about how the project will provide over 5000 jobs to the North West Region but I wonder how many of those jobs will be in the actual film industry or just servant jobs for minimum wage...
Since this footage was taken the deterioration in this area has accelerated massively. The slide into a slum area dominated by ''Turkish barbers' and a depressing myriad of similar immigrant run 'businesses' looks unstoppable, and is creeping ever closer to the once affluent Allerton Road, where almost every shop that comes available is turned into a tacky pub or 'restaurant' of sorts.
There's some rude parking going on around there. Doesn’t it make it difficult for none motorised or mobility vehicles to get past?
As a child I played around the quarry with my brothers and sisters.
Another great walking talking video that I enjoy watching. Glad to see you had a pint in my dads local the White Horse, he's been going there for 40 plus years and still a weekend regular now he's 88 years old. Thanks Jeff once again.
Haven't been there in years! Nice to watch this, might make a visit in the new year 👍
Sir Bob Paisley is also buried in St Peters Church Graveyard with his Wife, there Son Graham has been the Church Rector since the 1990s and still is.
Happy Christmas Jeff to you and your family . Thank you for your output in 2024. Your hard work is appreciated by all your loyal viewers and subscribers. Peace.
What year did you leave Kingsthorne Jeff?
1968
I was at Kingsthorne C.P. School from 1945 to 1951. Lived in Woodend Ave Hunts Cross.
million miles away from ringo house,,,
Great video Jeff this is a lovely place and gardens 👍
I’m from the U k and now live on Phillip island south east of Melbourne In 1906 the SS Speke was wrecked during a fierce Storm Now only some rustic metal work remain The beautiful figurehead was restored and is on display in Cowes our main town
Excellent Jeff. In past years I’ve visited the Hall twice but on both occasions it’s been closed!
I think you'd have to check their website to see what days the hall is open to the public.
Excellent video Jeff. Thank you for the tour. Cheers from Houston 🇺🇸✌️
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video Jeff
Thanks 👍
Great update as always Jeff. Love Speke Hall used to go there a lot years ago. My gran loved the Speke Hall when she was still here she always said it was one of her favourites. If you don’t do another video before all the best to you and the family.
All the best to you and yours Mark. I hope to do at least one more before Christmas.
you missed a lot about garston baths and wash house i remember going in with my gran it was a shame when it closed
youu
I enjoyed that. I was Born in The Dingle and used to play all around the Dock Rd. It was so busy along there in those days and they were happy ones too.
Hi everyone i was born in Whitney Road Love this video brings back beautiful memories o my mum and dad and my brothers who have passed away me and my sister are left now and am the baby of are family am 58 now thank you for this beautiful video ❤xxx
Hi i was born in Whitney Road seen my old house
Shame.
Always thought Menlove Avenue was an amusing name, Lennon probably had a snigger about it😄 Nice upload, thank you👍
I can see both sides of the argument but the fact remains that we have already lost too many examples of 30s architecture.
Beautiful video as usual. In 1977 - 78 I lived on the corner of Vale Road and Menlove Avenue in a studio, part of an apartment block called Milman Court, which had like a below-ground car-park for the residents. I had my virtually new beautiful motorcycle stolen from being parked there, never to be recovered. I believe this block has since been demolished and replaced by a new red-brick one, though I don't know whether the old name has been retained. I do not recall the splendid woodland area shown in this video, but I do remember well the high-rise flats.
@@78a67h There was a 45 degree ramp out of that car park. Those flats were built in a quarry tip too. they filled the car park level with the roadway when rebuilt. . I remember an orange bond bug being parked there regularly in your time.
@@strawberryfields1149 I remember that ramp so well, and my scrambler motorcycle would shoot up it in 2nd gear easy! I do not recall the Bond, but one resident had an at the time impressive Triumph Stag, and another an Austin 30 parked there.
@@78a67h the Bond parked on Vale Road. I think the ramp or it's clearance defeated it.
I grew up in vale road. The pond you refer to was nearer the south end of vale road opposite where the gardeners arms is and closer to where John Lennon lived. We used to play around there in the 50s and 60s. Interesting video brought back many good memories. Thank you
Thanks for the info on the pond location.
The beech trees look stunning. Amber, copper and emerald. Thank you.
Great video Jeff 👍
Thanks Martin 👍
Enjoy your videos from NYC. Im a big Beatle fan from the beginning, spent a day in Liverpool, not nearly enough time. Just enough to get a quick glimpse at the important sites but need more time.
I go to Clatterbridge hospital next to the Royal. I have to walk through the Royal to get to Clatterbridge
Enjoyed that Jeff . Love your channel mate . We have had a similar journey, I was brought up in L7 Earle road Freeman st St Dunstans is on the corner . Then moved to Woolton at 14 years old . I’m a couple of years older than you 👍
I had relatives on Earle Road we used to walk to visit when I lived on Holmes Street. They moved out to Halewood in the 60's
@ all our family lived around Earle rd Smithdown rd . Grandparents lived in Underley st & Harvey street. Small world Jeff
Great update as always Jeff very interesting as always
Thanks Mark 👍
Interesting video about ‘The Tip’. Just a little further up by the high-rise flats was ‘The Outhouse’ public art installation - another little piece of history that our far-sighted city fathers decided to demolish only last year.
Thank you xxx
Thanks for the videoa Jeff, always make me smile. Appreciate your work!
Hi Jeff, great video love looking at the before and after 👍
Spent many years walking up and down Church Road as I used to go to Bishop Martin, good times!
