@@sergiogonzalez2611 amazing! I clarify in the video but just know that this isn’t a cure all for arcane shading but more so a tip that can help achieve it when combined with additional things. But I hope this helps!
For the shader to look more hand drawn, use window or camera coordinates for all the textures, that way any brush strokes and detail looks flat.

@DeliProductions LSM layer mask addon comes with a few nodes. 3 light nodes, rim light node, specular node that you can adjust the x and y of the specular, and a outline node, and and object gradient node

13:10 Generated coordinates give a 0-1 gradient at each of the XYZ axes. In this particular case, rotating by 90 degrees wasn't necessary as you could've just used the Z axis directly instead. Additionally, if you wanted a tilted gradient, Mapping is redundant to the other parts of the node chain. As it's translation (Add/Subtract), rotation (Vector Rotate), and scaling (Multiply/Divide) bundled into a single node. Personally, I prefer using Vector Rotate + Math Nodes , cuz I like the granular control separate nodes give me. That, and operating on floats (gray values) are cheaper than operating on vectors (purple). But you could prolly achieve the same thing you have with just a single Mapping node. Overall point being, you typically only need one or the other. EDIT: Hopefully that helps. ^^ Didn't wanna seem like I was ragging on the video lol. Just thought it might be worth bringing up.

an alternative solution for the brush stroke is, instead of placing the texture brush stroke AFTER the diffuse shader color ramp, you place it BEFORE, you can get more natural transitions by doing this

@@DeliProductions All textures tile automatically if you use object coordinates with box project. You don't need to unwrap any of the objects.

Really sorry but it looks like just a Uv broken texture to me...
The Suzanne (monkey) with the texture is using a texture meant for a different model. I just wanted to a use an image to showcase you can use an image instead of just colors

@@DeliProductions im using Mac i9 unfortunately and it is not good for 3d applications because of internal graphic card. So im trying efficient solutions for that. Now im looking different gpu efficient shaders. Especially noise texture and ambient occ is my enemy they are crashing Blender... İm using them only as fac. Or ao not color for example. Even basic geo nodes doesnt work well its frustrating...

I believe you can find some on some stock websites. These ones I used I made personally with Krita and a bit of Procreate

Its so cool! but only thing that i find is fresnel... is it possible to change the color of the fresnel according to the light? because for example when I shine a blue light on it, the fresnel stays white
Ah yes! What you'd want to do is take your base color with the light color and use a blend mode (can try screen?) with a new color for a brighter color or you can multiply it for a darker color. You'd then feed that result into the A or B portion where your fresnel lives now. Hope that helps!

Yup! You might need to do some small adjusting but I've been very happy with the default results

Unreal does indeed have nanite. All depends if nanite is completely necessary for your project in my opinion

I don't believe it does? But I haven't tried since none of my characters have tails

I'm not quite sure what was broken? BUT I do have a video coming out soon (either late this week or early next week) where i go over a stylized shader setup I made if that would interest you
@@DeliProductions Please do. I was unconvinced to upgrade to 4.2 because of the update screwing cel shade over. hopefully this update and you would help me and many other people show us that cel shade isn't as bad and if not, better than it was on 4.1

That is an old version of a Prince of Persia rig yes. Not sure what you mean by nerfed and weirded though lol
@DeliProductions I love the Prince Of Persia games, but they decided to mess up the franchise by creating the newest part in some weird and stylised version. That's what I meant by the nerf lol
If anybody new to animation is reading the comments here and trying to decide what program to learn, Blender is 100% better for animating, and the Cycles renderer in it (when tweaked) is much more performant (and pretty) than trying to render out a final quality animation in Unreal, which can start to feel quite far from being actual real-time when closing towards final render. Hopefully they continue to add features in Eevee that helps improves its NPR capabilities (light-linking is a great step), instead attempting to purely replace Cycles overtime

Blender is still a no go over unreal. Try playing back animation at 24 fps in the view port with any good enough qaulity scene character. Realtime previz of your shots is what sold us on unreal engine.
Totally get ya on the real time viewport. I personally animate in Maya and bring over to Blender or UE just for render. So the realtime playback isn’t as crucial for what I’m doing. But if you need a certain type of NPR style, UE definitely is falling behind in that category
I thought I'd never see a day where tool like Blender can do so well in near real-time lighting.. New EEVEE is game changing.

Great vid. However... If it unseated Unreal for you then you should donate to Blender foundation. Yeah it IS free, but if it makes us switch from paid software, and that software realises we're using Blender, they'll get their dev's to copy what we love about Blender (hello Maxon). But for Blender to get better they need the dev's to be paid to dev what we need them too. If we all donate then they can hire more people and we can have the best software ever. So it is free, but we should donate

I love blender, but for larger scenes, a lot of folliage or even millons of polygons unreal wins every time.
Yea foliage can be tricky. I don’t tend to use a ton of foliage so it doesn’t affect me as much

That's funny, I have only been using Blender (in Cycles) becuase of light linking. I never knew about lights channels. We're like two ships passing in the night.
Haha glad I could help! The light channels are pretty nice. You are limited to 3 though, 0 being your base, and then only having 1 and 2 to play with. So try and create a system where 1 can be a certain character set and 2 can be another

@ light channels is in UE, it’s their system haha. Unfortunately in UE there’s only 3 channels or groups you can use
