這首……鳳凰……給人不安及恐怖詭異的感覺，沒有鳳凰給人那種華麗幸福，歡愉歌舞，平安吉祥，自在飛翔的幸福感受，反而覺得很暗黑，詭異，奇怪又令人不舒服的感覺，而且覺得充滿了死亡與群魔亂舞，鬼魅妖魔來臨血腥黑暗不見天日，只有黑暗及藍色紅色的恐怖光影晃動，恐怖令人不安的，及永遠無法得救，永遠無法脫離的絕望，悲憤，無奈，鬱悶，恐怖，驚恐，不祥，魔鬼來臨到處殺戮吞吃生命，及充滿了淫亂，色情氣味及血腥死亡屍體橫陳的濃厚的恐怖感受及影像，魔鬼在暗處窺伺的恐怖及死亡正在吞吃靈魂及魔鬼在到處日尋找生命及姦淫及殺戮後吞吃生命的恐怖感受，聽完之後身心靈都非常不舒服，根本沒有鳳凰給人祥瑞幸福的感受

An astonishingly good film, set in one of the worst times in recent Chinese history. Yimou borrows gracefully from the Wizard of Oz in one respect: modern China is in black and white, and the meeting of his parents is filmed in glorious color. The movie, more than anything else, is about parents' love and filial duty.

Stumbled across this beautiful movie(and its superlative score) quite by chance while reading Paul Hyder's wonderful book, 'Tears in the Dark: Why the Movies Make Us Cry': www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08DMRG9B8/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_taft_p1_i4 I had to search high and low for this movie but eventually found it at itunes with English subtitles. To be honest, I didn't think that I was gonna be able to relate to a Chinese film, but this simple tale of forbidden love went straight to my heart. I loved the subtle way that the two expressed their love for each other in a society where falling in love at first sight was considered taboo. I'll let Mr Hyder have the last word: " . . . it is The Road Home that will always remain my favourite. Its simplicity, its rural setting, and traditional folk ways of its villagers all rouse a deep yearning in me to return to the past. Zhao Di, too, is part of this idyllic past. She represents a natural beauty and childlike innocence that is fast disappearing in a modern world that wants to grow up fast."
