- This music is from the soundtrack of the Zhang Yimou film "The Road Home" released in 2000. The original title of this Chinese film is "Wo de fu qin mu qin (My father and mother)". The composer is San-Bao. You can still get this from Amazon. The film is amazing and if you have not seen it, you are missing out on one of the best pieces of cinema ever. It could very well be described as an Asian Monet on film. Visually stunning and sublime. A force of nature. I do not own any of the content and do not intend copyright infringement.
I feel this film is ridiculously underrated in the west. For those who know and love it, thank god! I’m glad there a human beings still walking this planet with a heart. Just a stunning piece of work. Truly beautiful.

I saw it on HBO at maybe 2004 in Hungary. Loved it as a teen, still adore it now.

Francois Fofo the Filmaker Zhang Yimou discovered her at the arts academy in University of Beijing . He saw something in her , the rest is history. Look at his other films as well , they are high art masterpieces .
Zhang Yimou demonstrates that just a simple love story is enough to make a masterpiece. I love it because it is REAL

I've seen this film 5 times. Can't get enough of it. Makes me teary-eyed each time. House of Flying Daggers is another favorite, but I've seen almost everything he's done. Zhang Yimou is an amazing filmmaker.

The movie, more than anything else, is about parents' love and filial duty.

Wow I just finished watching this film... what can I say but staggeringly beautiful! Zhang Yimou is a master with music and visual style his films, whether its Hero or The Story of Qiu Ju to Raise the Red Lanterns they all always make me tear up!

I have lived a full and complete life watching this movie.
A beautiful track for a beautiful film. I have a friend who I once ended up in an argument with after having told her about a screenplay I was writing and when I told her about it she just asked me when "something interesting" would happen. I can only assume that what she was talking about was a death or an explosion because what I was working on was definitely very much like the tone of this film. A short, simple glimpse at what simply finding the right person for you can do to change your life
Haha, funny. Tell your friend that death is eventually the final capture for every individual human being so it doesn’t have to be told in every story; explosion is only a rare incident that doesn’t necessarily happen in every story.
This was such a moving, beautiful movie we loved it!
Anyone who gives this a thumbs down needs their hearing and heart tested. Glad I got to find this Site as I love erhu, I don't know how the players can get the amazing range of sound from it.

@moonbaby1962 I totally fall in love with chinese cinematography, when i saw for the first time "The house of flying daggers" i cry for three hours, the heartbreaking story; i can not stop, so i promised to myself, that i must see all Zhang Yimou's films and i got up to "The Road Home" and i decided it is fantastic and i have to recommend to everybody!
And i must thank you for the soundtrack cuz it is the best music ever - no Hip Hop, no R'n'B, no Rao, but chinese beautiful music!!! =D

All Zhang Yimou's films are fabulous and they are making me cry everythime I am watching it. "The Road home" is his best film. "The Curse of the Golden Flower" , "The House of flying daggers", "Hero" or "Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles" everyone must see, cuz it is changing your life forever.
