Nah, the Summer Cart 64 is waaaay better than the Everdrive 64. You can play the 64DD games on the flashcart !
This is just a better produced John Hancock video. He posted nearly the name video in January of ‘23
The n64 library is very manageable. The whole thing, all 300 games, fits on a 4 gig SD card.
Thats the exact setup I am going for. Got the red wireless brawler controller ordered and want a red n64 and will sell my og one. What is an everdrive?
Everdrive allows you to play games on an SD, but through a cartridge-based FPGA chip. Thanks for watching!
@ You think the analogue is worth it or better an N64 with a super eon?
You can buy a converter to hdmi cables cheap
Yeah but they probably add lag and they don’t look very good either. A lot of those brands promise a lot and don’t deliver.
Retrotink is the way to go. It offers S Video, and line doubles up to 480p. No lag, and can support a ton of retro consoles. Stay away from Hyperkin, not really worth it IMO.
it's not the n64 I want.
Ok you do you bro!
lol $70 GTFOH
2:50 Retro-bit's Wireless Tribute 64 is the SUPERIOR modernized controller. Fight me and split the fandom, fellow N64 fanboys. Also, I'd have to disagree that the original controller wasn't comfortable or ergonomic. Just a weird layout and the stick wears easily (but only needs injection-molded plastic to fix).
I can see your point!
Anyone know where to get a 48 pin cartrage connector replacement?
6:06 some PAL N64s do not support S-Video.
Love the ATP shirt
honestly, I just need the everdrive card and it feels already perfect.
Is homebrew downloading and playing games (that u dont own) legal?
I won't lie brother, 75 bucks for a shell is INSANE. A decent purple dream cast translucent shell is like 15 bucks on Ebay all day.
Definitely can comment on the og controller design: At 8-12 years old like we were at the time, we thought it was a UNIQUE and CHARMING controller, but NOT A GOOD ONE! 2:05
I recommend the kaico N64 HDMI adapter. Works nice to double lines and use that s video signal.
How come no mention of that memory Card adapter that you plugged into the controller port and most importantly where to buy it?
That’s just the wireless adapter for the controller I mentioned. It’s not a separate product. That’s just the way they designed it.
I will take it all and extra contloers
i grew up with the atari 8 bit computers.
I wasn’t too far behind you, the NES and SNES were my main consoles growing up. I never actually owned a 64 growing up.
Hoping you come back soon and make that video about s-video brother!
I'm not just trolling or being awkward but I switched off immediately when the first thing you added was the Retro Fighters controller. Looks the part, perhaps, but the stick sensitivity/gate on this thing is all wrong. Makes playing some games excruciatingly either twitchy or dull.
I can understand that, I haven’t had any problems. You seem like a guy that needs the OG experience with original or near-original controllers, and that’s just fine. However, most people just want to play their games they remember as a kid and don’t care about any of that. I would consider myself a highly sensitive (and anal) gamer and I have no problem with this controller. But I also didn’t grow up with the 64, I was a few years older and grew up on the NES, Genesis, and SNES. So I completely understand where you’re coming from when you complain about about the stick on the Retro Fighters - my d-pads have to be perfect for me to play my old school NES games. So I understand. But I guess my whole point is that 95% of the people playing just won’t care about that.
Yea I prefer the original controllers. If I absolutely have to replace the stick with a modern stick, I've found the 8bitdo hall effect stick works much more nicely and accurate than the retro fighters and other after market controllers. I do not however like to use it with the rest of the wireless 8bitdo kit, bc with the current state of the firmware, it makes the stick overly sensitive similar to brawlers. If you use the 8bitdo hall effect stick in a regular old wired controller, it works very well. I'm very picky about accuracy too. I will take an original stick any time first.
I used to play zero mission on the same gameboy micro, zero mission is my favorite in the entire series.
Zero Mission might be my favorite side-scroller Metroid game, second to only Super Metroid.
Well i played on the color tv game and mario isn't there
All right
Where can I get one?
Available in lots of places brother. Shells are pretty widely available. And prices have went up on everything it seems but down on retro games, so it might be time to snag one.
I modded my new 3ds xl because was no longer able to get digitally purchased games after the stores closed. I was so mad. 500+ worth in games became toilet paper. Until i modded mine. 🙌🏼
We should collab some time. I make lots of 3ds content.
I’d love that! I have another channel that blew up so I’ve neglected this channel pretty badly. But I’d love to get together.
Very cool. How big of a sd card do you need for all those systems?
If you don’t include the CD-based systems like Sega CD, Neo Geo CD and Turbo CD, then you could probably fit all the cartridge based systems from Atari through SNES on a 64GB card.
👍
Video converter not recommended going from s-video to hdmi?
Yeah I wouldn’t. It’s going to have a lot of lag. I would recommend a scaler, never a cheap adapter for HDMI. The RetroTink products do an outstanding job with that. Some are very affordable, but they are not cheap adapters.
My only complaint with the N64 is that even with an HDMI output card being installed, the graphics will always look horrible on an HDTV. There are so many artifacts, triangular dithering, blurry filtering, and a number of other unappealing graphical artifacts that appear to be difficult to remove. Take Star Fox 64. It looks horrible due to dithering. It would have to be stripped out of the code itself before it ever hit the video processor in the N64, and I'm not sure how that could be done after trying to look into it. In essence, I gave up on the original console and started playing N64 games on other systems because they look much better that way.
Yeah you’re not wrong on that. Honestly, I don’t play mine on an HDTV, I am blessed to have several old CRTs to play on. When those go kaput I guess they’ll have some awesome texture packs or something for N64 games lol
One thing you missed: You need some of the 4Layer Forever Pack memory cards. They don't have a battery (like in the official memory cards) so you don't have to worry about losing your saves.
you dont need the memory cards for an everdrive. it saves to the memory card. before you turn off the N64 you hit reset to initiate the save
@GETBENT1331 not all games save to the everdrive/cart so you'll need external memory cards for those.
While you do need a N64 memory card (controller pak) for some games, you can backup the N64 memory card onto the SD card with the Everdrive 64! You can even have a different backup for each game, or different controller slots. If your memory card ran out of battery and you lost your saves on it, you could retrieve them from the SD card.
Can the Retro Brawlers be wired and w9uld you recommend them to be wired?
Can anyone recommend a good site for ROMs or homebrew software?
I am getting back into N64 i Finally took it out of storage its cool to see the N64 still gling strong
Just discovered your channel and has dhown me some great stuff for N64. I had one back in school in 1998 and now i want one again lok
Nope won't resell, I have the special edition pikschu n64, along with the controller, both still in great condition
nice!
Wireless controls, no thanks , I stick with wired like a normal person
I get that. I’m incredibly anal and would also prefer just to play with a wire honestly. But most people just don’t care.
After having this video sit on my watchlist for a good while, I finally bit the bullet and modded my trusty old 2DS today. So I wanted to thank you for this video, even though I´m late to the party. Better late than never, I guess.
Hey it took me 3 months to respond so we’re good! Thank you for watching and thank you for your lovely comment.
Is there an ever drive that all ready has the nes games snes comparable and 64 rom hacks on it I dont really want to to fidgit with sd cards
No unfortunately not. They wouldn’t be able to do that legally. But that’s an easy download on something like an ARCHIVE
I modded my 3DS last month for my birthday, mainly to dump my games and save files into the console for preservation purposes. But yeah. h shop.
Watching this getting ready fir GJS 2024. Good stuff man!
I won’t be able to be there this year, which is a shame, but I hope you have a great time!
After hearing the E-shop closing as well as seeing a lot of sellers trying to see physical cartages for really stupid prices (ive been seeing like 40 dollars for some Pokémon name titles) i decided to mod my 3ds. and I'm loving it so far. can't wait to play all the major titles that I've missed or played before!
It really is a treat. I salute all the developers that made it happen and let us enjoy the games that Nintendo wants to seemingly let go.
Soooo........it should be called the 4 most common mods.
No not really. Actually didn’t mod the system at all. Maybe “4 common add-ons?”
@@retroperfection81 That's even better
Some cleaning wouldn't hurt though. ^^
Camera catches everything. It’s actually a lot cleaner than it looks. Just watch My Life In Gaming - their stuff always looks dirty but it’s not. They just use really great cameras that catches every speck of dust. But hey, thanks for watching!
I’m down to try these wireless controllers but why is no one talking about the modded OG controllers with the GameCube joysticks?
I prefer the 8bitdo gamecube style joystick replacement over the retrofighters brawler 64.
The original controllers have their benefits. When the control stick is in good condition on an original controller, it is actually significantly more precise than modern controllers. Modern control sticks can feel far too sensitive in some games, making fine and precise adjustments much more difficult. Modern control sticks use potentiometers, whereas the N64 original controllers use optical sensors which are actually more precise. The huge downside of the old N64 sticks is that they degrade relatively fast over time, though you can reduce the rate of this by using silicon based lubricant (either powder or gel). Brand new OEM controllers are highly valued by many speed runners, but my own personal opinion is also that OEM controllers in good condition feel better in some games because of how precise they feel. You can buy replacement parts which are more or less the same as the factory original parts, but they seem to be a little bit less consistent and a little less precise than the originals, but the parts are cheap and relatively easy to replace yourself, and even if it's not getting quite as good as a brand new OEM control stick, it will likely be far superior to a control stick which has seen significant wear. The only good brand I know for those is Kitch Bent. The parts for a full replacement come to around 6 USD, but you'll want to buy a bunch at once to save on shipping costs, which could be around 10-20 USD (or more) depending on where you're ordering from. There are also metal control stick parts which significantly improve the reliability of the sticks, and will retain the precision of a brand new control stick for a long time (though they are not all equal, as different people have made them). Nobody has ever managed to produce them quickly enough to meet demand, so people have often had to wait YEARS before getting them, and some people have gotten screwed over by sellers who took their money and then never filled the order. Good quality metal control sticks are HIGHLY prized by speed runners, and have sometimes sold for thousands of dollars.
2:37 real start of the video
samus returns is amazning loved it i think am2r was ported to the 3ds but i cant deny or confirm it.
Dude if AM2R was ported to the 3DS I’d be all over that. I’m gonna look that up! Thanks!
this dude kept improving himself, theese videos are inspiring
Thank you so much, I’m going to try to start making videos on this channel again soon!
