#3 FO 2022: Retro Rib Shawl knit for my mom’s 80th birthday!
I enjoy knitting and crocheting for others, which is a habit I picked up from my mother. So, as her 80th birthday approached, I decided it was time for me to make something special for HER. This shawl makes a great wrap around your shoulders or can be tied around your neck like a scarf.
This Retro Rib Shawl is designed by Bettina of The Knitting Me and uses 3 colors of fingering weight yarn (I used Comfort & Joy from the Purls of Joy yarn shop in Healdsburg, CA).

Track rows & repeats for knitting or crochet patterns using Notes on iPad or iPhone

Use the Apple Notes app on iPad or iPhone to create interactive pattern worksheets to more easily manage tracking rows and pattern repeats. You no longer need to manually count rows or keep scraps of paper around. I set up a pattern worksheet for each new project so that I can track my progress in case I set down the work. And, with iCloud syncing, the notes stay up to date on all of my Apple d...

How to tighten interchangeable knitting needles (ChiaoGoo) | t-pin, straight pin, or paper clip
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
Interchangeable knitting needles, like my ChiaoGoo set, are amazing to use and come with all sorts of accessories. If your set has a hole at the base of the cable connector, you can likely use a tightenter to ensure the cable and needle do not separate while knitting. The ChiaGoo provided t-pin tightens the cable to the needle but there aren’t any instructions on how to do this (or none that I ...

Solved a few problems! Went to the store and bought a good quality hook with a rubbery handle. The one I was using is a straight one which was helpful when the hook got caught I could push it through without getting the hook part caught. Now with the new hook, great. Thanks for the information. Dennis.

Oh that is going to be super-helpful! Not just ChiaGoo interchangables, but really any interchangeables which have screw-on cables, they all have those little holes so that you can tighten the join.

my favorite tip was the last.... how many times i realize thay I'm literally bleary eyed and near death...but i keep going! ahhhhh! 💀 ⭐ a couple of things ive learned in the past 50 yrs is...get back to basics! Make sure the hook rotates all the way downward to pull through the loop. ⭐ the other thing that is VERY useful is...size up! try even a ½mm bigger, and the results are 👌🏻! grrat video!

That's really funny. Mine, as you said, doesn't say what to do with the t-pin either (which to me looks identical to my blocking pins), but it did say that the hole is there to insert a lifeline into. So that makes it seem like that's all the hole is for. It was really frustrating, having my needles forever separate and then pinch the yarn in the crack. Thank you.

Does it matter which end of the skein you start? My yarn is split even before I get it near the hook. Tried tight tension and slack tension but it is always splits. Worst part is when I have made a mistake I have to undo the work and that then is a nightmare with split yarn. Dennis.

Thank you so much!! Just like you--and all the others that gratefully commented and thanked you--I could NOT figure out how the pin could help. While making my last hat, with a new interchangeable needle set, the tip would occasionally loosen, so I was constantly worried about losing stitches. Fortunately, I was so painfully vigilant that I would realize it and tighten before any stitches fell off. Anyway, again, a HUGE "Thank You--you are a life saver in this instance, and much appreciated!! 👍 😃

Hi Allen, I don’t know how I came across your video on UA-cam and was so excited to see my pattern! It looks great and I loved all your comments. Once you showed the photo of your husband wearing it I recognised it immediately as I loved the project and had requested to add it to the pattern page on Ravelry. Great result - congratulations! 💙

Should have paid bettr attention re sleeves, had to take them out as they were "shapeless" should have started to decrease way before then what the patterns told me, sooooooo after having completed the body + one sleeve, I have put it aside, putting it on my " to do list!!!)as this going around around around, gets a bit tedious, ( burning out) and I note how you mention this, I did ad a 8 stitch cable in the centre giving it a touch of class!! Thanks for the video Allen

This is wonderful! Thanks so much for the tutorial. Putting in a lifeline has always felt so tedious, but I always regret not putting one in on the complicated projects. This makes it effortless. I'm trying to learn brioche knitting, and mistakes can be hard to fix for a beginner. This will be a lifesaver!

Y’all if I didn’t have one Hot mess . I’m working on a sleeve on my sweater. I did like 8 rows and realized I wasn’t doing a C2F correctly. So as y’all know on a sleeve it’s shape is different than just going around you work normally. Will I put a life line in and started at the left side of the add on stitches and worked my way around. Well I pulled my needles out and started frogging. Y’all I down have a clue what in the Sam Hill happened but on both sides of my under arm about 5 to 8 stitches up from the add on I had stitches coming out that I have no idea how they did what they did , y’all they was rows going in different directions from the rest .. All I can say is I got it back together the best I could with out ripping the hole sweater out . I’ve got like 2 or 3 holes in that area that when I’m done with the sleeves I will try to fix from the inside. So you can cool best believe I will be installing a life line just like this when I start the other sleeve. The C2F was only in the sleeves and a chain cable and I had the directions for the chain but not the C2F . As a matter of fact I had no idea what it was called tell I finally found the video that I got it from . So we see if my Hot Mess becomes unnoticeable when I’m done .
